Hops and Barley is a wonderful restaurant that pleases patrons with a very varied menu filled with deluxe entrees such as surf and turf, exquisite salads and a whole bunch of comfort food.

We arrived on a Friday between 6:30 - 7 p.m. and were immediately greeted and seated, however there weren't many tables available, despite the large dining room.

A shared appetizer of Buffalo Chicken Cheese Fries, consisting of popcorn chicken sitting atop a bed of fries, both covered with melted cheddar cheese and spicy wing sauce. The appetizer was delicious, the serving generous, and we knew some of the dish would be packaged up at the end and brought home.

The hot turkey sandwich platter was also a smart choice, with the turkey piled onto an open bun with fries, and all of it smothered with gravy.

The balsamic fig chicken salad was also amazing, with marinated grilled chicken served over field greens with tomatoes, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, and feta cheese with a balsamic fig dressing.

As the name implies, Hops and Barley serves beer, of course, but there is also a large, fully equipped barroom, so one can enjoy a cocktail before or after dinner.

With a seemingly large patron base, a menu that covers all the bases, and a friendly, professional staff, this place looks to fire on all cylinders more often than not. This venue should be on everyone's radar. Do yourself a favor and frequent this restaurant. I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

If I had to sum it up with one word... PHENOMENAL!!!
I cannot even describe the experience of this place. Every dish that came to our table was impeccable. Let me say If you have any activities planned after eating here, forget about them! This place sends out plates loaded like its Thanksgiving dinner and you're heading home bloated! The service is wonderful, all the staff were extremely observant, friendly & kind! All I can say is we'll definitely be back especially with there extensive menu choices.

Recently visited hops & barleys for the first time after living in the area for over a decade and it was outstanding!

I got the French onion soup and taco salad. Both were awesome. The soup is probably tied for my favorite in the area (with checkerboard).

My husband got the chicken wing sandwich and fries. He also liked his. I can't say anything for the sandwich but I did snag some fries. I prefer thinner shoe string like fries that are crispy and that is what you get here.

Our friend got the hops penne and ceasar salad. It's his favorite dish. Though the salad does come with mushrooms which is unusual for a ceasar but just a heads up if you don't like them.

We will definitely be back as there was several items on the menu I can't wait to try.

I had an absolutely great time celebrating my friend's birthday last night. I hadn't been there for years, but I was extremely pleased to see that the amazing service and delicious food have remained as awesome as I remembered it. If you are looking for a fun night out, definitely check out Hops!

Extensive regular menu and weekly specials as well. Find a spot at the bar for drinks or cozy up in a booth in the separate dining room. Staff members are friendly and efficient.

I've been going there for a long time now, and the mix between good dining and a bar atmosphere has worked exceptionally well here. The food is always great, the staff and owners are wonderful people and the prices aren't bad either. I'd recommend the signature French Onion soup because I haven't been able to find one as good anywhere else in and around the valley.

Really enjoyed this place for our first time. We ordered the Salmon burger and the Black and Bleu burger. Both were phenomenal! Loved the side of pasta salad. Fries were good and they even have vinegar for the fries. The staff was really friendly. Everything is priced affordably and they have a wide variety of options on their menu. Good beer and great atmosphere. Great for casual dining, date or late night hangs. Definitely will go back to try more off the menu!

The food is always amazing! I love the atmosphere, I always look forward to coming here to have great food and good company.

I’ve been wanting to try this place forever but I’m not in Luzerne all that. Luckily I got the chance today and it did not disappoint. They had a full bar with anything you wanted to drink. The menu was decent size with many good looking options that where very reasonably priced. I decided to go with a Rueben and a French onion soup. The French onion came out first and it was so flavorful and cheesy. Then the Rueben came out and she was THICCC with delicious thousand island and sauerkraut. It was a great meal and a good experience. Definitely give this place a try for a casual date night or just happen by.

Absolutely the best bar I have ever been to in my life. The bartenders are all amazing. I don't even get me started with the food! Everything on the menu is phenomenal and there is definitely something to eat for every type of person.

This is a GREAT local pub style restaurant. The portions are massive for the price. The food has always been the highlight of my visits there. I've honestly never had a bad meal and I've tried almost everything on the menu over the years. You do need to walk through the bar area to get to restaurant seating, but there is a kids menu and patrons are accustomed to seeing kids walking through the bar with their parents. They can accommodate large tables, I've been there in a party of 20 once. There are also some small booths available and some two seat tables out in the bar area.

I've been going here for over 20 years if not longer. Food is great. Portions have gotten smaller. The restaurant however does need a makeover. It's pretty old inside and dingy. Time to get rid of the creepy pictures and brighten it up a bit. Definitely needs new carpeting.

Been going here for about 3 decades. Good is wonderful, staff is even better, drinks are cold…you can’t want anything more from your local watering hole. Also great for a family dinner or group.

In over 20 years I've never been let down by Hops. Took my son to Seseme Street Live at the arena and didnt want to deal with. Crowds from there so decided to stop at Hops. the taco salad has been my favorite for over a decade.

Every year the first day of school my mom took my brother and I to hops to " celebrate" the new school year. Zebadiah did start 1st grade last week but tonight was out first chance to try to keep the tradition alive. Hops is and most likely always be my favorite restaurant in nepa. I had my all time favorite a chicken wing sandwich but instead of grilled I had it fried, oh it was amazing. My mother had some sort of charbroiled salad( yes I know it sounds odd)but it was out of this world. My boring child had a grilled cheese bacon on the side ( what is that all about) and of course like mommy he saved room for desert!
