Wonderful staff and really tasty food!

We tried the skordalia, which is a type of dip made of mashed potatoes, garlic, and olive oil. It is so good!

The lamb shank is also superb!! Tender and fall off the bone. The tomato sauce that is in just wonderful too.

We came here because place next door only accepted cash and we didnt have any. But glad that happened bcos the food was phenomenal! The sauce in that shawarma was mind blowing! Portion size was good and I couldn't even finish it. The service was exceptional as well. Love the photos on the wall, the decor and overall vibe of the place. We will definitely come back when we visit Santa Cruz!

Highly recommend the Moussaka. Very tasty. The salad that comes with it is legit. It includes a variety of olives and is so fresh!

Vasili's is the best. The saganaki, the tzatsiki, the greek salad with the best feta cheese. And Gage was our wonderful server, super attentive and friendly. Drove down from San Francisco to enjoy this gem.

First time here for me. 20 yrs since my wife was a regular here. Like she told me, this is the best Greek restaurant in California. Highly recommended. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, great smells, excellent food, large portions and tasty leftovers.

Great food, we had both the lamb and chicken plates and had to take it home because it was a large plate.

I had the Lamb Gyro, oh boy. A lot of food, meat was perfectly tender, the fries were not soaking in grease. My girl had the burger which too was crafted beautifully with the taste out of this world. The staff was super kind and attentive, our waiter especially was very polite, funny, and made us feel at home. Great food, Superb customer service, can't wait to go again.

One of my favorite restaurants in Santa Cruz. I have been going to Vasili's for close to 20 years, the food is of excellent quality and the service has always been amazing. If you are looking for big portions go for dinner, if you prefer a lighter meal with a slightly smaller tab to go with it make sure you go for lunch.
Pretty much everything on the menu is fantastic but for my money, a fried cheese appetizer followed by a plate of Greek meatballs is very hard to beat.

We loved this place so much we catered it for our wedding rehearsal dinner. The gyros and souvlaki plates are amazing. Our guests were raving about the food all night- the chicken, pita, and tzatziki are so good. Julie, the head chef is also the sweetest, loved working with her.

Pretty waitresses, great food, no waiting to be seated. The decor has a nice Greek element but overall it is pretty institutional. You go here for the food not the setting. We managed to park right out front but if I didn't find that spot, an alternate would have been challenging to find.
Apparently there is a take out menu I didn't see. You can't order Gyros at dinner but they are available to take out customers.

Our family have been eating here for years - it is one of our favorite places to eat. We particularly like the Saganaki, keftethakia, dolmas and of course the delicious chicken soup. We generally make a meal of the appetizers, but really everything on the menu is good.

I ordered the lunch chicken souvlaki plate. It comes with a generous amount of fresh salad with a light dressing; the salad is actually my favorite part of this meal. The chicken was lightly marinaded and comes on a bamboo skewer--delicious! The pita is always soft, fresh, and delicious. It is the perfect compliment to the tatziki. I substituted the roasted potatoes for the rice. The rice seems like the reconstituted type, so I always sub with the potatoes. This is a consistent winner for me; I've never been disappointed. I always clean my plate. I took home the chicken soup and enjoyed that a day later. It has a wonderful mix of tart lemon, garlic, and chicken broth and makes for a nice comfort food meal at home.

I'm a regular here. Once a week for years and I LOVE it! Their Greek Meatballs are amazing as an appetizer or in a gyro. Friendly wait staff and good cooks. Their is not one thing negative I have to say.

A 5-star doesn't mean perfect... and we took the food to go. So I can't comment on the "service" other than the staff was very friendly (we had a "to go" order).

The restaurant looked clean. Parking is a little bit limited.

Food was excellent! We tried a bunch of different menu items. Loved them all!

If I return to Santa Cruz for business or pleasure, I will come back to Vasili's!

Maybe this is just because I’m a visiting Midwesterner and my pallet isn’t that refined, but this is hands down one of the best Greek places I’ve ever been. I could tell everything was fresh and local. Amazing food. If you like Greek food this is a must see.

I accidently ordered the meat moussaka because I read an older menu online (no veggie moussaka during covid-19). They replaced the meat moussaka with a veggie gyro at no cost. Very generous, great service and super tasty food!! Strongly recommend!!

Hands down the best Greek food in Santa Cruz county. Very authentic and traditional. One of my favorites for over 20 years. They do serve alcohol, including some really good Greek micro brews! Try the Skordalia. Trust me.

Some of the best Greek food I’ve had in a very, very long time. Everything was so flavorful and well made. I cannot recommend the roasted lamb and Kefte enough.

This place out did all our expectations, I can’t wait to get food from here again and try more of the menu.
