After hearing mention about Gusto for a while now, I'm glad to say I made my first visit today and already look forward to coming back. I tried a Mole Empanada and the Pan de Maiz while enjoying a Salted Tamarindo drink. Everything seemed reasonably priced and was well-made. As I saw another review mention, I appreciated the stereo and turntable being used rather than merely being a decoration for the space. It is clearly a business but also feels like you could be in a back room of someone's home. All of the staff was welcoming and seemed ready to answer questions if there were any.

Long lines but worth the wait. Try to go early so things don't sell out. Their menu has a lot of Mexican and Hispanic influence! We tried everything available and honestly loved it all.

I adore this place. Only thing I would change is to use reusable cups for the cold drinks like the ones they use for hot drinks.

A stellar establishment. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the love and care that's put into everything. I was impressed that they've got a vintage McIntosh stereo system and turntable, spinning eclectic tunes on sweet vinyl. The bread and coffee are out of this world. They've got sweet and savory pastries, Mexican specialties, and a selection of spreads and jams to take home. The tables are cozy indoors and the outdoor seating is very inviting as well. The staff are unfailingly nice. Service is attentive but not intrusive. I highly recommend.

It was everything I hoped for. You can go wrong with any of their pastries but, no matter which one you choose, do not pass on the Cafe de Olla - best I've ever had in Socal! And it is imperative that you have a concha to go with it. Perfection!

Love everything about gusto bread, and the renovations they did. They added their own coffee as well, cafe cuate. I had their horchata matcha and dulce de leche latte, it was pretty good. Will come back!

My weekly bread stop, I love the sliced California loaf. The guava pastry is also very good. Hopefully someday they’ll be open 7 days a week!! Monday and Tuesdays I’m counting the hours til they’re open on Wednesday 😅

Unfortunately, they were sold out of most items by the time I arrived (12:30 on a Saturday). However, after talking with them and finding out that I was only visiting, they said I couldn’t leave without trying something, and they gave me an alfajor on the house. It was delicious!

I wasn’t able to make it back to Long Beach after that, but next time I go to SoCal, I’ll definitely be back to try their concha and nixtamal queen.

The best fluffiest pan dulce I've had in the States! The smell of their bakery in the morning is heaven, their conchas are bomb and their Nixtamal Queen is something out of this world, it's like a crunchy caramelized palmier combined with the softness of a cinnamon roll.
Every weekend they surprise us with something new and I love it, it can be anything from banana nut muffins to jalapeño kefir cheese bolillos.
Make sure you get there early because they sold out pretty quick.

Stopped by this morning for a taste. We had seen the pictures on Instagram and just had to give it a try. The California loaf and the Nixtamal Queen were delicious. They sliced the California loaf for me and we had it with some corn beef and cabbage for dinner tonight.(St. Patrick’s day). We will definitely be heading back here again.

Bakery nerds, please visit! Such a unique spot: French style pastries with a strong Mexican influence. Try a pastry made with nixtamalized corn. You won’t regret it!

This is real bread! Exceptional! I searched for years for a good sourdough loaf because grocery store bread is garbage. This is one of only two places I’ve found that makes a truly fantastic loaf of bread and I highly recommend it! I’ll be back for more.

This is a very good bakery. Their Mexican inspired bread is surprisingly delicious.
I loved the bolillo (jalapeño and cheese) and the pan de maíz. The hueso was good too.
Hot Xocolatl was different than the usual hot chocolate. It’s made with water, not so sweet and a little bitter. I liked it.
There’s no parking. You have park on the street.
Cash and cards.
Accesible facilities. ♿
There are some chairs outside and a bar. But, this bread is mostly to go.

I went there today looking for some Hueso and Pan de Muerto bread but it was too late. They had run out of them, but I’ve got a California Loaf and some Concha’s instead. I also got an agua fresca and a cold Cafe de Olla, every turned out well after all. Everything was fresh and very tasty, I made myself a sandwich with their loaf.

We’ve been coming to Gusto since they first opened and it’s one of our favorite bakeries. The folks there are always friendly and the pastries are consistently amazing. Our favorites are the pastelito de guayaba, concha, and alfajores. They also recently expanded their coffee/drinks menu, and we loved the tamarindo agua fresca and atolatte. We moved out of state but make a point of going anytime we’re visiting home and definitely recommend it!

Remodel looking great, double the space and new seating inside! This is a real community bakery, like I've never seen---people line up early to get their pan dulce and cafecitos, then they stay, sit, and chat in the patio. Passing it, you'd think it was a restaurant. It's not even my favorite kind of bakery, but I love visiting it.

As soon as you walk in, the smell of fresh bread is in the air. I purchased the oreja, which was absolutely delicious and the most fresh one I’ve ever tasted. I also purchased their heirloom Jamaica flowers that don’t come with a P65 warning label as you may have noticed on other brands that are sold in markets. Their hueso or baguette is very good too.

Arrived around 11am on a Saturday. Parking is tricky, I found a spot about a block away behind Gusto. Lovely neighborhood! There was a line outside. You can see what they have to offer in the window. You place your order and pay at the door. They call your name when it's ready.
So many good things to say about this place! Best sourdough around! Many other products to choose from too.

This a very unique bakery, they have their own twist in the traditional Mexican Bakery. 100% recommended, staff super friendly. A must in Long Beach!
