San Marino Cafe & Marketplace

Great cafe in a popular part of town. Friendly quick service with quality drinks and food. Has outdoor patio and indoor seating. Tried their lentil soup (very savory and satisfying!) and their spicy chai latte (not too sweet or spicy, a good blend). Great place to relax and chat, definitely recommend!

I liked this cute coffee shop because it’s so calm and serene “mountain living” type of feel in the forest tundra type of California living place…feels wonderful to sit down in the outdoor sitting with the solid color awning umbrellas and the “basket woven material” chairs that remind me of Paris coffee shops. Parking was so pleasantly available and there wasn’t much city fuss, no crazy noise, no people trying to push their agendas just coffee, food, birds and cutesie mountain living….sigh

Ecstatic that my friend found this place and shared it with me. Although I'm not normally in this neighborhood, I will come back just to eat here. I very much enjoyed the Figgy Piggy Panini with salad that I had and am looking forward to trying their other sandwiches. Street parking can be a little difficult depending on the time of day you come, but they do have a small lot right behind. As their name states, marketplace, they also carry a selection of spices and wines for sale. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but they have a full coffee bar. A lot more outdoor seating than indoor seating and a single, shared gender bathroom.

I stop by SM cafe about once a month at least. It’s in such a quaint little neighborhood, there’s always outdoor seating, shade, and a comfortable area to meet up friends for lunch. I’ve had a few of their sandwiches but I actually love their chicken scoop salad the most. I don’t love the name but the serving size is great and the onion bacon dressing is everything. I haven’t had the chance to stop by for dinner but I can imagine how nice it would be during the summer evenings.

I need a quick lunch while being in town for work. The chicken salad sandwich was so delicious, as was the lovely hot leek and potato soup. Quick service and warm atmosphere.

Ordered the Italian chop salad and quiche Lorraine, and they were both great! We ordered takeout, but they were also open for outdoor seating. They were pretty good about asking people to wait outside to manage capacity, and were very friendly. Plenty of parking around the cafe as well.

Customer service great. The food is excellent, delicious, and perfect portion.
Linda was great. I mentioned the keto diet and she recommended the salad posted in pic. The salad is a beef brisket with melted cheese on top of a romaine lettuce heart with avocado and hard boiled eggs. It was only missing a few cherry tomatoes. Thank you very much! I will definitely be back to try other menu items.

The avocado toast was amazing! The right amount of salt makes it so delicious. Cute little cafe & the staff is friendly. Love the outdoor seating.

I’m so happy I placed this pickup order! I got the egg salad sandwich w/side of small salad. So far had half of the egg salad sandwich…WOW🤩!! So delicious and flavorful!! I love egg salad sandwiches but RARELY find one this DELECTABLE!! This portion fed my soul in ways difficult to put into words!!

If you want a simple good avocado toast, here’s a good choice. $7 fresh and creamy avocado and well baked toast, the ambience of the place is cozy and relax.

After spending several hours at the Huntington we were looking for some lunch and nice place to sit and came across this place. We had sandwiches, salads and lentil soup. Everything was delicious but I think the lentil soup was my favorite. Nice place to sit and eat if you’re in the area.

Surfer J here with another top review! Obviously I ordered the surfer chef’s club sandwich. Delicious packed with turkey bacon avocado on scrumptious toasted toast. My lady boo had a breakie burrito. They don’t charge for oat milk in coffee which is gnarly. I got some baby donuts to go for my dog Marley. I’ll let you know later his thoughts, but he ain’t to particular about his donuts. We’ll back again San Marino cafe for some more sweet vibes.

I've only had breakfast and lunch here. Great selection of delicious pastries and hot breakfast foods (such as breakfast burritos and sandwiches). They have a few tables inside and along the sidewalk. You have to order at the counter but they are pretty fast. They have a great wine selection as well for lunch and dinner. A neighborhood treasure!!

Went with a friend for a light brunch. Coffee drinks & food choices were delicious - sidewalk table on a nice day - wow! A relaxing leisure experience.

Stopped off last week for our fist time. My wife and I split a salad and sandwich for lunch and were not expecting much. The staff were extremely friendly and the establishment itself was very cute and welcoming. The wait is a bit long but we’ll worth it. I also read someone else that said the same thing about the wait. But with that being said I hope they don’t ever rush through anything. It was perfect. Perfectly put together salad with the best dressing I think I’ve ever had. When I opened the wrapper for the sandwich I did not expect it to be as good as it was. New favorite sandwich. New favorite salad. New favorite lunch spot.

The Balboa may be my favorite sandwich of all time, though I didn’t get it this time and I now must wait longingly until I can eat it again. If I could make any recommendations is that there is a lot of open restaurant spaces in Altadena that would really cut down on my commute time to deliciousness.
