Merced County Courthouse Museum

Nice. Free. Self guided tour handout was provided, but you can ask one of the people running it to give you a tour also. We had a guide who was very knowledgeable. Lots of old stuff about the Merced area shown in the museum.

This place is a great place to learn some history about the town. We had a wonderful day of exploring we had a great time great place to take your kids

This is such a wonderful place to visit. A rare glimpse in the past in the city of Merced. It's so very well kept and treasured by the wonderful people at the museum. As a Girl Scout leader, we were honored to put our Christmas tree up during their Christmas tree display. This gave us the opportunity to look around at the courthouse in a way I have not taken the time to do before, and I'm so glad we did. The kids were fascinated by the things they saw. We definitely encourage you to take a few minutes out of your day and appreciate the history of Merced.

Great museum of Merced History. They have a fire fighter exhibit going on right now.

I had some time to kill because check-in at my airbnb was around 4pm and decided to drop by the museum. I'm really glad I did because the tour guide was very knowledgeable about Merced county, it's history and alot of the major events that dated back to the 1800s and early 1900's. She was a great resource for information. Each room she walked with me while being very interactive throughout the whole tour. If you're into the history side of things, I really recommend people to check out this museum in Merced and have the guided tour with the tour guide if available. She definitely made my visit to merced memorable!

Its free and plenty to see. If you want to learn the history of the whole county from Pacheco pass to the motherlode. Check this museum. 2 floors and 15 rooms to explore.

Fantastic family event for the holiday season. Beautifully planned with community participation in all levels. It was a successful event. Well attended. Music, singing, great museum exhibits, creative decorated Christmas trees, egg nog, cookies, and gift shop. Director Sarah Lim, staff, and volunteers did an outstanding job.

Awesome building, cool exhibits,and really knowledgeable volunteers. Definitely worth checking out if you have an interest in local history.

Great resource of local and area history. Love their annual Christmas tree display/reception with treats and their famous eggnog! Also lowe the huge tea party they put on in the spring, wish they could get local chamber music players or small vocal groups from local schools to entertain at those.

All the volunteers are very knowledgeable, and so friendly. We really learned a lot. You can spend a few minutes or a few hours. Beautiful old building too

Wonderful place. Good exhibits. Marvelous place to volunteer at. I should know I've been there so many years I became a fixture, permanent type many years ago in the store. WE ARE GETTING READY FOR OUR CHRISTMAS TREE EXHIBIT ON DECEMBER 3RD. OVER 70 TREES ON DISPLAY. COME SAMPLE OUR FAMOUS PUNCH AND COOKIES GALORE AND LIVE ENTERTAINMENT.

1st time there, many interesting stuff to look at and learn. The people running the museum are very friendly and very knowledgeable of the history surrounding the courthouse and Merced. Locals should take some time to visit this historic landmark.

Courthouse Museum Tea

Beautiful Merced County courthouse dating back to the 1870's. One of just a handful of old original California courthouses dating from that era. Was designed by the same person who designed the state Capitol. I was attending the opening of a new exhibit, one of two or three per year. If your into history it's a great place to spend a little time.

Truly a wonderful historic building with excellent displays featuring the history of Merced County.

A wonderful, free local history museum! Interesting ongoing exhibits plus changing special exhibits highlighting one group or time period. A must do for Merced residents.

Went today to see the 100yr MID exhibit. Great job! It's nice to see it is open on weekends as well as during the week.
