In 2018 Richard did my taxes, in November 2021 I received a letter from the Utah State Tax Commission stating that my taxes were incorrect, that I owed close to $600 in back taxes which included a $50 interest payment.

I drove an hour and a half to drop of the paperwork, and have Richard try to solve this issue the day before Thanksgiving.

I contacted him in December, and January with no results. Being told the State needs their time to review everything.

Contacting him in February I am told that he has had trouble contacting the auditor. Being frustrated, with the service from Richard he told me to pay the taxes and washed his hands from it.
I told him I would deal with it.

Talking with the Auditor today I was informed that a letter of seizure was being sent out for non payment. I was also informed that my Federal taxes were incorrect and that $900 dollars was owed on it and paid in 2019.

The Auditor suggested that I hire a lawyer and take North Star taxes to court. This is their major mistake, yet they don’t want to remedy the problem.

Their customer service is subpar. How can a CPA make such big mistakes on my taxes, then be unwilling to resolve the issue?

I will never use North Star Taxes again or recommend his services. I think H&R Block could have done a better job, and cheaper.
