This is a magical spot , "the cemey" . There are many family members and neighbors buried here, so it's fun to visit and recollect.

As kids this place also served as playground for my brothers and the gang of kids we came up with. From pickup tackle football games in the "privy", sleigh riding, "war", king of the hill, etc., or a great place to go for a walk to clear the head.

There are some interesting monuments here and plenty of stories associated with many of its residents. Be sure to look for Benjamin Barge monument at Halloween when some ghost, goblin, or ghoul places a jack o lantern on the top of his head!

Historic names of northeastern Pennsylvania about in this cemetery. Most notably Asa Packer who founded the town of Mauch Chunk in the early 1800s, renamed Jim Thorpe by the town dads in mid-twentieth century. Great views of mountains, awesome old trees and hours of peaceful gravestone reading.
