A an amazing spiritual place next to Monterey bay. Chill out after 11am Mass and listen to the ocean 100 yards away.
The garden used to be more spectacular in the past but still is nice.
Book store has reasonable prices along with the drinks.

I have to admit, I was actually super nervous about going into a church for well-rated coffee. Was it just the parishioners that banded together to rate it? Would I burn? I was so delighted that I stayed the course and gathered the courage to enter. The atmosphere is beautiful, both the indoor cool vibe and the peaceful outdoor seating that is surrounded by incredible gardens. The coffee was also divine! (Pun intended) I had the cappuccino which came with lovely art and a delicious taste. I highly recommend that you stop in if you are anywhere near Santa Cruz. I loved it so much I even bought the beans. (Sanctuary!)

Shrine Coffee is the BEST idea a church has had (since salvation)!!!
This was my morning home for the week I spent in Sta Cruz, and the only place I truly miss.
The place is beautiful, parking is easy, the food and coffee are insanely good (oh my, the honey lavender latte 💕).
And the magic of this spot, as always, is the people working here.

I couldn’t have chosen a better day to visit Santa Cruz as the weather was amazing so I decided what better to do than grab a coffee and walk along West Cliff. I ordered a simple Vanilla and Honey Latte here and it was perfect. You know the true skill of someone’s craft if they can master simplicity. If I’m back in Santa Cruz again I’ll be stopping here. 5/5.

Jesus makes a decent cup of coffee, never knew! Good number of pastry options. Reasonable seating in & out.

It is such great location and coffee & tea.
Just couple steps away from the coast and good size of parking lot.
There is a fountain ⛲ within the garden to enjoy the breeze.
Ordered the summer fog, tasted like milk tea, good favor, not so sweet.

Visited from Salt Lake City and wanted to find a unique coffee shop to visit during our stay in Santa Cruz, and this was it!! Loved the atmosphere. The indoor seating was cozy. The staff were skilled and super friendly, and my order was one of the best lattes I've had in a long time. Not only provided good coffee and service but an amazing view! We loved the outdoor seating as well and how spacious it is. Definitely stop by for a unique experience here if you're visiting Santa Cruz, no affiliation needed!

Insanely good! Beautifully done design in a bit of a surprising setting adjacent to the church. Wonderful attention to detail all the way to the cute booth seat tucked into the bookcase and fireplace wall to the words faith and love carved into the metal straps for the beams.

Friendly, knowledgeable barista. Best espresso (Cat & Cloud) I’ve had in years! Lovely indoor and outdoor spaces.

I fell in love with this place. Not only they have a fantastic coffee and pastries, but the location cannot get any better.

What makes it absolutely perfect is the fact that the staff is incredibly nice and they make you feel like home.

I hesitated a long time till leave a review because I WANT this to remain a locals little know secret.
Alas, if you like coffee and want a pleasant and calm experience this is the place to be.

After visiting Shrine Coffee on multiple occasions, I am finally taking the time to write about how much I love this little shop. The location adjacent to the Shrine church on West Cliff is truly unrivaled. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but their pastries and hot chocolate are enough to bring me in every time I’m in the area. I cannot recommend Shrine coffee enough to anyone looking to relax, take in the sites of Santa Cruz and enjoy a great latte.

Shrine is one of my favorite things about Santa Cruz. It’s clean and comfy, the coffee and service are good, and you can walk to Steamer’s or around the gardens with your coffee.

HIGHLY recommend this place for amazing coffee! We got a bag of their coffee to brew at our Airbnb and it was amazing! I also got the Summer Fog drink at their shop and it was the BEST iced London fog I’ve ever had! It’s nice that it has a pretty little garden area next to the outside seating area too!

This place has a great location - grab a vanilla latte with a extra shot. Made well and taste great. Took a stroll down the coast and checked out the vendors that were selling some cool home made jewelry, soaps, snacks, candles and much more. The Shrine has great outside and inside space to enjoy some quiet time.

A very good Catholic coffee shop located next to the Shrine of St. Joseph. The atmosphere is very welcoming and they have a good selection of coffee

The location is super great. It is close to the sea. Would be a nice place to do some writing, reading! The coffee is excellent as well!

Friendly service, great coffee and calming environment. Love getting coffee from here when anywhere near West Cliff Drive. The patio is gorgeous and the fountain restorative to sit next to.
