John Allison Public House

I had been wanting to try this place for the past two years. Finally, I tried it two weeks ago, and my wife and I were not disappointed. We had the Old Bay seasoned wings as an appetizer, and they were excellent.
For our main dishes, I had the Prime Rib pannini sandwich with Aus Jous gravy, and my wife had the Bleu cheese salad with steak. Both dishes were very good.
The Prime Rib was tender and not overcooked.
The food was so good, we went back a week later. The second time, we tried the cream of crab soup for appetizers. Amazingly delicious.! For the main course, I had the reuben sandwich, and my wife had the fish and chips . Both were very good. The fish consisted of two huge pieces of haddock. Unfortunately, the French fries were served under the fish and therefore made the fries oily and soggy.
Service was very fast and friendly.
The dining room is spacious and very clean. Prices are reasonable.
We will be regularly going back.
There is also a bar/ pub behind the dining room for those looking for a stiffer drink.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

My son just moved to Greencastle. We were glad you were open on a Sunday evening. He ordered a burger and fries. He said the burger was cooked perfectly & very juicy, and he thought the fries were outstanding. I ordered the fish and chips. Wow, what a feast! I only ate about 1/4 of one of the two pieces of fish. Very good and now I have lunch and dinner for the next day. I think the fries were THE BEST I've ever eaten -- loved the seasoning -- Don't change a thing with how you make those fresh cut fries! We will definitely be back. Next time my husband and other son come along to visit, this will be the restaurant that is at the top of the list!

We stopped here for dinner as my husband had heard it was very good food. It was 1/2 price burger night which he took advantage of and said it was delicious. Fresh burger patty not frozen. I had the homemade chicken pot pie. Holy moly was that so good! Highly recommend 🤩

Food, as always, is fantastic. The Reuben is top notch! Service is just as great!

Overall , great experience! Good food, lovely atmosphere, the bartenders and servers are lovely! Definitely a place for locals and out of town people. Put it on your list to visit, you won’t be disappointed!

We recently held my sister’s baby shower in a private room at the restaurant. The staff was so accommodating, had the room set up beautifully, allowed us to bring in and set up decor early. The food was great, reasonably priced and the service was top notch!!

Everywhere I go, I search for a proper set of Fish and Chips. Who would have known that it was in Greencastle Pennsylvania? The John Allison Public House is easy to access and has good parking. There is also a separate bar area if you're not bringing the kids.

My maple BBQ wings were amazing, FOH manager Miranda was extremely kind and attentive and served me herself. I love the atmosphere, and all in all A+ from me. They are the best bar & grill in Greencastle PA.

Love that we have this great little spot in our town. The owners are the best. We had a surprise gathering for my husband on Friday night. They had everything ready. Beth was our server and she was outstanding. The food was served promptly and was perfect. We love the prime rib. The drinks were flowing without needing to track our server down. We are thankful to Jeff, Jay and their awesome team. My experience is always great at the JAPH. If you haven't tried it, you should! Thanks JAPH (especially Jeff for collaborating with me).

Food was very good. Haven't had a bad meal there yet. The waitress was very friendly and had a sense of humor. Will go back and highly recommend you give them a try

I enjoyed my meal, French roast beef panina. Side salad was enjoyable. Server forgot to mention $2.50 upcharge as too many carbs with my meal as stated. Also, consider salad greens include Romain as some cannot tolerate as much land type greens. (I will request this next time.)

The burgers are great. Love the atmosphere. The staff is very nice. Great place to go for date night. We really enjoy our time there.

Very nice place. Food was very good and the service was great. Nice size portions as well. We'll be going back again.

Food is great with decent prices. I think our waitress was just overburdened. She was very pleasant, but just busy. We'll still go back.

Excellent food. Great option with private lounge area. Order steak a bit rarer than you would normally would.

Went back for more. Loved the French Onion soup. The crab pretzel and crab cake were good and we liked the shrimp tacos.
