We could not recommend Akes Family Funeral Home more. They were incredibly kind, caring, thorough, and professional, which of course is needed in the hardest of times. They took care of everything (or had resources), which included military services at Riverside National Cemetery. When we didn't remember if we had something to do or needed anything else, they were very responsive and always helpful. It is such a hard time when you're going through this. Patrick and the whole staff were so kind and make sure that I understood exactly what was going to take place. We went through costing one by one. He did the live stream at the memorial service and was incredibly professional. And those who watched it loved it.

The Akes Family Funeral Home made the process of processing moms remains far easier than expected. Ruth and Patrick were so easy to work with, communicated regularly, and were completely transparent about what was going on and when. There were no hidden fees or pricing, which is always nice!
While dealing with the death of a loved one is not an ideal situation, the Akes Family made this part easy. I'm very grateful for their help.

Professional, warm and attentive to every detail. There are so many things to take care of as soon as your loved one passes. The Akes family lovingly and patiently guided us every step of the way. Having used them personally several times I can without hesitation recommend them to you.

We had a very pleasant experience with Ruth and her son Patrick. Their prices were reasonable and you could tell they had a a lot of experience in what they do. She helped us through the whole process and was a big help with the viewing, church services and burial. You can tell it was a family run business because of the level of support they both showed my family.

They are the kindest and most professional people! They spent countless hours with my extremely difficult inlaws who steamrolled into everything, pushing them and me aside - complete boors. They never lost their composure and always kept me, the widow, in the loop. I'm forever grateful for their compassionate care. Ruth was very helpful in guiding us through the process of planning the viewing and service at Riverside National Cemetery for my dad in June. My dad passed away in Chicago where he and my mom lived but the plan was for him to be laid to rest in Riverside so we were a bit overwhelmed not only by the emotions surrounding his passing but also with trying to plan and coordinate everything from across the country. Ruth made this process easier and she and Andy were both very kind and comforting on the days of the events. The viewing room was beautiful and the service was very nicely done. People have to remember that emotions run high during funerals. Everyone is confused, scared, sad, and a whole other mix of emotions, so they are looking for something to be upset about. So please read some of these negative reviews with a grain of salt. I have to give Akes 5 stars. If I could give them more I would. We explained what we had wanted, but we received above and beyond what we asked for. Everything was done on such a timely manner. We had chosen a church which, with traffic, was over an hour and a half away. Akes was professional, kind, understanding, and so respectful. They were on time, polite, and they were there from the beginning all the way until we left. If you want a real all around stand up company, come here. I never thought I would say this, but when I die, I hope my family will take me to Akes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Akes Family!

The Akes Family is so very wonderful. In a time we are experiencing one of the most devastating griefs, they made sure that everything for our sons service was taken care of.
