I always love and enjoy this Japanese yakitori spot! The charcoal is used to perfection when grilling the food. Although, it is a small restaurant, it is has very friendly vibes,
Intimate, and an overall a nice authentic experience. I always get the shrimp skewers!

Been to many locations for their infamous ramen🍜 including the 'Shin Zen Gumi to go' d just down the street from this location.
Me, the wifey, & daughter came here because we usually like to go to the 'Jedaya' Japanese restaurant which is in the same plaza. There was a 45 minute wait on a Sunday evening and we didn't want to wait.

Since Shin Zen Gumi was just a short walk away, we decided to come here.

We didn't realize that it was based on Yakitori grilled styled Japanese and therefore I wasn't gonna be able to get any tempura like I normally would, however a change in pace would be just as fine.

We studied the menu for a few minutes and were easily enticed to order some yakitori meats 🍡 which was surprisingly delicious with a garlic dipping sauce, couple bowls of Shio ramen which was delicious for that style of ramen they didn't have tonkatsu style available , some grilled gyoza 🥟 for our daughter, karaage which also was delicious and fried to perfection , and finally I ordered a plate of their garlic 🧄 shrimp 🦐 fries🍟.

Now I normally do not ever get fries at a Japanese restaurant however I randomly chose this item and didn't regret it one bit. The shrimp were tantalizingly grilled to perfection with its own unique flavor accompanied with their own amazing sauce They drizzled the fries which were straw style and just perfect with the way they served them up.
Last but not least a large Sprite, Kirin Ichiban Bottled Beer, and some water to wash it down.

The place was crazy busy, however the staff made you feel at home with the way they shout their welcoming and departing greetings.

The restaurant was clean, organized, and outstanding service which made our first time experience an awesome one. I give it a 5 star rating for their excellent dining experience 👌

We'll definitely come back here for more of their Yakitori style cuisine!
Awesome job Shin-Zen-Gumi 👍

everything a yakitori place should be. the smell of charcoal, plenty of bar seating, and an attentive and helpful staff. a classic paper menu with items separated by category and type. extremely smooth and pleasant experience. would highly recommend the spicy cucumber salad as a cold dish to pair with your skewers. Like all yakitori places, the prices can add up pretty fast so this definitely isn't a spot for the price conscious. However, in my opinion everything is pretty reasonably priced and is competitive with other yakitori places.

Love the energy of this Japanese yakitori spot! If you like grilled meat on skewers this place is for you.
The kobe style beef and the crab croquettes are must try dishes here.

All the food was excellent and would highly recommend. My favorite skewer is probably the Enoki Mushroom w/ Pork Belly, but a close second would Chicken Thigh w/ Green Onion. All the beef skewers were delicious, but surprising the Beef Flap Meat (cheapest beef) was probably my favorite beef one, and economical too.

The staff and service was nice and fun too. Definitely grab some people with you and try as much as you can off the menu.

Always a must go when in L A. They don't take reservations, and it's 1st come, but well worth it. The grilled intestines are the best.

Famous for their yakitori this place was like a hidden gem when I discovered it. Tucked into the corner of a small shopping center this place is authentic Japanese cuisine. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered the prime beef steak plate lunch which was excellent! The prime steak was cooked to perfection and I loved the ginger salad dressing. My favourite was the potato salad, very creamy! Went back again to try the prime beef plate with steak yakitori and I love it better then the steak plate, meat was expertly cooked to perfection, tender and seasoned just right this place makes my mouth water just thinking about it 🤤

Hole in the wall Japanese grill. It can get pricey if you order a lot of small beef skewers. All the food is delicious, didn’t try anything I didn’t love

High praises! Delicious and unforgettable food. Awesome staff. Been coming here for several years now, and it's always amazing.

My entire experience with this place is amazing. The vibe here is so neat, and the staff is great.

Most importantly... The food is sensational. High recommend the yakitori, any curry dish since they are all amazing, and the bacon wrapped asparagus.

I live 45 miles away, but when I'm in town, it's a must I stop here.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 for the food overall once most were good but there was one miss. Deep fried pork ears was the first dish at the table and was crispy and chewy. A bit queasy but the salt does help cut through

Beef tounge was so tender and almost just melts you chew. Do note that you should eat this while it's still warm since it does get tough and chewy when it's cooled down

Pork belly and shiso pork belly were so yummy. I enjoyed the shiso one more since it does cut through the fat better and is more refreshing on the taste buds. The SO swears by the original though

Special heart was seasoned well and also tender. The pork intestines were disappointing though since the first piece was almost pure fat, the second was waaaaaay burnt, but the last small piece was deliciously flavored

Chicken thigh with salt and one with sauce. Both were tender and juicy but we preferred the one with salt since the one with sauce wasn't marinated so pretty plain in the center of the chicken

Ambience: 5/5 - small and cozy shop with very enthusiastic servers that make you feel welcomed. It's a bit of an older store so something's are worn

Service: 5/5 - you are greeted heartily the moment you walk through the door. While multiple servers deliver food and take orders, everyone was attentive and friendly.

Value for price: 5/5 - averages about $3.10 per skewer so it can get pricy fairly quickly. However, the food was delicious and we were very satisfied as our craving was met fantastically

Another great izakaya place. This place is incredibly lively and the food is fantastic. Definitely worth a trip if you can get in. It's worth the wait. Check out all the different foods I was able to sample. They also have alot of other dishes which look delicious but you can only eat so much. Definitely visit this place a few tries to sample as much as you can. I highly rate this place A+ !

Had to get on waitlist, waited about an hour. Busy friday night so expected.

Order by writing what you want on a checklist on paper.

Ordered bunch of Yakitori, ika, sausage. Everything was great.

We ate alot, between the 4 of us it was $120+.

The braised pork belly is a revelation. I highly recommend ordering that. This is a great place for a small party of 2-4 people to go. Extremely busy so go early if you can-- 15-20 min before they open. Good vibes, good atmosphere, good food. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

One of the best food experiences I've had while visiting LA.

The chefs were very nice and vocal.

The waiters and waitresses were quick with service.

We ordered the Yakitori fries, but they were forgotten. The food and service was so good that this wasn't even an issue for us.

Will definitely be back again!

The chicken plate never dissapoints i swear, sorry forgot the Japanese name for it also the shrimp fries are a must!!
Love their yakitori always taste delicious
They have a dessert as well 😋 .
Pretty much everything they have is very good, they have a lunch and dinner special so they close in after noon after about 3hrs of opening to prepare for dinner. So just being able to be some of the lunch food is a mission in itself well worth the reward.
