What an absolutely wonderful wine place to accidentally stumble upon while getting my morning coffee. James was the name of the gentleman who helped me and really took his time explaining the shop and it’s history and nearly all of the wines in stock one by one. I ended up, leaving with four separate bottles, all new to me, and I am very excited to try them. This place is approachable and well laid out and I will make sure that I visit anytime that I’m in the area. I highly recommend just popping in for a look and maybe a quick sip of wine.

The BEST wine shop/tastings in LA 😤 So affordable and with wines you can’t get anywhere else due to the fact that their importer is a part of their few yet mighty staff. It’s rare to find a wine shop where the owner and staff travels around the world to find extraordinary smaller wineries/producers. Wine Stop does not follow trends, they are tastemakers. And despite the unassuming name, it’s true to it… a perfect place to stop for wine.

They also have snacks, sauces, balsamic vinegars, olive oils, tinned fish, Japanese beers, and more!

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, so don’t be afraid to ask them for help. Love this shop, they have a customer for life.

Happy Thursday!!🥳🥳🥳 aka @winestop’s wine & cheese night🎉
This cute shop is located right outside of Arts District in DTLA and they offer an amazing wine selection at affordable prices.
The owner, Alvarado is super knowledgeable about every wine as he goes to each vineyard in Europe to source his bottles👏🏻

🍽Ordered:
1. Wine & cheese night tickets which includes 3 cheese plates & 3 wine pairings

Their wines are always delicious and each Thursday a different pairing is showcased. The tapas that come with each wine are fresh and keep you filled while the wine is flowing. This place is a great spot to come with besties for a casual and fun time.

🌟Tips:
-parking in that area is a little difficult sometimes but there is a parking lot around the back of the building that you may be able to park at
-come before 8pm since they close around 9/9:30 pm
-get tickets for wine & cheese night in advance on their website

💰Price:
$25/pp for wine & cheese

I walked in yesterday with specific criteria: a red under $25, perhaps a cab. I walked out in less than 15 minutes with an incredible red for under $22. I loved walking into the wine stop because it felt like I got a guided tour through the shop's wine options. Will definitely go back again!

About two weeks before our wedding, we had to change bar services and scramble to figure out how to provide all of our own alcohol for the event. We contacted Alvaro at Wine Stop DTLA and he invited us down to the shop to taste some wines, confident that he could figure something out for us on such short notice. He let us taste a few different reds, whites, and sparkling options and they were all delicious. Once we picked what we liked, he gave us a bulk order discount and worked with our coordinator to deliver the wines to our venue seamlessly. Truly one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! We're still working our way through the bottles we have leftover from our wedding but once we're out we'll be sure to re-stock up at Wine Stop!

Wine Stop is reason enough to move to DTLA. You won't find a better shop with better wines at better prices anywhere in the Los Angeles area. I stopped in out of curiosity after spending an afternoon writing at a nearby cafe and I walked out with two bottles. Now, you should know that Wine Stop does not have all the brand names you'll be looking for. I find this to be truly exciting, but some might find it reason to go elsewhere. Wine Stop offers California exclusive wines. That means you can only find their wines at their store. The result? They say better prices and better quality. While I can't vouch for the "better" prices, I can say the quality you get at the price you pay is incredible. I sampled a few bottles in the store, then I purchased a Rosé and a Red. A friend of mine and I shared the Rosé, and it was just as they said: zesty, refreshing and dry. Just the way I like it. It was good enough that I plan to drive across the city just so I can purchase a new box. They also have a tasting area and they offer a variety of happy hours through the week. It's off the beaten path, at the edge of the Arts District, but it's worth planning a stop if you're visiting DTLA and enjoy a good bottle of wine.

When considering the purchase of a bottle of wine, the most important name on the label is the importer. When you love a particular bottle of wine, then you share a palate with the importer that made your purchase possible. What sets the best wine importers apart are their abilities to bring wines that are equally stunning regardless of the price. This is what I’ve found with every purchase I’ve made at The Wine Stop and the only other place I can compare it to is Kermit Lynch. You’ll also find a deep informed history provided to you by the connoisseur handling your transactions at the shop.

This is my favorite wine shop in Los Angeles. This shop has an excellent selection of exclusive European wines at fabulous prices. The tastings on Thursdays are fantastic. Not only is this a great place for meeting friends or going alone, it is a great place for events whether it’s the alcove which accommodates 10 to 15 people or the main space which can accommodate 30 people. Alvaro has curated the most memorable wine experience at his shop in the Arts District. It’s dog friendly too!!

I LOVE THIS PLACE.

First of all : the wines are an absolute steal, they are so well priced. They are hand picked from suppliers overseas, and I have enjoyed every bottle I tried. John is the kindest, and always has a great recommendation for any occasion. He will offer you tastings, and help you pick something out that you will be happy with. Truly personal touch..

Must visit for wine lovers, the best in arts district, and we never buy wine anywhere else.

This is one of my favorite destinations in the DTLA area, and wine isn't even my favorite drink (although Wine Stop is quickly changing that).

Alvaro and John are on a mission to bring you unique European wines from small vineyards and farms that otherwise rarely reach the US and they want to sell you these wines at exceptionally reasonable prices.

I knew very little about wine when I first walked into their store and each time I've been guided through the wine selecting process in a very personal and educational way. After asking you about your preferences and helping you locate the right wine for the occasion, they will gladly tell you as much (or as little) about the wines as you'd like. I'm still very much a novice, but thanks to them I can feel confident in knowing what I enjoy and exploring new wines with a greater sense for the context.

Their friendliness and their sincere dedication to lowering the barrier of entry into the world of fine wine is what keeps me coming back.

Niche spot to discover various wines of the world. The selection is incredible, especially when you consider the affordable price tag on many of the bottles found inside. Staff expertise is at the high level one would desire when entering a wine specialist store. I mean, I walked in one day and the owner's friend was in there covering for him. What would you expect? I wasn't sure, so I started inquiring about some wines that caught my eye. Little did I know that this man was a true connoisseur, answering all of my questions; even expanding my own repertoire with fantastic stories and histories behind certain bottles found in the store. We ended up having a near hour-long conversation, which was delightful to say the least. What a fantastic experience! I'm excited to go back and hopefully meet the owner some time in the near future. I genuinely recommend Wine Stop to anybody remotely interested in wine culture.

This wine shop has a wide range of inexpensive and affordable drinks can choose from. They have the most helpful and welcoming staff in town than any other wine store. And their costs are still very competitive. I'm going to be back here next week for my dad's birthday. He's going to enjoy their wine here. Thank you!

Alvaro and his team have a wonderful shop that is both welcoming and unpretentious as well as full of amazing wines personally selected by him. I am there regularly, sometimes 2-3 times a week (he does wine tastings on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and I've sampled and/or purchased at least half of his selections. I have yet to taste anything mediocre or boring. I don't buy wine anywhere else in L.A. anymore, unless I happen to need something specific that he doesn't carry. The prices are amazingly reasonable (don't tell that to the people who are buying glasses of the same wine in some of L.A.'s finest restaurants for what you can buy the bottle for here). Alvaro's shop has become less of a shopping experience and more of an opportunity to chat with friends while buying great wine. Come for a tasting, leave with great wine and new friends.

A coworker recommended Wine Stop to me over a year ago, after I had just moved to the arts district from Orange County. I was looking for a place that was walkable and had a nice selection of wines to choose from. I quickly realised Wine Stop was so much more than your traditional craft wine store... The selection of wines are unmatched in quality and price to any store I've been too in Southern California. Whether you're going to browse, buy one bottle, or ten cases the owner treats everyone with the same wonderful experience. I highly recommend going in on a Tuesday or Wednesday night to taste some wine and experience first hand why our community love's Wine Stop so much.

Owner Alvaro Cardenas is AMAZING. I needed to send a digital gift card to someone in LA and Alvaro was patient+kind enough to work with me to get the e-gift card out. The recipient is thrilled and it wouldn't have happened without the exceptional customer service provided by Mr. Cardenas. Highly recommend Wine Stop DTLA and will be using the shop for all my LA-based wine gifting needs.

Wine Stop is a gem, with a winning combination of taste, convenience, and charm. You can find a full range of flavours, vintages, and heritage here. The selection is personally curated by the owner, but prices are exceptionally fair. Come here to discover new wines, new friends, or just to pick up a bottle of your new favourite.

We visited Valentine's Day since I was here a years ago. The room isn't what you'd expect from the outside, and it's very quiet and personal. The man who runs this wine shop was very fun and very accommodating. The food was wonderful, and the atmosphere was perfect. We're certainly coming back!

Along with their excellent service, Wine Stop nails it with their amazing selection of wines at surprisingly affordable prices. From those that are new to enjoying wines all the way to the experienced wine connoisseur, Wine Stop has something that is unique and exceptional to suit everyone's taste.

Each label/varietal that Alvaro (the owner) carries in his shop has been personally chosen by him and directly imported from vintners in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal etc. where he knows the story behind each production. Not sure what to try? Let Alvaro guide you - after asking you a few questions, he'll recommend a beautiful wine that's just perfect for the occasion. Or, go in for one of the weekly tasting events where you'll have the opportunity to try a few different wines and you can select your favorite. Added bonus - many of the wines (if not all) carried here are also sustainable and organic.

Once you come in and experience the magic for yourself, it's guaranteed that you'll keep coming back for more!
