The Skunk Train

Rode the train to Mr Skunks Tree 🎄... Fun ride! Great entertainment! Free hot chocolate and cookie. Even had a "snowball" fight! Everyone got into that. Parents let go and had a blast! 220' decorated Redwood tree was pretty incredible! If you can, do a night ride. You don't get the beauty of the landscape but the tree would be worth it!

Great family (4 generations) experience on the MR. SKUNK TRAIN ride yesterday. Loads of fun for all 6 of us ranging from ages 15 months to 80 years young

We went on the Pumpkin Express ride, and it was a great and memorable experience. It was fun and easygoing. The place they had the pumpkin patch at up was so beautiful, and the kids loved the experience. We already purchased tickets for the Christmas tree ride.

This was an absolutely amazing experience. We paid for the VIP on the Wolf Tree Turn route. The crew members were so nice and entertaining. The scenery was beautiful and the info they give you is interesting. I would 100% recommend this. Made the entire trip for me.

We had a great quiality family trip. Great experience. So relaxing going thru the nature.
I totally recommended, if you are one of those person's who likes being outside. You will love it. It's so relaxing. breathing all that clean air wow i really enjoyed getting off the train and walking thru the trees.
If you enjoy being outside you will love it too.

Would definitely recommend taking the ride on skunk train. The experience is totally worth the cost. The conductors on board made the experience extra special with live music and narrative about the historical skunk train.

My little family loved it! We enjoyed the ride, the stop, the awesome conductor who sang for us ; the kids loved the popcorn buckets. Definitely will recommend to families & friends.

We went on the Free Mothers Day ride. It was great..the singing..guitar playing..harmonica playing..bubble making conductor engaged the crowd..even a dog sang aling..we rode in the outdoor car..weather was perfect..Great family fun..

My family absolutely loved our ride on the skunk train. The rainy day was warmed up by the heat in the middle car. The open car was awesome especially in the rain! All the staff were very kind and went above and beyond for us riders. We enjoyed the music and watching the little ones dance. Overall one of the most enjoyable and relaxing trips we have been on.

Had an absolute blast on the Skunk Train in Willits today! The crew was Matthew, Tim, and Adam, and they were all fantastic! Matthew was a pleasure to talk to, and even gave us food recommendations in Willits once we got back to the station.

Super hot heat wave currently, but the ride was nice and cool through the redwoods! Glad we did the morning ride though, as I could see the later run being super hot on the way up to the summit from the station.

There's a concession section on board, and appears to accept cards, although I definitely recommend bringing some snacks and maybe a very light lunch for when you get to the Crowley stop, where you're able to get off the train and walk around or sit at some picnic tables (it's super sunny here, so bring a sun hat/put on sunscreen, and if you want shade, try and be off the train quickly as there's only a few shaded tables). We were stopped for about ~25 minutes before needing to board again.

The cars with seats were pretty comfortable, but I'd definitely recommend standing in the open air car to watch the scenery roll by. Stayed standing the whole way back and there's tons of interesting sites to see on the way back.

Hopefully the closed tunnel along the line is fixed in the near future, as I'd love to do the whole trip from Willits to Fort Bragg if it's offered.

Lovely ride with an amazing staff. Very well organized. My two young children had a blast. We became members so we’ll be back! Specially because they have a holiday ride starting at the end of November ☺.

What a lovely experience! Went on the Pumpkin Express version of the Skunk Train from Willits out to Crowley and back. Conductors were so kind and accommodating. Fun historical information is shared on the ride to Crowley and points of interest are called out along the way. Wonderful singing conductor was so entertaining!

Highly recommend for a fun little weekend excursion.

This ride is a must. Even the toddler need to have ticket but it’s ok for the maintenance & the service that they continue to provide still. In house toilet, snacks( paid beer, popcorn & other snacks), pet friendly & staff is so humble. You can go back and enjoy the nature in open or sit inside the cabin so you have two options to enjoy. They stop at crowley and kids can enjoy and even you can eat your packed snacks or just enjoy the nature.

Wonderful experience. The conductor is very knowledgeable of the history of the rails and trees etc.. Personable staff very friendly to everyone. Very accommodating to mobility impaired. They have a wheelchair lift and helpful until you are situated.Some light snacks available in board. Get the popcorn it comes in a refillable souvenir bucket free refills while on board. Train leaves promptly. Social distancing enforced. The experience is so engaging that that time went by really fast. Lots of neat things in the gift shop. I will do this activity again someday

Definitely recommend. Took the train ride in Willits which is a 2hr round trip. So worth it. Great photo op. Open car has best views. Music and snacks (pay). Gift shop fun. Staff were all so friendly! If you live in area you get a huge discount. Check it out!

Bought tickets in 2000, lost them for 22 years (& moved twice). Liz at the Skunk Train office honored our tickets and we enjoyed our amazing train ride! Malachi was a wonderful conductor/narrator for our journey through the majestic redwoods! Hope to go again when the steam engine is back in service and the ride can go all the way to Fort Bragg!

If you want to have fun with family and kids, this place is awesome. Posting pictures of the amazing singer on board "Malakai", you kept us entertained all way long

Iconic place for the town , very family friendly and is very friendly with all types of people , does holiday events n train rides on a daily routine

I cannot say enough good things about my experience aboard the skunk train! Absolutely amazing train ride through the Redwoods, the round trip took about 4 1/2 hours which included an hour stop in the forest for lunch. The train has restrooms and a concession stand that sells snacks and drinks, and there is a railroad worker onboard that sings and plays the guitar, he was very good, please tip him if you can! The train is also dog friendly, but I'd call and check to see if there are any restrictions! I highly recommend this adventure!
