Anza Animal Clinic

Absolutely amazing! Just moved to Thousands Oaks, and I was leary on finding a new vet. I had been with my previous vet for 12 years. Everyone here was great and I was so pleased with the doctor. Abby will continue to go here. Thank you for a wonderful experience. One more thing, the kitties that live there are soooo adorable and friendly.

Dr. Anderson and his staff our amazing. Was able to get a same day appointment and Dr. Anderson really thinks out of the box for treatment of my 11 year old Berners Arthritis. Love this place.

I just moved here from Alabama. Sue my Chihuahua is my baby. She was having trouble breathing. I was so scared. I ran in with her and they couldn't have been more helpful. She is much better today. I thank them for being so helpful to this dog momma

Dr. Andy is the best. He is smart, compassionate, and most important listens to his clients. Unlike other vets we have gone to, he won’t try and sell you to do unnecessary things just to make money.

I like all of the veterinarians and the staff is great, too.
In 2022 I was on vacation for about 3 weeks. Both of my cats became ill while I was away, so my cat sitter took them to the Clinic. The staff was very helpful for both me, out of the country, and my cat sitter. They dealt with the circumstances in an empathetic and professional manner.

When we moved to Thousand Oaks we needed to find a new vet for our 2 cats and dog. We decided upon Anza and couldn’t be happier with our choice. They’ve helped figure out an allergy issue that our Golden Retriever had been dealing with for years, did well visits for our cats, and now help us with vet services for a new puppy. They take their time, answer your questions, and are extremely friendly.

I have been bringing my dogs here for the last 25 years. Anza's staff is always lovely and friendly! It's clear they all love animals and do anything to make both furry friends and their humans feel like family.

Dr. Alexander is the best. I was so lucky to find her a couple of years ago and drive over 30 minutes to see her because she truly is special. I know all of my pets are in the best care. This clinic is great too. Super calm and organized. Everyone I have interacted with here has been great.

I am always confident I get the best Pet Health advice and treatment. The doctors have integrity and guide their patients and pet owners wisely.

I’ve really had great experiences with this vet…. Specifically Dr. Spadaro-Goldstein. She is great with both my large young great Pyrenees as well as my geriatric 15-year-old pug. I also had to board my old pug and didn’t want to have to get him the flu vaccine because he would be quarantined in his own room at the boarding facility. The vet was willing to write me a doctors note so that he was excused from getting the vaccine. He was not around any other dogs so no other animals were at risk. And he didn’t have to be subjected to any unnecessary vaccinations at his very old age. I was so grateful that they allowed us to do this. Plus Dr. Spadaro-Goldstein gave me a really in-depth appointment with both my large great Pyrenees as well as my old pug. For my pug I wanted to know his quality of life to make sure he wasn’t suffering in any way because he sleeps 90% of the time. Thankfully she gave me such an in-depth exam I feel comfortable letting him just sleep the rest of his life…until he’s ready to transition.💖

I highly recommend Anza Animal Clinic. When we were experiencing issues with our dog they got us in very quickly as a new patient. Our dog is extremely fearful and reactive to people. They were very understanding of this and made sure to make our girl feel comfortable. We had only gone to one other vet before, she was terrified there and would pee herself in fear. Our experience with Anza was much different and you could noticeably see our dog feel more at ease. Dr. Spadaro is very patient and considerate of anxious dogs. She took her time and got on the floor on her level and gave her treats. She never forced any interactions or did anything that wasn't necessary so my dog would be comfortable. The vet techs were also very kind and compassionate. If your dog is anxious or fearful and you dread having to put your dog through the stress of the vet as much as me, then this is your place. They make a normally stressful situation much easier.

We went to Anza many years ago with another dog. Remember what great care they gave so are back again with our new bundle of joy--Kai our new miniature golden doodle. Feel very comfortable there. Dr. Steve is wonderful!

Please see update below. This rating is for the ‘old’ Anza. I cannot fairly rate the new Anza, because I have no idea who will staff it. They have ‘full-ins’ as of October 2023.

Original review: I have been going to this clinic since 1988, when Dr. Gordon owned it. In 1992, he handed me and my very sick dog off to Dr. Watase. I was not happy. My dog, Toby, had three paws in the grave. Dr. Watase pulled him out of the grave for me. Dr. Watase has been my hero ever since. He is a great diagnostician and really loves the animals in his care. I trust him implicitly and will not go to any other vet (except his colleagues, when he is not available), unless he refers me. He is also not afraid to refer to a specialist, when appropriate. Jake is my 7th dog under his care. By the way, all of my dogs have loved him, too. For me, there is no other vet in the Conejo Valley.

Update: Dr. Watase retired at the end of 2022. I decided to trust Dr. Spadaro. She has now left. The only remaining vet that was on Steve’s (Dr. Watase’s) team was Dr. Klumb. She is retiring at the end of October, 2022. We saw a fill-in vet who seemed okay, but we no longer recognize anyone in the office. This is the end of an era for me. I will follow Dr. Spadaro.

Best vet clinic I’ve ever been to! My dogs life was saved when she was stung by a bee and went into anaphylactic shock. They took me in last minute and saved her. Very knowledgeable vets and get you in last minute.

I needed a veterinary appointment in a hurry. My issue was, my Rottweiler is a rescue and has been abandoned twice. I couldn’t imagine dropping her off without being there for her. The staff was great, so accommodating, and helpful. I was able accompany my pup in the examining room. Everyone I encountered was friendly, helpful and true animal lovers. I couldn’t imagine a better experience. Anza will be my go to Veterinarian.

Anza took my dog in on an urgent basis when all of the other clinics in the area refused, including the local emergency vet clinic, because they were at capacity. I am so grateful to Dr. Watase, he was so patient, eased my anxiety, and was very thorough. He called to check in on my fur baby the next day and was able to further guide me by having me email him pictures of my concerns rather than making me come back to the clinic. It is clear the Anza team love animals as much as I do and I’m so thankful to have found them. Would highly recommend this clinic!

We called Anza in a desperate moment, after our Boxer had an MRI at another facility. We really just wanted a vet to help us understand the results of the MRI and give us some ability to make some decisions for our pup. I know they were busy but Evan got us an appointment the same day, and we walked out of the door with so much more peace of mind than when we walked in. Dr. Watase was just our speed and answered as many questions as he could. We knew we were in very loving hands who were also top-notch in their facility and their expertise. We are so grateful, and we will be back.

"Trustworthy" is the best word to describe my veterinarian. Our pets are family and unfortunately except for their facial expressions and body language they really cannot convey what they feel as much as we would like. We need to know that our Doctor's primary concern is the well being of our pets and not how much they could bill. I have been bringing my 14 yr. old black "Pearl" Lab to Dr. Watase at Anza Animal Clinic and I completely trust his work and judgement every time. I also have to say that the staff at Anza are all so great and wonderful. You can see that they love animals and will treat your pet as if they were their own. I have had quite a few dogs and have tried several vets. Dr. Watase and the Anza staff are the best in what they do.

We recently moved to Westlake Village and did not have a veterinarian for our two dogs. I found Anza from a google search and can't be more pleased. One of our dogs, a Pomeranian (Lucy) became sick. I telephoned Anza near the end of the day and they had me bring our dog right over. Dr. Watase examined Lucy and treated her with antibiotics. Lucy is back to her normal self now. Dr Watase is the best veterinarian I have encountered. In fact, the whole staff at Anza are really great.
