John's bars Llc

Like a lot of people stuck at home this year, my mind turned to creating a home bar. I had considered this a few times over the past few years since my wife and I bought our house and thought I had a good space to do so.

Being reasonably handy, I had thought about building it myself and had looked at numerous sites and plans to do so but the time or opportunity never presented itself, so I was excited to find the Johns Bars website. It occurred to me that, as I was conveniently located near to Johns location, I could just as easily pick the bar up so after bombarding John with questions (which he always answered with all the information I needed), I placed an order for the bar on July 31st 2020.

And then, I waited, and waited, trying to be patient - I was not expecting the bar to be ready in the quoted 6-8 weeks as I had firstly seen some reviews which corrected my expectations, and secondly, could imagine that in THIS year, I would not be the only one wanting a bar at home! Nevertheless, I was still beginning to worry about the length of time it was taking so kept reaching out for updates, which I received promptly.

Once the bar was nearing completion, it all came together quite quickly - I do not believe the timescale issue is with building the bar itself, but more to do with the incredible backlog they must have - once building commences, the process is quite quick; you just have to get there!

I was able to finally collect the finished bar on 11/11/2020, so roughly 14.5 weeks after my initial order. It was extremely well packed in 2 large boxes - I have never seen so much brown paper wrapping. I am serious in that it took longer to unpack than it did to put together. Once it was put together it looked excellent, as you can see from the pictures! I wasted no time in stocking it!

One issue though was that when I put it together I was missing the 2 shelves to complete it but again, luckily I am near enough so I could quickly go and get them.

So, to summarize, I've listed some pros and cons below:

PROS

Very easy to assemble - but read all the instructions thoroughly before starting!
Extremely well packaged - if you cannot pick it up as I did, you should have no issues with damage in transit.
Its sturdier than you might think when first unpacking it - most of the wooden panels are not very thick (I believe you can upgrade to thicker lumber if you wish) but once put together its very solid.
The quality of stain is very good
John/Matthew are very easy to work with and will accommodate any special requests if they possibly can.
It looks amazing when completed - I have had many compliments!

CONS

Time! Don't expect it to be completed in 6-8 weeks in the current climate! I discussed this with John/Matthew and they said they would be revising their timescales for completion so that peoples expectations could be more realistic
While the packaging and instructions were good, the packaging of the screws to put it together was somewhat vague in respect of 'which' screws to use where - if you're handy you can figure it out, but this could be clearer.
The footrail is, frankly, not very good and I quickly upgraded mine to what you see in the pictures. I really should have opted not to include it.

Overall though, this was a very positive experience and I would recommend Johns Bars to anyone in the market for a home bar that is totally customizable to your needs. For reference I should add that in addition to upgrading the footrail, I also added the lighting and the counter electrical receptacle myself.

Amazing work done here I have to say, John (the owner) was very easy to talk to and left no gray areas in the discussion for building my bar. Since I am local going to pick up the bar was easy and the staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to helping me load my bar into my truck, 100% would suggest to my friends and family who are looking for a bar in their home.

Very happy with my purchase! Would recommend for anyone looking for an affordable at-home bar.

TIME: Took about 8 weeks from order to delivery, which is what I was told upfront, communication was good throughout.

ASSEMBLY: Everything was packed extremely well to protect the materials. Instructions were fairly easy to follow, they do a nice job marking everything, and pre-drilled holes.

QUALITY: Good, met my expectations.

VALUE: Excellent value. Could you get a heavier bar by hiring a local carpenter/woodworker? Sure, but you will pay 2X to 4X more, I looked into it. Great bar for the price.

So I just got my bar in today and I had a motorcycle ride scheduled so I asked my daughters to just open the boxes. Three hours later I got back and they had put the whole thing together! That should tell you how easy it is to install. Although the instructions looked a little non detailed, my teenagers figured it out so I feel like anybody could.

As far as how long it took to arrive. I got it in about 12 weeks instead of the promised 8, but it’s during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC and a national shutdown, so I think people are being a little harsh with their expectations. I’ve been waiting on a Kobe Bryant Jersey for two months for God’s sake.

As far as quality, the foot rest could be a little nicer, but either way I’m installing actual thick plumbing pipe to the ground. As for the wood there’s a few chips but ultimately for the price I’m extremely happy. I know people are giving these guys a hard time for not getting it faster, but then they also get mad because they’re not responding to every message. It’s a lose lose it seems. I’d recommend this company again because I did a lot of looking around and these guys are the cheapest around with good quality. If you wanna nice bar to drink with buddies at home for a good price this is it.

The glass i had cut by a local glass company. It was $150 only because the Plexiglas was white, i still utilized it for the back area as you see. I love it man. The look people give when I open that garage is pure amazement. These guys got a good product. Work with em.

I have to post the final look for our basement bar! It was definitely a process since we ordered the bar before we were even done buying our new home, but we are absolutely in love with the finished product 💙 if anyone is looking for a custom bar, I would highly recommend John’s Bars! They designed the front and back bar exactly as I envisioned it and the install instructions were super simple!

5 stars for John and his team. I started working with John 4 months ago on a custom design for a bar in my garage. My husband can invite friends over and we can hang here, plus this was pretty affordable so getting the nod from the boss wasn't too hard. Bar arrived like they said it would, and it wasn't hard to put together. Pretty sure this saved me money over doing it myself. John advertises 10-12 weeks on his website, and he should probably raise that by a few weeks, but it's no big deal. We totally understand the shortages on everything these days. Glad it's here, friendly people to work with.

I know that some of the reviews on here are not so good to say the least, but my personal experience with John’s Bars was overall a pleasant one.
Because of the amount of orders that were ahead of mine, it took roughly 4 months for the bar to arrive, but we were quite pleased when it did.
John communicated with me very well and worked with me to make sure all the features I wanted were added.
The bar comes with easy assembly instructions and we had it built in just a couple of hours.

For a reasonably priced bar you can have friends over at that gets the job done and looks good, I would recommend John’s Bars.

To start I was a little weary of choosing John's Bars because of the poor approval rating he has. Since me and my wife were moving to a bigger house I was looking for a handmade bar to compliment our basement. Upon browsing his website and seeing all of the different models and prices offered we decided to go with a standard straight bar with a black cherry stain and gloss polyurethane tops and the order was placed. We received a rapid response by the start of the next business day and John made the process super simple. Every part of the process was documented and at each stage we received pictures and finally pour ship date. The bar took a little longer than expected but he was super apologetic and got it to us in a timely manner. Installation was the easiest part as I only needed a drill and an hour of my time. This bar is a staple of our basement and we couldn't be happier. Thank you John and Co.

My experience with John's Bars was extremely excellent. I was cautious after reading some of the reviews but gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. The form for requesting the type bar I wanted was easy. The quote came right in. Payment plans worked out perfectly. I was looking for delivery in about 8 weeks. After the 8th week and no bar I got nervous. But a simple email to John will ease your mind, just email him late at night, you'll get a response. It took 10 weeks but the bar was absolutely amazing. His shop is only 30 minutes from my home so I decided to pick it up. His shop was booming with bars being made and bars ready to ship all over the country. I was truly amazed. I met John and some of his workers and they were polite and busy. Everyting I ordered was in 2 well packed large boxes, well almost. The beer tap I ordered was missed but John shipped it direct to me in just a few days. I couldn't believe the whole bar was in 2 boxes. I thought it be a mess to put together but instructions were easy to follow and everything was taped and marked like putting a very easy puzzle together. It took me about a half hour and was done and ready to go. I would certainly recommend and if I ever need another or new bar, I know Johns Bars will be where I go. Thanks so much John H.! My suggestion to any folks that have any worries, just relax. You'll get your bar and be very satisfied. These guys are working like crazy and seem to be extremely busy with orders. I've seen them in action first hand.

Hands down John and his team did an awesome job building our bar. I wanted to get my husband a custom bar down for Father’s Day. I spoke with John on Mother’s Day and asked him if it could be done. He told me absolutely and we received it 3 days before Father’s Day. John communicated with me and answered all my questions through the process. He was patient and he assured me everything would be completed on time. John labeled everything so putting it together was easy and took an hour. The staining/finishing cage out perfect. The price wasn’t bad at all for this bar. John helped me make this a perfect Father’s Day. I most definitely recommend John and his team!!!!!!

I ordered a very specific customized bar as a gift for my husband whos been wanting one since we got our house 2018. He wanted it very specific, hes a little difficult and particular about..well alot of things lol.
I was nervous when it came to requesting all the details that my husband wanted. I was shocked and impressed with how welcoming, professional and easy going John turned out to be! He had no issue with meeting all the specifications and details for my husband's bar! Since I live locally John even invited me to come see the shop and the bar in the process of being built!!! Meeting John in person, along with all his staff was really amazing. I knew without a doubt that the bar will turn out amazingly and John's company was the right company to choose to build the surprise gift bar for my husband!
Well after 13 weeks it arrived! (which I was surprised it was finished and shipped that fast!)
The look on my husbands face when he came home that day was priceless. He actually teared up by not only the gift but how beautiful & perfect the bar he's been desperately wanting for years.

I recently went through the process of purchasing a home bar from the owner, John Haenn. I went back-and-forth via emails with John for about a month until I finally figured out exactly what I wanted. I even changed half way through after sending him the deposit. John was outstanding at getting back to me no matter what time it was and I mean whether it was 9 o’clock in the morning or 9 o’clock at night, usually within a day, he would respond with genuine input. However, after going back-and-forth with John over this bar, due to personal reasons, my financing fell through on my new home. I’ll just say this: John is phenomenal and any concerns you have about his business, I wouldn’t believe until you deal with him directly. He’s a true businessman. But also has a heart and understands things happen. Thank you for your true professionalism. I write this as a retired chief of police from the northeast and I’ve seen a lot of fly-by-nighers and John is absolutely not one of them. Thank you

Friendly and professional, and we had plenty of questions in the beginning. Never bought anything of this size before online without having a store to go visit and see it, but John was happy to do a zoom meeting with us and introduced us to their entire operation. Definitely made me feel better about buying, and we're really enjoying our new home bar!

I had originally posted 1 start due to lack of communication/no idea about where the bar was in the production cycle. However, the team did reach out and follow up with satisfactory communication.

I have received the bar and built it in about 1.5 hours. Definitely could have taken alot shorter, my battery for the drill kept dying. But super simple to put together!

I am very happy with the final product. Thank you very much for answering all my questions, for your full attention, very good job overall I had to wait a little longer than the time they promised but it was worth it completely. Just recently purchased the L-shaped bar from this company and I must say, I’m beyond impressed with the final product. I had to wait a little longer than expected but it’s all worth it. Cannot wait to have my friends come over for a karaoke night!

The bar came in 3 boxes and assembly was simple. Had it together in about 30 minutes. Communication was pretty good throughout the process. Quality of material seems decent too. I chose to stain myself so the photo is the bare wood. I read a lot of negative reviews and while things may not always operate perfectly, I was happy with my decision to use John’s Bars.
