Metropolitan Mortuary

Metropolitan Mortuary has always been very helpful. Unfortunately, we've had to use them on two occasions - once in 2021 and just this past January. They have always been accommodating, professional, helpful, and empathetic. They even helped when finances were tight in trying to organize things in an economic manner. This past January, we lost a veteran in the family and they even provided the American Flag for us to display at the service. We appreciate Shun, Julie, and anyone else involved in the Metropolitan Family. Thank You and I will always recommend you all to anyone I speak with who would need assistance. God Bless you all!

Losing a loved one is horrifying and completely overwhelming. The staff at Metropolitan Mortuary made this process as smooth as it could have possibly been. They were sincere and genuine about the handling, care and procedures for cremating my brother. More over, Shun reached out personally through phone calls and emails to make sure I knew what was going on every step of the way. There were no hidden fees and each step in the process was straightforward. Shun was so kind and I'm forever greatful for the services and care given to me and my family. I wish death on no one, but if it comes, using Metropolitan Mortuary is your best option.

It’s very overwhelming losing a loved one and looking for a comfortable place to hold a ceremony. After calling many places, as soon as I heard Shuns voice it was like a breath of fresh air. His voice was so welcoming and soothing, like a real person and not some automated message. Everything was so easy and I am forever grateful to Shun and the staff truly wonderful people.

Metropolitan Mortuary buried my mother and my spouse. Shun Newburn is phenomenal. He did such an amazing job and he pays attention to great detail. The mortuary also followed up with me weeks later to assist me with next steps to complete after my spouse died. I am purchasing pre-needs with Metropolitan Mortuary for my other family members.

I found Metropolitan Mortuary via a Google Search when my dad unexpectedly passed away in a different area from where I live. I had never been through this process before, but Shun Newbern's online system made it very easy to select the arrangements that worked for me, and he was always willing to talk it through on the phone. I was pleased with my experience and I would recommend their services to others in need.

I can't say enough great things about Metropolitan Mortuary. This was the first time I have ever had to plan a funeral. I have heard horror stories about how people are taken advantage of in their time of grief, but this was not the case as I explained this to Shun Newburn (Funeral Director Extraordinaire) and he didn't take advantage of that. He met with my sister and I after our dad passed and he walked us through the process with no pressure and in such a kind manor. We instantly felt comfortable and he explained every detail and answered every question with the utmost patience. My sister and I can be a handful and it didn't phase him one bit. We told him what we wanted and he even gave us some "throw ins". At the service, he and his associate (I wish I could remember his name - he was awesome as well) were the epitome of professionalism. I told my son, "When I die, call Metropolitan and they will do the rest." I can't thank them enough for making this process flow without a hitch. I very rarely write reviews for funeral companies, but I felt it necessary to do so - with the permission and on behalf of the family that actually received the services from this Mortuary and it’s Director, Mr. Shun Newbun.

I’ve read some of the reviews and none of them reflect the experiences that I observed. As a Home Health Care provider who specializes in Geriatric Hospice Care, I was in professional awe from the moment this family and I met Mr. Newbun.

Unlike other Mortuaries, Inglewood Mortuary to be specific - Mr. Newbun visited the home of the family to meet with the husband and to discuss the necessary and very sensitive details of how his company would provide care for their love one. He answered questions and responded to every phone call, text and email -quickly and efficiently.

But most importantly, the care he took with the Mrs and how he made her look on the day of her funeral services was absolutely mind blowing. The careful attention to detail that he and his staff took to ensuring that she looked, not only beautiful - but so much like herself - amazing well preserved.

It is definitely not my place to tell anyone which Mortuary to use for their love ones, but after personally witnessing the professional services and the loving care that this family received - I must SPEAK OUT about this Mortuary and its Director, Shun Newbun - simply and NO doubt about it - the BEST Mortuary in Southern California.

There is NO amount of money that I can be paid to say - what is not true. I stand by my words, as to what I personally and professionally witnessed - this company is highly worthy of your family’s consideration -when
that time comes.

I was recommended to Metropolitan Mortuary by another family member. And everything she said about them was true. Mr. Shun Newburg was very personable. Always available when I called. Always had information I needed. He was patient and helpful with info I knew not to ask for.

I really appreciate the work Shun and his team do. When my mom passed, I had to quickly find a place to take care of her. Shun answered his phone promptly and was very patient explaining​ everything to me. He did not pressure me in any​way​, was very flexible with our wishes and his prices were more than fair. Having Shun and his team take care​ of my mom was a big relief and a blessing to our family. I highly recommend​​ - he is an honorable man.
