my husband and i love ordering delivery from y&j gourmet! we’ve never had a dish we didn’t like, and the service has always been friendly and prompt. ordering y&j on nye has become a tradition and we always order a tonne of food so we have leftovers for days. highly recommend the spicy eggplant and spicy chicken wontons! they also have monthly specials if you subscribe to their emails. thanks for another delicious nye meal, y&j!

Authentic Cantonese cuisine. All the food was good. From the wonton soup, the chicken and broccoli and the Chow Mein. The server was very helpful. My wife loved the salted chili chicken wings.

A MUST TRY! These guys are excellent cooks and their food shows it. We tried the brocoly beef, shrimp dumplings, and broccoli beef. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!

Definitely recommend to eat in if you can but order out through an app. Small, humble, and definitely gourmet!! 🙏

Solid Chinese-American restaurant ran by Cantonese people. They seemed short-staffed due to COVID so please be patient. I called in for order and was told 30 min wait time - no biggie! SUPPORT LOCAL !!

We got the pepper and salt pork chop - juicy and fried to perfection! Recommended.

The fish with black bean sauce is solid too. I will ask for spicy next time for that extra kick.

Today we tried this place for the first time and it was delicious! First of all, the staff here were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food we ordered (egg rolls, house fried rice and chicken wings) were hot, fresh and flavorful. We can’t speak highly enough of our experience here. We are planning to come back the next time we’re in Pasadena.

Absolutely delicious Cantonese food. Their fish dishes are delicious. Kung Pao came with sprinkled dried chili and roasted peanuts. Vermicelli was flavorful and smokey. This place is far closer to authentic than most of the Americanized joints, and I appreciate it.

Today is the second time we visit, food was delicious, my daughter loves their hot and sour soup, prices are fine and the serving pet plate is big enough for 2 persons. They are always busy so highly recommend to order online.

Ordered Y&J tonight for a casual Valentine’s Day dinner at home tonight, and WOW, we were blown away! Best beef and broccoli we have had in recent memory! Meat was tender, sauce incredibly flavorful, meat to veggies ratio was perfect. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, service over the phone was wonderful, as was the quick delivery, even on a holiday. We are thrilled to have this restaurant nearby and look forward to trying many other things on the menu. A casual takeout order that felt fancy due to the high quality. Yum!

My Husband and I are new to Pasadena and we live down the street from this restaurant. So we decided to have our first meal here and we were extremely satisfied with the portion sizes. We ordered our food to go (Combination Chow Fun, Garlic Broccoli, Orange Chicken, Broccoli w/Chicken as well as 4 of the veggie Egg rolls). Everything was delicious.
We had enough food for Lunch & Dinner for three days. And that's just for the 2 of us.

We will definitely be going back. Thank goodness I work just around the corner. I definitely plan on eating there once a week for lunch 👍

To this very day, Y&J Gourmet is my favorite Chinese food restaurant. I lived in South Pasadena for a year, and I was addicted. My favorite dish from here is their orange chicken with fried rice and shrimp. Wish we had this good of food in Arizona.

The food is fantastic. The orange chicken is delicious. The pan fried dumplings are great. Everything is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend. Also, loved the shrimp and green beans. 5 stars

A hidden gem a little ways from old town Pasadena. The food is delicious, the prices are average (except their $9-12 lunch special). Would recommend if looking for takeout (storefront closed at the moment for remodel).

We have done take out and dine in here and both times were absolutely amazing. The food here is phenomenal. I've never had fried wantons be such a crispy and delicate texture, perfectly flavored. The bbq pork buns are of course incredible. The scrambled eggs in the beef and eggs dinner are wonderfully fluffy, and everything just tastes so good. I had a mango tea boba and then I had a second because it was just so good. Thrilled that we live just down the street from this place so we can visit often!

Best Chinese food in the area! Incredibly kind staff, super flavorful and generous portions. I have not been disappointed by any dish I’ve tried (all vegetarian).

They are very accommodating to dietary restrictions as well. My partner is vegan and they are easily able to omit things such as oyster sauce and the flavor definitely does not suffer! If you’re debating on where to get your Chinese food cravings you won’t be disappointed trying this place out

Don’t be thrown off by the entry, which has a wonky door, or the off-putting interior of this place, which is minimalist at best. They likely do a lot more take-out and delivery orders which would make sense. They do have a few tables inside though. But the food? I mean, YUM. Very generous portions, and freaking delicious food. Friendly staff, good service. Go there and you will not be let down.

Literally just finished eating the Phoenix chicken here ! It was so freaking good I am totally coming here again this week to get some more food with my husband ! First place in LA he’s like dang that’s some bomb Chinese food ! Perfectly spicy and the chicken has a amazing texture , not fatty and flattened white pieces of chicken fried to perfection and it goes perfectly with the white rice 🍚 the people are very kind and I’m happy that we went in person the food was VERY hot ! Thank you guys keep up the amazing work :)

Highly recommend!! Generous portions and exceptional service for a great price. These are kind people eager to earn your business. The food was so good! We tried the curry, orange chicken, and phoenix chicken. Hole in the wall type of place you're going to love telling people about! Try it!

My family is very glad after the change of owner, the food is more to our liking. We now don't have to go to San Gabriel or Arcadia if we are craving for Chinese food. We love their sweet and sour soup, tofu with brown sauce, broccoli with chicken, eggplant, plain fried rice with no sauce, duck, dim sum.

Man! Great service and honestly the best Chinese I’ve had in LA and I couldn’t wait to say that ! 🫡❤‍🔥🦾 The chicken and broccoli is straight crack 🤤 can’t wait to try more 👐🏽 with that being said, I do think it’s strange they don’t give fortune cookie.. that’s a first.
