The last undeveloped portion of land that used to be Rosemead Airport, closed sometime between 1962-1964.

Fletcher Aviation owned Rosemead airport starting in 1950, they made their money with govt contracts for aerial refueling and naplam bomb casings. In 1953 Porsche contracted Fletcher to design the first all Porsche 356 engine case, Fletcher also sponsored Porsche racing 2 of their 550 Spyders in La Carrera Panamera - this was the first large sponsorship of motor racing in history. Later Fletcher created a small lightweight Jeep replacement vehicle that was all wheel drive and amphibious powered by a Porsche 356 engine called the Fletcher Flair but the Army did not buy it. The airport was used in the movie “Court Marshal of Billy Mitchell”. Fletcher manufactured the Fletcher Aviation Executive desk and had a license to build Porsche industrial engines. Rosemead Airport was also the original location of the Goodyear blimp before moving over to Culver City!
