Handwritten Wines

One of the best tastings I’ve ever done in California. Each wine had something unique about it. I became a member and look forward to lots of lovely wines in my future.

This place is not to be missed! The Bread and Butter tasting was a fantastic experience. The personal attention to detail was above and beyond. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and Evan took the time to understand my tastes, and select samples that were to my liking.

We walked into this wine tasting with no expectations and it was the best one we’ve done in California. Mary Kate was absolutely amazing and we had a fabulous time! I really can’t recommend this place enough. If I could give Mary Kate more stars I would!

Absolutely amazing! Lovely little boutique winery in Yountville. They aren’t located on a sprawling vineyard but the wine is top notch! Bill was our host and he was very knowledgeable. The tasting is very educational, much different than the tourist trap wineries. It is also in a great location!

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Not only is the tasting room incredible, but the wine is even better! We also added the bread and butter experience, which was flavorful and enjoyable. We will certainly be visiting again.

This is probably one of the BEST tasting experiences you'll have in Napa. Not only are the wines exquisite, but the people are so welcoming and engaging, the atmosphere is truly wonderful and they have both indoor and outdoor tasting experiences!

Try the bread and butter tasting as it's truly unique to the valley!

If you're a Cabernet Sauvignon fan, then this is definitely the place for you! These are all mountain fruit cabs, no more than 2 acre plots, same clone, same wine making process, so, in a way it's like a palate tour of the Napa Valley!

Excellent bread and butter tasting session - the triple play cheese, charcuterie and three butters (with Bouchon bread of course) almost as good as the wines!
We started with Sauvignon Blanc and then hit the 4 cabs (working our way up through the valley), plus a couple of bonus wines to finish off.
Spent a solid 2+ hours there and never felt rushed. Has a very personal feel.
Our hostess was Virenda, who was engaging and attentive throughout.

Amazing! Cozy and very personal atmosphere. Mary Kate was an experienced and expert wine ambassador. The attention to detail here is top-notch. If you only have time for one wine tasting in Yountville, this is the place to spend your time.

Been a member here for about 5-6 years and love it. The wines are full bodied and represent multiple AVA’s in Napa Valley from Carneros to Calistoga, valley floor to mountain fruit. Their cabs are terrific and only exceeded by the royal treatment you get when you visit for a tasting experience. This visit in March 2023, Zeke was our host and we explored many AVA’s and vintages. Incredible experience. Most highly recommended.

I tried the 2012 cabernet sauvignon carneros, and it is probably one of the best wines I've ever had. It was silky, a little smokey, with hints of cherry. It was so good, we brought home a bottle. We will be coming back the next time we are in Napa.

The Bread and Butter Tasting Experience at Handwritten is one of a kind. The pairings are unique, delicious and thoughtful and the wines were exceptional. To be able to taste back vintages of their Pinot Noir and Cabernet was truly a delight - I did not know I would get to taste wines from 2011 when I booked the experience. I also really loved their Champagne and there are additional options for white wine drinkers, plus an array of reds that they can pull from. The hospitality was great too, Evan was attentive, knowledgeable, and funny! I brought my friends from LA here and they were super impressed. Definitely recommend this experience. Close to Ad Hoc, recommend them for dinner afterwards. Reservations in advance.

Best drink napkins you'll ever find. Call me strange, but walk in... enjoy the atmosphere, and take a few napkins before you leave. Amazing experience, and great place to relax in Napa Valley overall!

Seriously, one of the absolute best wine experiences we have ever had! V is amazing! We felt like we were amongst friends. The wine is absolutely incredible and it’s an intimate experience welcoming you with your name handwritten on the card! If you don’t visit this place and ask for the champagne at the end, you’re not a wine drinker!

Our curator was V. My wife and I came here by suggestion of Dustin from Platypus tours because we are staying down the street at the Lavender Inn.

Listen, I don’t know how else to say this other than words don’t really do justice. We walked in and from start to finish it could not have been more perfect.

V is something special. That woman has a passion for this industry unlike anything I’ve seen before and she educated us better than 75% of my college professors growing up. She made it fun and truly cared about our experience.

500+ wineries in this valley and I’m telling you…it’s Gonna be hard to tip the experience we had here. Thanks V and the Handwritten team!

If you’re visiting Yountville, do not miss a tasting at Handwritten. This charming tasting room is a perfect blend of vintage and chic, creating a charming atmosphere that makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The knowledge of the staff is exceptional, but more impressing is their ability to make you feel like part of the Handwritten family. As a South Dakota girl, this South Dakota winery made us feel like we were back home enjoying a glass of the best wine.

We made the stop as a last minute decision and so happy that it worked out. They were able to accomodate our group with a last minute call. Mary Kate was our tasting guide and talk about an education!!! Our group of 6 fired off questions left and right and she took the time to explain everything so well. She truly made the experience memorable. Outside of that, the space is beautiful. The wines are spectacular, and the overall experience is a 10/10.

Hands down, our favorite place to taste some wine. Mostly specialize in full Cabs, but they sometimes surprise you with others.
We joined their membership a couple years back - get 3x bottles 2 times a year, and they are all fabulous.
When we do a tasting there, we book the bread and butter which is also an amazing and fun experience.
Ask for Zeke! he's awesome, and has a wealth of knowledge about the wines, where the grapes are grown and he shows you all on a map - overall a GREAT experience.
The tastings come free with the membership, but I encourage everyone to give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
