This place smells delicious from the moment you walk in. The food is properly spicy and numbing. We ordered the green pepper chicken, the beef with rice crusts and the wonton in pepper sauce (the one that says numb taste) and all three were so good. Despite the fact that they were all spicy and full of numbing szechuan peppercorn, they each had a very distinct flavor. The staff here was all friendly and ordering via the QR code was super easy. Loved everything about this meal and can't wait to come back and feel my tongue want to buzz out of my mouth with numbness. There are several other dishes I want to try!

We had dinner here and this hole in the wall did not disappoint. The service is quick and friendly. They don't serve alcohol but the food speaks for itself. All the dishes were very flavorable with just the right amount of spice. The stand out dih was the lion fish

Food is soooooo spicy.. It’s legit good. But also I personally couldn’t handle it. I have to find stuff here that’s not as spicy.

I love the atmosphere. I was eyeballing all the plates of food coming out of the kitchen. So much I want to try

Really really good Chinese food. The toothpick lamb was my favorite so flavorful and small bites. The eggplant dish was delicious and had a good sweet curry to it. Mapo tofu is great and Szechwan spice. Cucumber salad was refreshing. Great dishes and huge portions

For those spicy food lovers, this was a great choice. Every dish tasted delicious, especially liked the beef with rice crackers, spicy fish and tofu. The lamb meat on sticks were especially tender. The rabbit meat was just ok. The noodles were a bit too soft for my liking.

Casually serving up some of the finest Sichuan Chinese food in all of LA. Strongly recommend the cold dishes including the little sister rabbit and the jelly noodles (as long as you don't mind eating around the bones). They truly deliver on the classic slowly building tongue numbing heat that makes Sichuan food special, balancing with savory flavors that makes each bite a small triumph. I guess there's a reason this place has been an SGV staple for so many years.

We loved this restaurant! Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious! We got the deep fried chicken with red chili pepper, the sautéed string beans, the spicy arden lettuce, wontons with red chili sauce, and the griddle cooked shrimp with mixed vegetables. We recommend all the dishes, especially the griddle cooked shrimp. We’ll be back!

Thank you J Kenji for the recommendation! This was my first time eating LAs best schezwan food. The tooth pick lamb was fantastic and the egg plant was solid! This is the most authentic chinese food around. The spice and heat were nothing for the bland palate. Got the food to go for a group but I’d recommend eating in the restaurant if able. It was very clean and the staff were kind and considerate taking serious pride in the food and the history of its making.

Really good. The Toothpick Lamb was a surprise and a highlight. It was very tasty, well seasoned and a delight because I don't usually order lamb at many places. The Boiled Beef in Hot Sauce was the main reason for our visit and was really good. We were actually expecting it to be spicier but that's okay because it was so good. We also ordered the Sauteed String Beans which I would highly recommend. Spicy and good flavors. I also ordered the Twice Cooked Pork Fried Rice which was awesome.

Long wait but it’s very delicious! Tips #1 you can join the waitlist on yelp to save your wait time in store. Tips #2 the plate size is very big! Be aware of this especially if you are just visitor to LA.

We were craving spicy food and this is the winner. We had toothpick lamb with cumin, flourless pork belly and crispy shrimps with ground pork french fries. It is really delicious. The pork belly was just ok but the other 2 dishes was a hit. We will have to try the other dishes next time.

Definitely the place to go for authentic Sichuan Chinese food. Food is spicy but there are options for milder dishes. Highly recommend the hot pot dishes. Wait can be a little long since there is not a lot of seating inside. Overall, the best Chinese food I’ve had and a must try for anyone!

This is my favorite Szechuan in the SGV. Great food, great service. They bring the heat. I love the order-by-QR system. Must go back soon to get something besides my go-to of Mapo Tofu, toothpick lamb, grilled green beans with pork, and wontons in chili oil. Beer would be nice.

The BEST!

Mouthwateringly numbing delicious spicy Szechuan legendary spot in Alhambra.

Was inspired to leave our bubble in the Westside to visit a top restaurant in Jonathan Gold’s Best 101 Restaurants in Los Angeles List.

Chengdu Taste was everything we wanted... aromatic, layers of flavour, surprisingly light and not greasy. The chefs know how to cook and it’s evident in every single dish.

The numbing taste catches up so first your tongue and lips then nose and head may start tingling. Water doesn’t help. Eat rice or vegetables. It will ease up but it’s a very surreal feeling.

We ordered 9 dishes

Fresh Fish in green pepper sauce
Chicken and vegetables in red chilli sauce
Fried chicken with red chilli
Lamb cumin
Mapo Tofu
Won ton in red sauce
Won ton in numb sauce
Green vegetables
Pork in garlic sauce

Seriously all were so good. My nephew who loves spicy foods declared Chengdu Taste his “favourite restaurant ever.”

Mad props to Top Chef All Stars LA to feature a Jonathan Gold episode.

Was told by my Chinese friend and his friend that this is the most authentic Sichuan restaurant in town, and I believe them. The signature green pepper sauce is exquisite and is like nothing I've had before, thought definitely not for the light of heart!

Genuine Chengdu food. Place is small. Had to share a table with someone else. But food and service are good. Not much choice of non spicy food. Love the majiang deco :)

Five out of five stars. Love and adore. Incredibly spicy, Szechuan style food; intensity flavored and aromatic, this kind of food is dryer and spicier than south Chinese food that incorporates lots of sauce. You won't find things like almond duck on this menu - every dish packs a whallop, and it's incredible!!

Standouts are the poached fish in super spicy broth; white fish simmered in a broth laced with liberal amounts of Chinese vinegar and laden with chili peppers. Plenty of greens and celery make this a hearty, sour, spicy, soul warming dish.

I also love the hot and spicy Chinese eggplant; the eggplant is not overcooked, which helps it retain it's almost meat like toothyness that is so so good with a little rice to mop up the chili garlic sauce it comes swimming in.

Guess Guess shrimp is just shrimp and french fries, which should please some of the pickier members of your group.

I also loved the Ma Po Tofu. I know every Szechuan place does Ma Po Tofu, but this was something special. Tofu is creamy and sublime, melting into a savory and highly spicy backdrop of chili peppers and garlic. I ate some much my lips went numb from the heat!

Chengdu Taste: come hungry, like spicy, and be ready to blow your nose. ;-)
