I highly recommend the Farmhouse Veterinary Hospital. I recently relocated to the area and needed to find a vet for my rabbit. I was grateful the receptionist did not hesitate to book a wellness appointment for my rabbit. Dr. Widener was very generous with his time. Actually, he was amazing. He explained rabbit care so thoroughly, so patiently, so pleasantly. He demonstrated his passion for empowering pet owners with knowledge to the end of giving your pet better health and therefore a happier existence—just look at his website if you want to know what I mean! He showed interest in who I was as my pet’s owner, and it was obvious that he cares about pet owners and understanding their circumstances for taking care of their pets. Also, the clinic is in a restored old farmhouse tucked off the road among the trees. The setting was the key reason I called this clinic early in my search for a new vet. The farmhouse is a welcomed respite from typical clinics, and I found it charming and soothing. Dr. Widener is one of a kind, and I have complete confidence I’ve found the best vet ever for my rabbit and any future pets. Thank you!

I desperately reached out to Farmhouse Veterinary about their Euthanasia services as our 13 year old dog who was just diagnosed with cancer took a terrible turn in health late Friday. His face and neck had swollen to the size of a basketball and he wasn’t eating or drinking or able to stand up and had labored breathing. I was not able to bring him in as he is 100 lbs and my husband was not available to get home to transport him. They assessed the information and I did let them know I had prednisone
(which I know is given to animals too). They checked verified his breed, size and weight then let me know how much to give in a dose. They asked to let them know how he was on Monday when they open up. Thank you so much for your kind and compassionate care for both Bear Bear and myself. I have referred your hospital on both of my social media accts. and people have said they would make sure to go there for Veterinary care for their fur babies!! Bear Bear is not totally out of the woods but you have certainly made a horrible situation turn around and it is sooooo appreciated!!

These people are angels on earth! I am homeless due to an abusive ex husband. We live in our car. And my dog Monkey had a severe ear infection and after calling every vet clinic around for an emergency appointment Mike saw her that same day and treated her. Upon doing the examination I mentioned I thought she had some dental issues and he found that she was desperately needing extractions. They helped me out and took such good care of monkey. I will only use Mike and Jenny for any veterinary care from now on.
They are truly compassionate and caring people who understand that sometimes in life people can’t always pay for vet care but still desperately love their animal and don’t want them to suffer! I cried more than once in their office because after doing my very best to come up with the money for Monkeys care I fell short and they were there to help me in my time of need! Jenny even pulled 20 dollars out of her purse to help me cover the remaining 14.00 of my bill.
These two will forever be in our hearts and you’d be crazy not to take your precious pet to them!

My dog is my baby and this place took incredible care of my kid. They did surgery on his teeth and the Doc is so committed to his profession. They went above and beyond. That place is sent from above. Thank you so much for taking care of Mr. Harley. I will not take my pets anywhere else.

Dr. Mike is always great. Best bet I've been to and always takes his time to explain everything. I have a reactive dog and he is the only vet that is allowed to touch him.

My cat had been to another vet who had told me that my baby would just be sick for the rest of his life. Within two visits to the farmhouse vet clinic my cat’s health issues were resolved. Six MONTHS of horrible diarrhea every single day was fixed so quickly, it felt like a miracle to be listened to and have my cats issues being treated seriously. These guys CARE, it’s not just about money with them. They want your babies to be happy and healthy, I took my second baby there and Dr. Widener could instantly tell he had a rough life in the woods before I’d adopted him. They really are wonderful, I will stay with them unless I end up moving. They’re worth every dollar!

Very thorough in analyzing what is wrong with our dog. He took a lot of time to come up with a new feeding plan for our dog.he helped us to shave the hair out of his ears. Hopefully, this will solve his problems.

Our 5yr old guinea pig, Penny Lane started passing blood. We couldn't tell if she was leaking blood or if it was in her urine. We just knew it was a lot of blood and she has always been a happy, healthy, plump piggy.
So we were devastated when we realized she was sick. I started calling vets in town who see guinea pigs. None of them would see her because bleeding is an emergency. And I won't name names but multiple exotic pet vets in town told me to take her to one of the two emergency vets in town. Which I already knew don't see guinea pigs. But the staff I spoke to said they did so I called both emergency vets anyways. Of course when I spoke to the emergency vets they told me they don't see guinea pigs so I kept calling and was super scared and discouraged thinking no one would see us.
Them I called Farmhouse and they were able to work us right in because it was an emergency. I got Penny right over there and Dr. Widener did her exam. He listed a few possibilities and said we can confirm with an x-ray but the x-ray really wasn't within my budget as the exam and medications were already a surprise expense since I didn't factor sick guinea pig into our monthly budget.
I knew if we found something on x-ray it would require surgery which we really couldn't afford so we decided to start with antibiotics and see if that would knock it out. Within 3 days on the meds her bleeding stopped and it's been over a month and it hasn't come back. She's eating and voiding normally and is her sweet, chonky piggy self.
We know Penny is getting up there in age and she gave us a scare. But we're grateful to Dr. Widener that he treated this as the emergency it was even though we weren't established there yet, got us right in, got her proper medication and saved our sweet Penny girl.
So thank you Dr. Widener!

I am beyond greatful that I found this vets office they are beyond anything i ever expected we had been to several vets to try and help our dog and we werent getting anywhere. Everyone wanted to do a surgery we couldnt afford to do...so i did some research and looked around and found farmhouse vet and made an appointment, we took our dog in and the vet said that this was the worse ear infection that he had ever seen. In the long run what happened was he saved our dogs life and helped us out financially with all of it and its to the point now that surgery has been pushed off because he is doing so well, he does have to be on meds for the rest of his life which hes 10 or 11 so few more years but he may not need surgery and he is still with us and more like a puppy than we have ever seen.

My DUCK WAS NOT GONNA MAKE IT AND THIS VET WORKED A MIRCLE!

If I could give this vet more that 5 star's I defiantly would.
I have 2 pekin baby ducks and one seemed not to be doing as well as the other, I first thought he had a niacin deficiency along with a upper respiratory infection.
I set an appointment up with Dr Widener for a few days out, But I had gotten more concerned with the way my male duck was breathing and I had called back actually speaking with the vet himself.
You could tell right away the care and compassion he had in the tone of his voice as we spoke, He could tell I was upset and concerned about my duck and suggested he should be seen sooner than later and made us an appt for the same day. When we arrived I was very impressed with the care & compassion the staff had as well as the Dr, He took one look at my little guy without examining him yet and knew what we needed to do.
As we put Donald the duck on the table to finish his exam the Dr was very patient and listened to all my questions and concerns & addressed then all, as well as giving us extra info on what was going on with Donald.
When I had bought the ducks they had stated the food they were on was what they all eat and is good for them, Well by eating this Donald had depleted all his vitamins and thiamin I believe it is called and pretty much was on his death bed! He absolutely didn't have any vitamins left in his body.
The Dr suggested we get him off the current food immediately and put him on game bird ration and crushed up cat food and to call him with any questions or concern anytime.
So we did exactly this. to my surprise I honestly didn't think Donald had a good chance of recovery but..... he did a full turn around! you could just see him getting stronger & stronger day by day! He was able to walk further without falling down. then flap his wings without falling over to running the full yard with his girlfriend Daisy! I was amazed!
We just did Donald's follow up visit on 05/05/20 a month after his first visit, and the Dr was ecstatic about his progress and pleased with the results!
Dr Widener was pretty positive Donald would have a good outcome in this since we caught the issue in the nick of time, he said if I would of waited any longer Donald would of probably had permanent Damage and possible may of needed to be put down as I would not want him to suffer.
Dr Widener did not read or wasn't taught anything about how to fix the issues Donald had but instead had learned them on his own, along with may other things. This vet has worked a miracle and saved my babies life, He is very Honest caring and compassionate, will sit and listen you and you concern, You can tell its not all about the money as it is with most vets this guy truly cares! He doesn't rush you in and out of your appointment & is very patient.
Dr Widener has know became my family vet and will be seeing all of my babies, 5 Dogs, 4 cats, 2 ducks and chickens if needs be. Its hard to find a good vet that you can trust with your fur babies. And just after one visit he and his staff has won us over ! Matter of fact he will be seeing my German Shepard this week to check her out for a T.P.L.O surgery that has gone bad elsewhere.

Michael is a wonderful vet. He genuinely wants animals to get better. I'm always impressed by his knowledge, something he is more than willing to share with you. Because of one specific symptom, he was able to cure my cat of a spinal infection. He is also helping another one of my cats through thyroid treatment and recovery. He is honest in his assessments and will tell you straight up what is wrong and how to fix it. Admits when he needs to do more research, and doesn't want to just medicate and send you on your way. By far the best vet I have ever been to. Thank you Michael.

The best vet in town. They truly care. They saved two of my dogs and they remember their customers and their pets as if they are family. Michael is fascinated by medicine and is truly the best veterinarian I've ever met. He knows a lot about human medicine as well. Like, a lot. Don't bother going anywhere else in town. I sincerely mean that. Thank you guys for taking care of George and Eddie Spaghetti and being great friends to my father and I.

Let me start by saying I don’t write many reviews, so I must be impressed with this Veternary. We moved to Lacey a little over a year ago and adopted our first family dog from Tacoma Humane Society where she had contracted Kennel Cough. We did our research and chose to visit Farmhouse. Doc Michael took his time to do a thorough examination and gave us the meds that cured the cough. Our geriatric cat (Doc Mikes term for him, HAHA) came down with a respiratory infection a few months later, so naturally we took him to see Doc. Once again, Doc did a thorough examination, clearly recognized that he needed antibiotics and recommended a full blood work up since he is definitely getting up in his age. Prices were very reasonable for the time and effort Doc puts into the exams. Fast forward to a couple months ago, when we decided to go back to Tacoma Humane Society where we found this little guy “J-O-E-Y”, who once again had Kennel Cough, imagine that!! Same thing, took him to see Doc, exam, meds, more meds, Doc,meds,Doc, then I notice blood in his urine. Took a sample to Doc. Something was seriously wrong. Doc diagnosed it right off the bat, but didn’t want to believe himself because Joey is so young. Bladder Stones, verified by X-Ray on the spot, without an appointment. Yes, Doc Mike absolutely cares about animals. It’s now two weeks later, a week after the surgery, I’m happy to report Joey is up to no good around the house and we couldn’t be happier for him. Highly recommend you go see Doc at Farmhouse before and/or after you need too. Pictures are most of the stones removed from Joey and Joey himself. Doc took an hour after closing time to tell me everything about the surgery and draw it out. Joey is now on a prescription diet to keep this from happening again.

I had and old rooster that needed to be put down. I called and made an appointment but got a call back within a few minutes saying I could bring him in right then. I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this because I didn’t want my poor rooster Jack to suffer anymore. I brought him right in and Dr. Mike was so kind and gentle, thank you so much for your understanding and kindness in such an emotional time for me and my family.

Been going here ever since I was 7 years old. Never had a problem or concern, always nice, thoughtful and most importantly passionate. I have a cat who almost died 7 times, and I have the Doctor to thank. My cat got heart, liver, and kidney failure when she turned 10. He gave her a life expectancy of 2-3 years…She is now 17 and a half and still going!!! Highly recommended

We had a hard time trying to find a vet that would look at and work on ferrets. I am so glad we found this veterinary hospital. They were incredibly professional, and it was an amazing experience! The doctor knew exactly what he was talking about! Highly recommend to everyone.

I definitely recommend Farmhouse Veterinary. Yeah the prices are high but so is absolutely every other vet clinic around. IF you can even get an appointment. I called looking to get my duck in and they got me in right away sending the urgency. It was a little bit different of an environment at first but dont let that off-put you. The Veterinarain sat down with me for literally 2 hours discussing all the different aspects of my ducks condition and the options. I had her results faxed in from her previous veterinarian and he actually took the time to read all 22 pages. I feel Dr. Weidner genuinely cares about my pet. I also feel he is very experienced and highly intelligent doctor. I also feel he makes sure to stay educated with new veterinary practices. also, I know that financial gain isnt his sole priority. My duck underwent intravenous injections 2x a week for multiple weeks. Dr. Weidner could have charged me a vet visit fee for each time but he only charged me for the cost of the medication.

Our regular vet couldn't give us appointment before June and dog had an open sore so called Farmhouse Vet and was able to get in next day
Doctor Mike checked out the issue, treated the problem and explained in depth the cause and treatment. Very impressed with the loving care he gave my boy. Doctor Mike will be our new vet.
I thought the price for office visit and shot were in line with other vets. There is ample parking and large waiting room. Highly recommend using g Farmhouse Vet clinic 👌
