It's very pretty place to walk in the Spring time. Benches along the way can be quite steep so a nice place to stop and rest for a moment And to take some stunning pictures. after we did our hike we decided to go up to the umbrella trail to the umbrella tree and don't be fooled by the fire road, it is a pretty steep rough walk up but when you get to the top it is very worth it!!!! one of the best views in Sonoma County by far.

Great place to hike and explore. Multiple trails, the the trail to Umbrella Tree is a
steep trail but plenty of shade to rest and it is well worth it. Once you get towards the end your in the sun and almost to the top. Parking is avaliable and restroom avaliable.

Better than expected. Lived in sonoma county for over 20 years and never knew this park. It was quiet, not crowded, good work out going uphill and good amount of shades from redwood trees. It was about 25 minutes from Petaluma. 0.8 mile uphill hike was just good enough for me. Great view of sonoma county cities. Great local park.

Today (November 2018) was my first North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park experience. Trails are well crafted, easy to negotiate for someone with Parkinson's. Beautiful vistas will yell at you if you don't bring a camera.
Revisited (March 2021) the park recently. I would say late Winter, early Spring is preferred visiting season to view green pasture and wildflowers.
Parking was ample. Bathroom facility was clean. However, the entrance is not well marked; missed it the first and second time.

Great hike up the hill with fantastic views over the valley at different points. Nice mix of shade and sun and the babbling brook is a great start. Herd of deer and flock of wild turkeys made it interesting and the sound of the gross in the pond was relaxing.

One of the nicer trail areas in the Santa rosa area. If your up for a nice long hike you can start in north sonoma and go into jack London. It's a beautiful trail. Photos from March of 2021.

Went here during a thick fog and really wasn’t expecting much, but were stunned when we got to the Umbrella Tree. We were within the fog, then above the fog as we watched it move through the hills. So beautiful. The redwood forest at the start of the trail was also magical.

Well-maintained trails combined with challenging ascents. Great views when you climb out of the switchbacks. There is not a lot of trails here - really 1 main trail up Sonoma Mountain. Also these are not technical rocky trails, but still thoroughly enjoyable.
Now that this park connects to Jack London State Park, it is effectively much larger and another piece in the growing Bay Area Ridge Trail.
Parking is a steep $7 per day, but I'm likely to get the annual parks pass. There is a well-maintained bathroom at the parking lot, but no potable water: be prepared for your hike/run/ride!

Umbrella Tree Hike is a 0.65 mile hike up a steep, rocky dirt road but you are rewarded with a beautiful, expansive view of a bucolic landscape.

This is a great place to hike and usually not too busy. Beautiful views and a moderate incline.

Its beautiful at the top! The climb from tbe usual $7.00 parking is a gentle sloping that meanders the golden knotty ridges we see from Petaluma Hill Rd just pass Sonoma State heading south.

It was raining which made the walk a bit miserable but the trails are amazing. Wish we'd had longer

easy 4+ miles, out and back, although there is a steady increase as you go up the switchbacks to get to the view at the top. Bet the shady parts will be appreciated in the summer months!

Calm winter in the park. Nice weather for the MLK holiday day out. The kids missed Sugarloaf badly, this is an alternative for the creek but no sufficient water to have fun yet. Kids are excited Sugarloaf is opening soon after the fire.

Although less developed than some other regional park locations, this one offers diverse experiences. The umbrella tree trail is not too strenuous and offers a great overlook of the valley. The woodland picnic area is an easy walk and is in a great redwood grove near the creek. Both are worth the effort to reach them.

It's a tough walk up the Umbrella Trail, but when you make it to the top, it's well worth it.
