Lots of great delicious choices here so be adventurous & try something new. Definitely must try the beef rolls & the rice cakes. This place is a bit pricier than your traditional mom & pop type of Chinese restaurant, but it’s worth it. Great for groups since it’s family style.

First time went back after the pandemic. Located on Las Tunas east of the restaurant row on Main Street in Alhambra. This place seemed to have remodeled since the last time I’ve been here. The inside looked bright and modern yet plush. The foods had improved quit a bit.

The staffs are very friendly and kind. We had a chance to talked to the owner of the restaurant. He is from Vancouver, Canada and brought with him the culinary experience and good foods from that region. I understand that his brother in law is the executive chef here who has many years of five star hotel chef experiences. I guess that’s why they got a bid gourmet recommendation from Michelin Guide.

It’s a rear that a restaurant can blend well the cuisines from Taiwan with the Shanghai flavors. This restaurant has done a good job creating many delicious Shanghai/Taiwan dishes.

I particularly enjoyed their Scallion pancake and the Shanghai pan fried cake with soy sauce. These two dishes embodied the best of both Shanghai and Taiwanese cuisines. I loved the flavor of the onion pancake which was flaky and crunchy without tons of oil. The wok Hei in the Shanghai fried cake dish reflected the excellent skills of the chef 👩‍🍳. The Shanghai rib and the tofu skin with preserved vegetables were excellent as well. Overall, the foods were fantastic, can’t go wrong with ordering any of the dishes with pictures on the menu.

Tons of parking spots next to the restaurant.

We came early around 11:30 am and no wait on weekend. We are large group and lucky there is only 2 tables left for large group. My fav are dry spicy pork intestine pot, crab, fried fish and Shanghai baby ribs. Bitter melon with egg yolk is good too, a little more bitter than the flavor we eat. I like the way they cook. Light and not too overwhelming for sou sauce flavor. Will come again for sure to try other dishes. Price is also very reasonable too. Has small car park on the side and back. Cost about 240 for 9 people.

This restaurant possesses not only a welcoming and exquisite atmosphere, but a diverse menu with incredible tasting dishes. I’ve been to Jiang Nan Spring twice now, and it is now surely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. Service was extremely fast and attentive, and the food arrived hot and appetizing. We ordered the seaweed flavored fish (a favorite), green onion pancake, avocado & preserved egg salad, pickled cabbage with peas & bean sheet, tofu with brown sauce, Shanghai baby ribs, and the intestine soup.

Will definitely be returning here to eat soon! Make sure to try the seaweed flavored fish and the green onion pancake!

Great Shanghainese food in the SGV! Service was on point and all the dishes were hot and very tasty. Plus, the atmosphere is very spacious and elegant, which isn’t always the case when eating Chinese food.

Wow, this place is great. I wish they were located in the Arts District so us Downtown residents could go to this every day.
I usually never comment on the decor BUT THE DECOR. It's simple but perfect for the space. It's vibe is very much Bottega Louie and the food quality is there to match.

Expect this place to be priced a good amount more than you might expecting for the area but it's oh so worth it. It's really a stand out and you'll be wanting to go back many times.

I loved the intestine with blood cubes hot pot (intestines were VERY clean tasting compared to other restaurants), and the thousand year egg with avocado (so goood! Don't leave here till you get it)

This place is really, really good. Authentic, scrumptious, mouth watering. In a sea of Chinese restaurants, this place stands out.

I'm just pissed my family's been eating here for months and never told me about it.

Best Jiangzhe cuisine (江浙菜) I’ve had in America. I was so surprised that this modest looking restaurant in San Gabriel had such authentic flavors that I’ve never experienced back in NYC. Must try and I will bring my friends and family here! Here’s what I ordered:

紹興醉雞 ShaoXing Drunken Chicken
砂鍋醃篤鮮 Smoked chinese sausage, tofu, bamboo, bokchoy warm pot (this soup is so traditional and I think it’s the best I’ve had here in US)
木須肉 Moo Shu pork with thin wrappers
韭菜香干肉絲 Chinese chives, pork and dried bean curd
雪菜毛豆百葉 Pickled Cabbage w/ peas and tofu sheets
豆沙鍋餅 Sweet Red Bean Pancake

Definitely worth a try. Remaining some original southern China cuisine taste. It's very noisy at bisy time, just like all those busy restaurants in China...😂😂😂

Great Shanghai cuisine, that's what this place is good at. Don't order the spicy Szechwan dishes, it's not their specialty but is mandatory if any restaurants want to do business in SGV.

Brand new restaurant opening in Alhambra, it is on the outskirts of main Street area. Interesting interior mix with some modern designs, a different take on typical Chinese restaurant layout. Services was very attentive, food are all with good ingredients and we'll prepared. Refreshingly tasty, and reasonable priced. We have a great dinner with party of 15, and everyone left the restaurant with a smile.

Ordered the tea-smoked duck and seaweed fried fish, both were delicious. Portions are huge. Decent service.

Food is delicious and the service is good. We’re told that the kitchen is closed on 3pm, we thought it’s time to finish our food and leave, but the staff told us don’t rush they will still be there. That’s nice.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. I found Jiang Nan Spring in Eater for a family/birthday get together for 11. The exterior could use some improvement, kinda worried me since it was our first visit. They had plenty of free parking which is nice these days. When you walk in, we were very impressed compared to exterior. - simple yet elegant decor. It was like walking into a nice boutique hotel. As soon as we sat down the service staff was on it with tea and water, followed by drink orders. I took on the task of ordering. Thank goodness for those pictures because when you need to order for 11 it really helps with the decision making. It may seem tacky but all we care about is whether the food is good or not. The staff came by several times while I was trying to pick things to order. Once I got a base order, the server was helpful in making suggestions and making sure we had enough food. We did pretty good, everyone was full and not enough leftovers to make it worth taking home.

The food was spot on. The xiao loong bao, green onion pancakes, hot & sour soup; crab with rice cake;; pork with pepper salt; lions head stew; string beans; crispy noodles; beef with onions; Shanghai short ribs; probably forgot a few. It was all good. I don’t want to call it basic but it was really good go-to Chinese dishes. There have been many times we have been disappointed with the simplest of dishes at other restaurants.

The service was great. The food came out at a good pace. The servers kept our drinks and tea pots filled. They even changed out our plates several times and took away the dirty plates (these simple things are not done at other Chinese restaurants, a pile of dirty plates is not appetizing). Plus, new clean plates is so nice when you have so many different dishes you are eating family style. They even had candles we forgot for the birthday cake we brought from Portos. They cleared our table set up the cake. Even asked if we were ready for staff to sing happy birthday, we said no but the gesture was appreciated.

The only price I asked about was the crab with rice cake, it was $60, which I thought was reasonable and what we got was more than fair. The xiao loong bao was $14 which I think is about the same as Ding Tai Fung. Nonetheless, the restaurant deserved to charge whatever they wanted because they checked the boxes for a nice restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came it was only $350 total including 18% tip they totaled for me. A few of us had beers and soda too. Anyways, I was ready to pay $500 and would have been happy to. I have paid more and not been this satisfied.

At the end of the day, Jiang Nan Spring served tasty food at more than reasonable prices for the ambiance and great service they provided. We found a new spot and will be back.

I mainly get vegetarian dishes, and while I'm not much of an authority on most meat plates, I do love their mixed vegetable plate, their green bean and eggplant dish, and their vegetable and tofu soup.

Aside from the food, their service is great. The people are friendly and the wait time is rarely (if ever) long. Their space is also quite big. It gets packed but never feels crowded. I'm very happy to support this place.

Buckle up, my fellow flavor adventurers, for I've stumbled upon the kaleidoscopic vortex that is Jiang Nan Spring. This place isn't just a restaurant; it's a sensory safari that catapults your taste buds into the throes of a gonzo culinary expedition.

From the moment I sauntered into Jiang Nan Spring, it was clear that I was about to be whisked away on a gastronomic escapade like no other. The air was thick with the mingling scents of bubbling broths, fragrant spices, and an aura of mystique that seemed to hang in the air like a secret only the palate could decipher.

As I perused the menu, each dish seemed to taunt me, beckoning me to delve into the uncharted territory of Jiang Nan cuisine. The servers, dressed in enigmatic attire, floated amidst the crowd like culinary spirits guiding us through this daring voyage.

With each bite, it was as though I had unearthed an ancient treasure buried deep within the folds of dumpling wrappers. The delicate dance of flavors—sweet and savory, tender and crunchy—transported me to a realm where ordinary taste was left far behind.
It was a masterful exploration of the interplay between tender greens, succulent meats, and velvety sauces. Each morsel was a brushstroke on the canvas of my senses, painting a portrait of flavors that defied convention.

A place for a more refined Chinese experience. Their superior quality ingredients used extend down to even the oil and peanuts. Very impressive.
