I'm 48 and been experiencing Ra symptoms for 6-8 months. My primary care doctor recommended Dr. Albernoz to see me. In less than 5 weeks I went from pain and stiffness in my hands, feet and shoulders being a 8-10 daily to being a 0-1. I feel amazing. Like I am 22 again. My strength is back. 100% thank you.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Albornoz for over two years and I have always felt like I am in extremely good care with him. I was referred to him after months of being in pain, after seeing other specialists, after many tests and no diagnosis. He was thorough and diagnosed my situation, provided the right level of information, answered my many questions and suggested recommendations for treatment. I did not expect to have such a diagnosis at my age but I was glad to understand what was actually happening and that there were treatments available. Dr. Albornoz is very caring and extremely knowledgeable. The treatment path that we have chosen has been very effective and I am actually living my life pain free. He’s always shown concern, takes time to understand me and what I’m experiencing. He has also been incredibly responsive whenever I’ve had questions. He is always professional, caring, and recognizes the unique situation each of us has and is able to draw on his many years of experience and knowledge. I highly recommend Dr. Albornoz.

Doctor Albornoz worked wonders for my Mother’s pain. He literally saved her life by checking her heart during a routine visit for her knee. Upon further examination, she needed heart surgery. Very thorough. Highly recommend.

Saw him for about a year. He wouldn’t give me medicine until he could figure out what was wrong with me. The only issue is he never found out what was wrong so I was without medicine for a while. I felt like he gave up. My new rheumatologist found out what was wrong and has given me medicine after only 2 months.

I saw the doctor years ago on the recommendation of my primary at the time. They were trying to find a diagnosis. He did inform me that it could take time, which I understood. He seemed nice at the beginning, but he became too familiar, calling me sweetie or hon. He also had a weird obsession with insisting I was depressed and kept trying to put me on medication for said depression. Eventually I stopped going. After over a year and a lot of money in copays there was still no diagnosis forthcoming. I got frustrated and gave up.
Fast-forward to 2020 and my bloodwork comes up with a positive test for arthritis. My current primary suggestions Dr Albornoz. I played phone tag with the appointment desk for at least a week and when I was finally able to get an appointment, it turned out that they booked me for the wrong office. I was a little irritated, but misunderstandings happen. What turned me off was that it was made out to be my fault, and I didn't even get a, "Sorry for the inconvenience." Their message was, "If you want an appointment at the other office, it'll be a while." The staff, to me, was rude and unprofessional. Add that to my previous experience with the doctor and I will not be going to see him under any circumstances.

I have been going to this practice for a few years. In my time there I've informed Dr. Albornoz of my issues and have always been told some thing about Diabetes, which I don't have. Its unfortunate that I wasn't taken seriously until Mid June when I decided to find a new Rheumatologist. I was in a flare and thankfully I've been diagnosed. In my opinion had he listened to me and taken proper steps maybe my condition could have been medically treated early and I wouldnt have been in such a painful flare. My condition has been untreated for years and has caused irreversible damage.

Easy to get appt. Comfortable, clean office, etc.
After asking me a battery of questions and a brief medical examination, Dr. Albornoz explained to me that he sees 3 or 4 patients like me every day, and it is the same thing. He went on to explain that constantly being in pain is the consequence of an unhealthy lifestyle, and that exercise, Tai-Chi, Yoga, and Aquatic therapy are options that I should consider.
I corrected Dr. Albornoz, and tried to remind him that each patient is unique, and should be treated as such. I went on to inform him that I've tried or been trying those and other options for several years.
After what I can only describe as an impromptu education in bedside manners, Dr. Albornoz apologized and explained that there are pharmacological approaches available. He went on to share that his personal philosophy is that they remain short-term. I was under the impression we were off to getting me at least a fraction of the treatment that he was being paid and is morally obligated to provide. This was surprising, since he seemed very competent and professional at the beginning of my appointment.
I was then informed that there is a chance there may be a potential complication with some of my medicines, so he will need the fax number for my other specialist before he is able to do anything. I offered the telephone number, but was instructed to obtain the fax number, then call the office with that information.
I called back a few hours later at 3, and the office was closed. Probably closed early because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nobody mentioned that when I said "I am going to call back with this number, and then I will be able to schedule another appointment."
This is the part when the receptionist probably would have warned me about how fruitless my efforts at contacting the office would be, if... Well, I am not sure why she didn't say something.
That was about 3 weeks ago. I've called about 10 times. Still nothing. Part of the problem is that I believe Dr. Albornoz works out of 2 or 3 other offices, and you have to call the office he is at when he is there if you need to speak to someone. I am of the opinion that this is unacceptable for the price that is being paid for these services.
I am writing this review because I just waited until the same day and time I had my appointment, as to ensure I would be calling the right office at the right time. I got a familiar message saying the office is closed and will reopen at another location (unhelpful). It appears Dr. Albornoz is now on vacation.
Good for him. Sucks to be one of his patients, though.
If you have other options, I highly recommend pursuing those first, and leaving Dr. Albornoz as a last resort.
Disclaimer: I am a 40yo biracial male and have observed poor ethical behavior on the behalf of healthcare professionals over many years. I believe my 75yo mother would probably have gotten adequate treatment without having to explain her uniqueness, previous efforts or having to teach Dr. Albornoz any manners. I would think her service would have wound up at 4 stars, and she would have been in less pain now, as well as over the past several weeks.
