Northern Light Espresso Bar and Cafe

Super cute stop in the heart of downtown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. I wanted to find a great cup and there was a really good vibe there. I got a maple latte which was on the sweet side, but totally delicious. If you have a moment and want a nice cup of coffee or relax environment it’s a nice stop.

I love the new latte flights they have. They now have flights so u can try like 4 different drinks out. The Irish cream was great and I probably would of never tried it but it was on the flight and pretty great. Along with a raspberry flavor. I love their vegan chili!!!

Was on my way to New York and decided to make a quick stop at Northern Lights. This cafe has an immaculate atmosphere and tons of seating on the ground floor and upstairs. Throughly enjoyed my coffee and the cute office related posters.

This place is AWESOME. I'm not from the Scranton area, but my sister lives there and we wanted to have a baby shower for her. We ended up finding Northern Light and I'm so glad we did. Absolutely awesome place! Jenn was wonderful and welcoming and made everything easy. The food was do delicious (best macaroni salad ever) and the drinks were perfectly refreshing. We definitely will be stopping by every time we visit the area now.

If you were to ask me where the best place to grab a cup of coffee has been out of all the places I’ve had the pleasure of trying, I would without a doubt hands down recommend Northern Light Espresso Bar in Scranton!

I’ve been dreaming of their coffee since I first visited and now make it a point to stop by any chance I get up to the Scranton area!

Without fail, they have made me the richest, creamiest, chocolatiest iced mocha latte that I have ever had in my life each time I have dropped by.

In addition to their incredible coffee, Northern Light also offers tea, baked goods and more! You have got to try this place out for yourself! Absolutely worth the drive up here for the coffee alone. ☕

My favorite place to meet in downtown Scranton! The coffee is great and the atmosphere is very cozy.

This place was great. I loved my drink and the atmosphere here. Looks like an awesome local coffee shop for Scranton. Comfy seat, great service and loved my espresso, tasty.

I was here a couple of hours this morning catching up on work, sitting within earshot of counter. I had an excellent Americano. But I’ll let others review the products. What I observed was a Master’s class in customer service from whom I assume is the owner; if not, he should be (thin guy, 40s, slicked back dark hair). No fake-friendly greetings, actually no smiles really. Instead, a pleasant kind of conversational back-and-forth with a clear focus on making sure he understood what the customer wanted while explaining options and consequences of the decisions. No wonder the line was to the door for most of the time I was there.

Best place to sit down and relax in Scranton! I went out of my way to stop here for the catchy name, and loved the vibe. And perfect latte!!!

Even after 5 years they still have astounding coffee.
They serve amazing coffee. Nice quiet place, great lunch type of foods and desserts. Like what Starbucks should really be.

UNCLE GERRY’S TIP: Bring a pound home, and use a french press to make some top-notch coffee and always grind your own beans.

Dropped in here for coffee and a bite. Quiche was unique and hit the spot to start my day.

Yummy almond milk cappuccino, friendly staff, good music, excellent work environment and meet up place. Books to read, and games to play. Lots of places to sit. Clean and cozy with fun decor and local art on the walls.

One thing about coffee shops for me is consistency. You want a drink to taste the same regardless of which barista is making it. I'm glad to say that this place always has consistent drinks. The staff is nice, good, food and a nice atmosphere. There is also this little area on the second floor to hangout if you want some extra privacy for studying and such. Definitely check this place out!

To be clear, this is a coffee and tea shop. The food is good, but very limited. I didn't remove any stars because it's not meant to be a cafe, just a coffee shop.

That being said, the atmosphere is very relaxed, chill, and pleasant. The teas are all excellent, I've heard the coffee is fantastic, and in general it's a nice place to come with your lover or friend and chat over a cup of coffee. Definitely the best coffee place on the square.

Shop local! Great little find on our overnight stop in Scranton. Well-prepared coffee, pastries, bagels, yogurt and quiche. All for a to-go cup and forgo the top. If coffee is not your thing, they offer tea as well.

Love the Vanilla Chai tea. Got it every morning I was in Scranton. Great service too. Put in your list of places to stop when in town.

a fairly relaxing joint with a good latte and great chocolate chip muffins. nice and yellow and fluffy. they play ABBA on Sunday mornings too. super cool joint

This has been my favorite Scranton cafe for the past two decades. It has always been an escape for me, a lovely place to go and recharge, meet with friends, refresh on a long day and make the most of the short days. The quality of food and drink never disappoint. The staff is always beautifully welcoming & competent. There is space for chatting with friends as well as space for quiet studying or working.
My least favorite part is trying to find a parking spot, as it is on the square. But once you do, it is a great central location to wander and explore downtown.
Absolutely worth a visit! ❤

My daughter and I attended a kick off party here for the "Festival of Lights " which is a fundraiser for a great cause "Toys for Tots." The spread of food was healthy, vegan, and provided fresh baked chocolate chip and sugar cookies. The bottled water was PH balanced and refreshing. The five star atmosphere reminded me of a well liked coffee bar located in the west village in Manhattan N.Y.C. The cozyness and ambiance of business is simply tranquil. There is also a second floor to drink your Java, grab a wrap, and just decompress. I would recommend this business additionally for a holiday get together, family reunion, or business party.
