Embody Alternative Fitness

Okay, this place is totally awesome. I went to one class as I’ve always been curious and I’ve now gone consistently for 3 months. It’s challenging, fun, and a great workout. My first teacher was Amber for intro and she is so great. She’s definitely the reason I came back. I have since moved up to level 1 and have been taking classes with Karissa. She is AMAZING. She breaks all the moves down, makes sure everyone is doing it properly, and gives variations to moves. She makes sure you really learn the proper way of doing things while keeping it fun and encouraging. It’s a great welcoming environment with the other students. And whoever answers their emails and customer service is so great. They always respond quickly and they have been good homies and hooked it up when I’ve been in a pinch. Definitely recommend this place!

I take Katie's barre fitness class and it's always a challenging workout which I like. The energy in the class is amazing, Katie is a great instructor. She always helps me with my form and pushes me outside of my comfort zone. It's a plus that her playlists are fire!

As someone who has been behind the scenes (I was an intern working in exchange for classes) I can sincerely say fembody is probably one of the greatest studios you will find in this area. The owners are wonderful. They care about their clients. I can tell they pay well because their instructors seem happy and they care about what they do and they accept all levels experience as well as fitness levels. The studios have policy and procedure surrounding cleanliness and operations and they are the same at signal hill and Huntington ... I can’t really speak for Santa Fe springs because I’ve never gone but I can tell you the owner of that studio is an amazing human being. They are a bit expensive which is why i worked there. There is no way I could afford their classes. They were kind enough to take me in. But you can rest assured that I’m not just saying this to promote “friends” or anything. I haven’t spoken to anyone there in months and they fired me because of something that happened as a result of my severe adhd. I was never given the opportunity to explain and show them my doctors note. I found out I was let go through a group chat saying “today is her last day” . A bit ruthless in my opinion but I understand they have a business to run and there is no room for error ever. So if anyone is likely to give a brutally honest review it’s me because I love them but I’m not affiliated anymore and I have every reason to hate them but I never will. I’ll just tell you what’s up.

So I’ll give you some pros and cons

Pros
They have parking
They’re clean
There’s designated area for belongings
You will likely see the same familiar faces but they will change over time but it’s a gradual thing
Owned, operated, managed by women (think they have some men now but this what I know from when I was there)
They have shows so they give you opportunities to showcase your skills
They allow kids 13 and older for silks
They have tons of packages to choose from
They have retail if you forgot something
They have water for sale
They are safety conscious
They’re pretty organized
They accept all shapes and sizes
They have high ceilings.
Check in is fast and easy
They accept everything but checks (I think) but who uses those anyway.
They take suggestions.
They’re accommodating most of the time with billing
They had awesome knowledgeable instructors when I was there.

Cons
You must be there on time like every where else
There’s fees for everything but there’s slight chance they will waive it if you whine enough.
They make the interns buy the water so while you can only imagine what that case of water went through to get in that mini fridge jk but for real Amazon has a subscribe button. Orders automatically. Not really necessary to make someone who has no car lug three cases of water.
It’s expensive but I get it overhead insurance must be expensive.
They don’t really accommodate the more advanced levels enough so you’d see people venturing off and doing their own thing as instructors teach basics so the mixture of levels didn’t always work.
Sharing a pole sucks
Sharing silks suck
Class sizes can vary but they would get a bit crowded sometimes.

Overall I’d definitely recommend this studio to anyone.

Wish I could explain how special that place is but I suppose you will likely see for yourself.
