Azucanela - Hawthorne

The churros are delicious, the coffee is great, and the atmosphere is amazing. I highly recommend this place!

My go to coffee is cafe de olla but their menu has a good variety for various tastes.

It’s a fun place to go with friends since they have some board games, and it’s a good place to study with seating options inside and outside.

This is one of those hole in the wall gems.

Looks small on the outside but cozy inside. They have a backyard patio that's absolutely charming.

The churros are made on the spot, so one must wait. Luckily on the day I went it wasn't crowded, but the lady behind the counter was busy with phone orders. But even so, the wait time was quick.

Ordered the regular churros, churros with cajeta and the churros bites. For the bites she provided two dipping sauces. Let me tell you about the chocolate one... It was delicious, Abuelita chocolate mousse style, and explosive taste on the buds, hot chocolate will never be the same for me. It was insane 🤤 First time trying Strawberry Horchata, still trying to figure out how I feel about that one. But it was okay.

Parking, as far as I know, only two spots in the front and it's for handicap only, very considerate. Street parking.

Ooohhh, someone left their hat in the bathroom, but it added to the decor.

Bottom Line: more people should go here.

Food: out of sight. $7 for 3 churro relleno sounds high but when it weighs more than half a pound, made fresh, and hits that sweet, doughy deliciousness you crave, absolutely come here. And I haven’t gotten to the coffee. The Hazelnut latte is standard tasty. For someone whose go to isn’t hazelnut, it’s very satisfying. But DRINK THE CAFE DE OLLA. I don’t remember the last time I simply drank a speciality coffee without any complaints. First taste? Great. Last taste? Also great.

Service: the cashiers were so friendly. She took the time to explain and provide recommendations. Really really friendly for 10am on a Sunday

Atmosphere: pics don’t do it justice

Been going here since 2020 and there’s hasn’t been a single time I was disappointed or unhappy with the visit. The coffee and churros are always fresh and taste good. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Truly a spot to visit to hangout, take to go, or even do homework.

Hipster Hispanic - traditional Mexican fusion cafe - I sat here while traffic died off. I had the the Pistachio Latte - lactose free - smooth, nutty taste, while eating delicious soft doughy Churro bites…you pay for great quality. It’s worth every penny for a good feeling experience! I was attended very kindly as well!

Superb churros, crunchy, sugary, but not too sweet! The raspberry dip tastes so fresh! And the space is very colorful with lots of details and character.

Super cute cafe with lots of seating in the back patio! Wall art inside & out creates a nice ambience. Churros & avocado toast were freshly made to order. Seasonal foods like the cafechata (cafe de olla + horchata) and bacon & avocado breakfast sandwich were very good! Strong wifi and a clean gender neutral accessible bathroom. Very limited parking in front of cafe, use neighborhood street parking instead.

Churros are one of those things you can find everywhere in LA. But it’s worth going out of the way to visit and order them from Azucanela!! I’ve never had churros that were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, as I did here. The raspberry dipping sauce tasted and seemed homemade, not bought from a commercial restaurant supplier. Which I would know since it’s something I make a lot at home. The strawberry lemonade was freshly made while I was waiting and it was perfection. I loved the vibrant decor inside and outside on the patio! The music was great, I thought the prices were fair. My absolute only complaint is that I wish this was closer to where I live in West Hollywood. I’d visit every other day!! 😂

Despite limited parking and seating inside, Azucanela offers wheelchair accessibility, cleanliness, great customer service, and plenty of seating outside. It's a true gem that should be on everyone's list.

Lovely coffee place very nicely decorated. Wonderful customer service and delicious coffee drinks. I tried the churros with cajeta, the Abuelita Frappuccino and the ice horchata late, both drinks nicely presented very flavorful but not extremely over sweet. The churros were fresh, warm, crunchy and perfectly coated with cajeta.

This place is great! So nice to see a private coffee shop... Very cute, clean, well-managed.

Had a delicious cafe latte and chatted with the owner about the marshmallows & churros he was making (ALL from scratch!).

Looks like this is my new go-to spot when the kids are at Swim Team!!

I have traveled to over 60 coffee shops in the greater SoCal area but I don’t consistently write reviews. This one deserves one. The vibrant colors, decadent treats and music brings me home. Friendly staff is a plus. There’s an awesome outside area with games and unique seating options. Swing on an avocado shaped chair, cozy up among decorative pillows or catch some sunshine. Treats were delicious and picturesque too.

Parking warning for you newbies out there:
My only concern is the VERY limited parking and proximity to a lot of little shops which makes even street parking a pain. I parked in the adjacent neighborhood and walked. The area is lively and this place is tucked away… but DEFINITELY go regardless. Don’t be discouraged. LA parking is just what you’ll have to overcome.

Side note: It reminded me a little of Con Azúcar (a notable downtown coffee shop in San Jose, CA). Check it out if you frequent the Bay Area

I enjoy the great tasting churros. They have an outside lounge area which is amazing. For the most part the majority of their coffee latte options are good.

This new little churro café is amazing… They only serve churros avocado toast coffee tea and pastries. The Horchata frappe is to die for. Parking is a challenge but worth the effort. A little pricey but very tasty and all fresh.

Great churros and iced pistachio latte. Parking is tedious though. They have backyard seating! Clean restroom.

my first time here with a friend i got the chocolate abuelita churro it was really delicious it was worth the price not to mention that you get 3 big churros i will be back to try more things from their big menu.

Cute little late night spot on Inglewood/Hawthorne area. I got their Churro Sundae all for myself, $10.50 for 3 big churro sticks, 2 scoops of ice cream, and their homemade marshmallow melt. Honestly, it's enough for two people. The churros were really good and even the ice cream, tasted homemade 😄. The employees there are very friendly. They have parking but it's small, so we just parked on the street not too bad. Cute spot for all you Instagram/TikTok influencers 😉.

I'm often down in South LA for court (I'm a criminal defense lawyer) looking for coffee places. Azucanela caught my eye, but it's more of a desert place, so I never got to go...until a late night lax pick up took me down there in the evening. You would never guess something so adorable could be on this particular block which is, at best, nondescript. They have parking in back and a beautiful patio as well, highly recommended if you need to meet someone 15 minutes away from lax at night. The churro-forward menu reminded me of places I had been in southern Spain, in Grenada.

I've been to this cute lil Cafe a few times now. I love the Latin American vibes. The decor is bright n vibrant. The seating in door and outdoor are cute. The drinks are delicious! I love the Abuelita frappe. And they're food is great too, especially the churros! Highly recommend
