When you talk about the best burgers in JC, Box Cafe has to be in the conversation. You wouldn't think it since not many people know about this place and it's really a shame.

I finally had the chance to try the burger recently and had to stop by a second time in a week to confirm. It really is that good. From the quality of the patty, cheese, and bread, to the way it's cooked, seasoning, and sauces - it checks all the boxes in the best way. Everything works so well together and you can taste the love and care.

Seriously try it out. Even the salad it comes with is great. I'm looking forward to trying out their other stuff but it's gonna be really hard not to get the burger every time.

PS I hear they'll be trying out burger specialties for takeout on Thursday evenings. Will be looking forward to this!

We found this place on google and had to check it out. The food was amazing, the staff were extremely friendly, and the ambience tied everything together. We ordered the croque monsieur, avocado toast, and dark chocolate cafe. Everything tasted homemade. We can’t wait to go back next weekend!

Our daughter, Rachel and her partner, Antoine, live just a few doors away from this wonderful restaurant. It has a delightful and cozy atmosphere, with an eclectic and tasteful decor. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the host was incredibly kind. It was easily our top choice during our week-long stay, and we highly recommend it to others.

Box Cafe is a hidden gem! We had an amazing, intimate dining experience at this gorgeously designed cafe. The hospitality was first-rate, and the food was delicious. My girlfriend had salmon cooked over a blood orange, which she said was her favorite salmon of all time! I had the beef filet, which was incredibly tasty and perfectly cooked. All of the sides - from the carrots to the potatoes to the corn - were amazing. We also had two rounds of bread toasted to perfection, and a rich dark chocolate cake for dessert.

We will definitely be going back and trying out the breakfast options! You need to check this place out, especially if you're looking for an intimate, French-inspired dinner. 10/10. Oh, and it's BYOB!

Last week we were in search of a very last-minute caterer for a private event in Hudson County. Linda from the café responded to an online inquiry immediately and same day we had the menu set and ready to go. The food, delivery, and set up was fantastic. I truly can’t say enough good things about working with her and their chef. We are so appreciative of how they threw this together last minute for us and our clients were very happy. Looking forward to working with them again in the future for another private event! We also had some dietary restrictions and they were able to put together amazing vegan and vegetarian options!

This is a cute hidden spot near Christ Hospital in JC. Have family in the hospital and need a place within walking distance. It's a minute walk from the hospital.

Great place for breakfast and lunch. Owner is a beautiful soul, she makes the experience eating in her establishment. Will definitely be back for the breakfast and coffee ☕.

Finally a relaxing place with great coffee and amazing food! I love byob cozy spots and this place offers that plus amazing food. I love trying new spots, we tried the Beef filet w/ red wine reduction with a side of garlic bread. (Like omg anything garlic ummm yesss please!)
Salmon filet w/ sunchoke fennel cream( Sides spicy corn, herb potatoes and butter roasted carrots). We needed this in the JC, Heights area I will be coming back soon! 🥰

The olive platter is excellent! Linda is an excellent host. The musicians that play at Box are very high quality.

Sincerely the most delicious (Kobrick) coffee I’ve found in Hob/JC area! Super cute decor and i just love the French music! The owner Sean is so nice a his wife is lovely. I wish them a lot of success. I can’t wait to go back for dinner, I heard the food was amazing.

A down to earth, laid-back, and cozy setting meets carefully developed flavors and food textures. The ownership is caring, knowledgeable, and happy to serve.

We live in the neighborhood and read great reviews about Box Cafe before reaching out to plan a brunch for our kids' graduation with two other families. We received an immediate response by email with a fair price and an interest in making it feel special for our scholars. We were a group of 15 on a Tuesday morning and it was a perfect venue for a party that didn't need formal seating. The space was set up so that we could move around and/or eat at tables in small groups. We loved the food options and how the items were displayed for buffet service. And, we appreciated bringing our own beverages. This place is a gem in the Heights and the owners feel like old friends. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Love the cool vibes, the outstanding service and delicious food. Owners Linda the baker and Sean the chef should be proud of this new addition to the neighborhood on Palisade Ave, Jersey City Heights. You should visit soon. Try the salmon it's a treat.

Go here for dinner tonight! Don't let the unassuming exterior of Box Cafe fool you. We ordered the salmon and the chicken and both were incredible. Honestly, the best salmon I've ever had. I am excited to have this cafe within walking distance. They serve loose leaf tea (yay!) And their coffee is really good. Next time I'm coming for the chocolate cake!

I stopped in because it was the only coffee shop google showed was open besides Starbucks. I ended up grabbing a latte and dessert. They were both good, but what I stayed for was the general atmosphere. It's just such a quaint place! I like the comfy chairs and individual table lamps. I ended up sitting to listen to the live music and journal a bit. I'll probably stop back by for weekend brunch to try something new.

what if you walked into a restaurant and immediately felt at home, where the owners become instant friends the vibe is incredible and the food is even better

What a fabulous venue!! We hosted a baby shower here and it was a huge hit with our guests. Sean provided the sandwiches and wow!! Everyone loved them. The ambiance was just what we were looking for- casual, urban chic, so comfortable. Linda was a huge help during the whole event. The backyard space is fabulous and we were so lucky to have a day in November where we were able to use it! Inside, so many nice little places to sit with a plate of food for some conversation, so many interesting things to look at!! Very cool art, beautiful floral pieces. The day was perfect, thanks to the venue and THANKS to our wonderful hosts!! I look forward to going here for dinner sometime as the menu looks great and based on the sandwiches, it will be hard to choose what to order!! I just loved this place and so did our guests!!

Can't say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant. From the decor to the friendly service, everything was perfect. The location is comfortable and cozy. The food was amazing! There wasn't anything that we didn't like. The flavors are perfectly balanced and we enjoyed every single bite. Linda (one of the owners) is wonderful and makes you feel so welcome, like you're dining at a friend's place. And they have live music on Friday nights. My family and I will definitely be coming back!
