I loved this trail, it was pretty long so we didn’t get to finish it :/ but it was still a wonderful time!!!

If you like hikes with a goal, this is a good option. Unlike Cowles mountain this trail is greener and offer occasional shade. There are some steps to climb, but other than that it's your regular unpaved hiking path. On the way back you may want to slow down a bit if you want to take easy on your knees. View from top is hazy, but there are some macro photo opportunities. There was no gate where we parked, so the time was not a constraint.

Love this trail!
This is a very short and difficult hike but it has beautiful, amazing views! It's a very challenging trail and I believe van do this! Dont think because is just 1 mile is a piece of cake but don think to give up either 😉My first time I said 1 mile? Cool! But after half mile I was thinking to go back🙈but patiently I did it and damn the view was spectacular! Very steep and some stairs close to the top since that day not idea how many times I already hike this amazing trail❤Just in case Kwaay Paay trail is located by the dam in Mission Trails

Hiked down to see how much water came through the week of Feb 2019 rains, WOW! It was obvious from the branches up against the foot bridge at Oak Canyon, the silt over the Grinding Rocks that the water (15' )at Jackson Staging area that San Diego had rain, and the Dam had LOTS of water going over. This was several days AFTER the rain.... I wish I'd had a chance to get up to the Saddle Back area. I bet the Falls are something up there! Spring fowers here you come.

Lots of trail options here so it's really up to you whether you want easy through to hard, and if you want to run or bring a dog along. My favorite hike was doing it just before sunrise. Highly recommended!

Beautiful scenery, trails for all difficulty levels and not too far from home. It gets busy on the Holidays so arrive early to find parking. Also, the conservation center has a lot of information and historical reconstructions.

Challenging incline for this shorter hike, but well worth the amazing mountainous views at the top!

Amazing pocket of nature and history right in our back yard. Honey bee hives, grinding stones used by Kumeyaay tribe going back hundreds of years, forgotten stonework by later settlers, lots of trails for kids all the way through technical climbs, etc. Great spot to spend the morning, or all weekend

Did a gorgeous evening hike on this trail! The second way back down (without stairs) was steep and a bit slippery if you don’t trek deliberately on the rocks. Also, we parked in the lot, not through the large gates, because they get locked early around 5pm maybe the earliest. Don’t get trapped inside! There is rover making sure you’re out or they lock your car in so I’m told. As someone who’s a beginner hiker but also exercisers regularly, I found the hike a comfortable challenge. It’s short too, round trip maybe 35-45 min depending on your level.
