The Palms Apartments

I lived on the top floor closest Palm back in 1995. It had a different feel to it then for sure but it was a fantastic time. Everyday the crows would swarm in flight towards fairmount park like a blanket covering the area. You could just about touch them as they flew. 4th of July the party was on the parking rooftop - a lot of people too. There was no Bominio park there of course it was just a field - one in which old “Chinatown” was located much much earlier. There was the old stater bros. In the shopping center I remember well too. The rent then was 600 for the top apartment. Huge though it was for sure. With a sliding wall that opened one of the bedrooms. I think about this place often - so many fun memories right into my early 20’s. One last thing. That apartment was “interesting” - visited by other formerly living people as they either passed on or stayed around for one reason or another. People could hear their names called when nobody was home among other things, High strangeness, but nothing malicious. I wasn’t the first to experience it either as back then the water heater was located just outside the front door in a closet that had its own door. On top of the water heater in the back was a small framed picture of Mother Mary - what I took to be protection by a former tenant, or a blessing… it is right next to the cemetery after all. Part of the character of the place. But that’s only if you believe in it I’m sure - don’t t let that stop you from living there. Halloween was a lot of fun. That whole area is a part of history - early riverside history and a lot of earlier including of course the indigenous people that lived there as well as the conquistadors - all around. I
So much more I could go into too, like the entrance to a tunnel leading straight to the mission inn located in the cemetery across the street. Yes I was there. There are other secrets too, historical, paranormal, and religious (Hecate has played an important role in riverside, use that for a clue and be amazed an what you’ll find) - it’s all there waiting for you to discover like I once did - and my journey began here, on the 3rd floor of the Palm Apartments.

I have a friend that lives here and they have no air conditioning and they live upstairs with this heat wave hitting us i hope and pray she or her mom do not get sick 😷
