Rohnert Park Building Department

Both the staff upstairs and downstairs were very friendly and were able to answer all my questions. I was out in about 40 minutes with a business license and building permit in hand.

This is probably one of the most slowest city’s to deal with. The staff has no type of urgency to address anything! A simple permit that should only take
A couple weeks turns into months. On top of that staff will wait until
The very last minute to get things done, and even then have an excuse to why they couldn’t get to it. How can anyone or company get any work done!

I have called and emailed about multiple projects, they keep sending me fines but won’t respond to either voice mails or emails… Very much an abuse of power and authority. I wish I could give 0 stars

Absolute joke. I’ve been trying to get a permit to start a small residential job for about 4 months with no response. I have called and emailed this department at least three times each passing month and I haven’t even gotten a response. A total of about a dozen emails, as well as phone calls. Of course, no one answers the phone calls, and the i person office is “closed.”

How are contractors suppose to get ANY work done? And how are homeowners suppose to invest in their own homes?

I am absolutely stunned at how non existent the help in the RP building/ permit department is.

Negative 5 stars is appropriate for this department.

You call the main phone line and the secretary who should answer the phone states that she is on vacation and then you can't get a hold of anyone. Step it up RP, if someone goes on vacation have a plan to deal with it...

Never pick up the phone, respond to emails or voice messages! The building department phone number sounds like its not in service.

Worst building department I've ever been to.
