Pizza king

Today (1/7/23) was my first time trying Pizza King. I usually go elsewhere, but I needed to go to Stater Bros. and it was convenient to grab some dinner here.

I asked for a menu because there was only a blackboard with the specials and I wanted to see the types of pizzas and calzones they offered.

Well, the lady at the counter told me they didn't have any menus and added that it was cash only because it was her last day.

I wasn't sure if she meant it was her last day working there, which wouldn't explain why it was cash only when there was a card reader on the register, so I said, "Just to be clear, do you mean this is your last day in business?" She said yes, that they were moving out of town and closing the business.

So, if you are reading the review after today, the business might be gone. Or maybe a new owner will buy it and keep it open. I don't know, but you might want to call to see if they are still open if it's after 1/7/23.

Anyway, it's a shame they are (maybe?) closing because the pizza was very good. It had a chewy, flat crust that was slightly greasy, but that's how I like pizza. The pizza sauce was slightly sweet and the toppings were generous. The cheese was melted thoroughly without being burned.

The cheese breadsticks were just like the pizza, but of course, the sauce was served on the side.

The antipasto salad was large with lots of flavorful meats, cheese, pepperoncinis and olives. The lettuce was chopped into bite-sized pieces.

Finally, the most spectacular was the calzone. It was enormous for a calzone. Half the calzone filled a standard paper plate. The person I bought it for is notorious for loving calzones but even they could not finish half of this beast!

Everything above came to exactly $41.00 so it was economical to eat there, too. I'm sorry that Pizza King might be closing. Hopefully someone buys it and keeps it open. However, I wish the owner(s) the best of luck!

EDIT 2/18/23: As the previous owner commented, Pizza King is still open. We tried it out today and are happy to report that the new owner maintained the same high level of quality.

The cook was excellent - very friendly and professional - and the food came out delicious. I particularly enjoyed the BBQ wings. So much, in fact, that I single-handedly consumed 8 out of 10 of them. They appeared to be lightly battered, which created a crispy texture, and they were piping hot inside. The ranch dressing was thick and creamy.

As for pizza, it was hot and fresh. The crust was light and appeared thin, as if possibly hand-rolled, and was chewy and tasty. The cheese melted evenly, and the toppings were spread throughout.

The special was around $30 for a 2-topping pizza, 10 wings, and a 2-liter soda (We substituted because it came with a pitcher of beer.)

The Jarritos glass bottles are still available, and there is now a section with a pool table and a few games. There are also several big-screen t.v.s.

This is definitely a hidden treasure. Why anyone who lives in this area still goes to Little Caesar's pizza shame on you. $1 more gets you quality pizza. I had a personal pizza. And hot wings we excellent. 30 min drive for me to bring family but I dont mind. We can make it a fun outing here and shoot pool.

The gentlemen covering for the owner on 9/3/21 was extremely nice and welcoming even under pressure of being busy right at opening. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name but the calzone was incredible and I’m grateful for this experience, thanks again!

Food was insanely amazing! Mango Habanero Wings were to die for. Beer is cold and refreshing and the service was 5 ⭐ sorry I didn’t take more pictures of the amazing food.

This place has got great pizza I give the wings a 10 they were big wings with great flavor great service as well....

I had a last minute thing come up Halloween night and they solved EVERYTHING on the fly. Bam! Everyone in the area loves them. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going there for dinner. TYVM!

This place has been a go to for lunch for me.

The pizza though the toppings are simple is amazing, with the crust being both crunchy and soft.
I normally go with a pep. the topping amount is decent and the pepperonis taste pretty good.

I've enjoyed eating here and I know they are getting a different owner so I recommend supporting this

The food was excellent we ordered 20 inch pizza, 20 wings, cheese bread and fries! No complaints we can’t wait to go back. Pricing was great as well.

So I didn't say anything the FIRST time they burnt our pizza a few weeks ago and we had to wait 15 minutes for another one to be made, but now it's happened again. I think it's pretty obvious some of the staff are new. I don't think it's a good idea maybe to leave brand new employees by themselves to run the place. Just a thought. This place is so good. Way better than pizza places owned by corporations. Their pizza is fresh and crispy. You can eat a slice with one hand and it doesn't fold in half or flop over like the corporation-owned pizza joints' pizza. Haven't tried their wings yet. The antipasto salad is delicious and so is the Italian dressing. I've also had their sandwiches and spaghetti. It's very tasty food.

This place has one of the best pizzas I've had in quite a while! My friend showed me this place and it's just worth every dollar. The drinks are cheap and has a great selection. The Large Lasagna is now one of my favorites as well. There's also Pool Tables which makes it stand out compared to other pizzas places. Overall great place!

This place is amazing!!! Not only is the pizza good but the service is spot on! Not to mention they are all about the kids! We have our baseball team parties here all the time and they alway accommodate us and the boys have so much fun and are full by the end. Cold beer and pizza can’t beat that!

Great service! Fresh Food! Different choices by different days! Clean place! Great waiters & waitresses! The price was even better! We stayed in Huntsville for 2 weeks and we came to this place 4 times! That should tell you how much we loved it! From the sushi, Chinese food to the American food! It was all amazing!

Found out about this place on Yelp close to me. First off, great pizza, super fresh, crust was on point!!!! Beer: ICE COLD!!!! Just the way I like it and they even serve pitchers.This place is so good. Way better than pizza places owned by corporations. Their pizza is fresh and crispy. Pizza King is exactly what they claim, great hidden gem I 100% recommend this place, to my taste enthusiasm brothers. My family hands down loves this place myself included, great service as well. Cheers .

Love the food here especially the Italian Italian subs!!!! The owner makes them SOOOOO good 👍 good atmosphere. If you haven't been here you should try it you'll like it

very good pizza the wings are a little dry but that probably is just to taste I like my wings dripping in sauce which they do sell on the side. U can come in sit down drink some beers eat some good pizza a few games for the kids to play fun for the whole family very clean good service very friendly staff and if you live around the area they deliver

Everything about this place is great the food is delicious. The environment is great for the entire family. They have one pool table, arcades and dart boards. They have a dart tournament on Tuesdays. Very spacious place. Nice hidden gem!

Found this place just traveling through. They were about to close early because it was a hoiday and they had no customers but they opened right back up without hesitation and made our pizza and very nice about it as well. On top of the great service, the pizza was really great and the place was very clean.

The food is great. Always nice conversation when we go to pick up. Prices are fantastic!
