Black Bear Diner in Mount Shasta is a must-visit for a big, satisfying breakfast before hitting the ski trails. They open at 6 am, the portions are HUGE, and the staff is incredibly welcoming. Plus, there's always plenty of parking, so it's a stress-free start to your day.

Drove from Seattle to SoCal on my way back from a work trip and I just had to stop at the first Black Bear Diner. It was snow season and it was the perfect pit stop for a hot meal. The service was great as usual. The dining room was somewhat smaller than some of their other locations but warm and welcoming. I had a steak dinner with soup and a cornbread muffin, which was soft and delicious (kinda wish I had ordered some to go). Highly recommend you stop by to enjoy a delicious meal if you find yourself nearby.

We visited there in a group of 5 and ordered different foods from the menu; so we can share. Good food, big portion size. I ordered sweet cream pancake with eggs and chicken sausages. I loved it the most!! Highly recommended!!! Vegetarian omelettes are also good. Hash browns were a bit over-fried though, but didn’t taste bad. And the view of Mt. Shasta while dining was the best!! The waitress was super friendly and served us really good!!

We love the Black Bear Diner in our hometown of Puyallup, WA. When we happened upon the Original Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA we knew we HAD to stop for dinner. 🥰

We finally managed to get the original Black Bear Diner location, that spun off the newer branches in different cities. We visited this place twice, once for dinner and the next morning for breakfast! We were that impressed :)

We ordered lots of dishes, pancakes, waffles, vegetarian omelette ( Made with egg and not a vegan option, if you are wondering) Portion sizes are huge and perfect for sharing. Garnishings and presentation of the food was top notch too. Each dish has the calorific value as well. The staff is extremely friendly, and dont hesitate to let me know if you need to customize your order.

Good place for a quick pit stop if you are driving on I5, this place is right off the exit.

I stumbled upon this Black Bear Diner without even realizing that it's the first one that's even been opened. It's a delightful dining experience. Wintertime the views are beautiful and this place feels cozy and welcoming. The service is fantastic and the food was delicious.

Black Bear Diner is a true gem near Mount Shasta Ski Park. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Their menu is packed with comfort food classics, but I highly recommend the Chicken Avocado Club. It's the perfect post-ski indulgence, with perfectly grilled chicken, fresh avocado, and a creamy ranch dressing. Plus, the location is super convenient, just a short drive from the slopes. Overall, Black Bear Diner is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delicious and friendly dining experience near Mount Shasta.

Fantastic service, huge portions & great location; No black bears though ;) - We were greeted by a warm & welcoming staff, was a great touch after a day of driving / hiking. Located close to Mt. Shasta camping or hiking trails, make for a great pit stop either before or after your adventures for the day. Definitely worth stopping by & experiencing the legendary diner! No black bears though (dad joke, ha ha) Highly recommend this place!!

A diner with a jukebox, but with a big "bear" twist. What's not to like! The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and courteous.

Our service was wonderful, Sarah made sure to answer all of the questions I had and was very helpful when it came to which food contained allergens. She was very quick and when I asked for something she brought it right out! Because of Sarah's caring service and attention to detail, I am able to give this resurant 5 stars. We will definitely be eating here again!

Don’t miss the opportunity to stop here at the original Black Beat Diner in Mount Shasta. Best home cooked breakfast you’ll find anywhere. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. The decor is homey and cute. Food portion sizes are huge and prices just right!

Noel waited on us on Thursday and Brandy, on Friday both were very professional. It a little busy they seem to be short staffed.
So if they forget something stay COOL just ask again we did and they got it promptly.

Have no clue how someone can give less than 5 star review- been coming here on and off for 15 years. I live in the bay area so for a long time to come here was a treat on many levels. As a restaurant chain, they’ve been super successful and it’s understandable.
Really wish they could have an up charge substitute of a beef like plant-based meat. As well as a bacon-free version of the ranch dressing and cream gravy; what I can, and should eat, has changed over the years for my own personal preference and the benefit of the planet.
