Simi Valley Arroyo Creek Half Marathon

One of the largest parks in our city! Complete with a duck pond and several new and updated playgrounds for people of ALL ages to have fun on! Love the HUGE spaces you can reserve for events/parties!

Pros: 1) I paid a discount price, $45 instead of $85, 2) the area was beautiful 3) they had enough water stations and porta potties, 4)nice souvenir shirt 5)nice finishers medal
Cons: 1)goody bag was not full of goodies 2) goody bag logo was from another run "Thanksgiving 5k"? 3)We were promised pancakes and NONE were given nor were they even mentioned :( that was very disappointing because it makes me feel as if they were intentionally being deceitful!

Clean park, but a large population of non-desirables.

This half marathon is highly disorganized- several of the aid stations were not even set up when I got to them, and the volunteers gave the WRONG DIRECTIONS which sent several people onto the wrong course. My sister ran a full extra mile and did not get a time because a volunteer directed her to make a wrong turn. I was directed the wrong way as well. This is the second year in a row that I know this has happened. When I emailed the race director about it, he would not even respond.

One good thing- I did like the course. I wish the race was better run.

" This review is actually for the 2012 race. Read on and see why. The "event" sucked. I wasn't timed and the race organizer basically called me a liar when I brought it to his attention. Race started early, which meant some folks (including me) got a late start. Course was not well marked. Several of us ended up down a dead end which lengthened the run by a good mile. No food left at the end . Some water. they were breaking things down when I crossed what was left of the finish line. They must have shut off the mat because I was not timed. I kept my own time though and I know there were people behind me that were not timed either. Nasty people, stay away from this event. "
