Heading home to Boston, we were looking for a yummy breakfast to add some happiness to our journey. We found it at Zakes Cafe.
Zakes is a converted home, and it was busy on a Saturday morning, but we were able to get a table for two. We were presented with a menu that offered lots of choices, as well as a page filled with specials. We selected an omelette (swiss cheese, tomato, caramelized onions) and the House Benedict (two poached eggs atop home cured salmon). Both choices were perfect - the omelette was fluffy, cheesy, and fully stuffed.
Zakes extensive menu includes vegetarian and vegan choices, and they will make gluten-free pancakes. This cafe also has a collection of delicious looking desserts, highly rated by others, but our breakfast was filling and we couldn't eat another bite.
Service was quick and efficient, and we were back on the road in no time. This is an easy, convenient stop for anyone traveling along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, just a couple of blocks from the Fort Washington Interchange (Exit 339). If you are passing by, hop off the Turnpike for some culinary happiness!

Food was so good! So many great options couldn’t choose between 2 so I got both. The Lump of Crab Fried rice was so flavorful and the Barbacoa Benedict was perfect. They did not skimp on the avocado. The potatoes were cooked a little too hard for my liking but I will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our breakfast here. The toast that came with our egg dishes tasted like it was just out of the oven, so fresh and homemade. The coffee was pretty good too. It's a cute and quirky vibe inside. We would definitely go back.

Annie made the most gorgeous wedding cake for us that we could’ve possibly imagined. After the wedding, people were raving about how delicious the cake was (even from people who aren’t big on sweets). The fresh fruit within the cake was just perfect! Thank you SO much.

Best Red velvet pancakes.
Brothers Zake and sister Marlene are outstanding chefs with impeccable eye for detail.
The service was quick. Portions are great for the affordable price point.
We will definitely have our next clubhouse breakfast with Zaki.

I loved my meal here, poached eggs with crab cakes. We had excellent and friendly service and the pastries are delicious too.
I’ll be going back to try other items on the menu.
As a heads up, during Covid, the place keeps breakfast and lunch hours from about 7:30a to 3:00p or 3:30p.

Zake’s has become our go-to breakfast spot for the weekends. My hubby and I love the consistency of service and delish food. Staff recognizes us and provides excellent service. Can’t forget they have the best home fries I’ve ever had. We are only disappointed to have found Zake’s after seven years of living down the road!

High recommend!!

So much charm and sincere love for food and art in this little cafe. Cute covered balcony room, main dining room, and a few bakery-side tables. We came around 1:30pm on a Monday and it was busy but not crowded. By 2pm it was very quiet and relaxing. Beautiful paintings on the walls. Fantastic, diverse, and asian-influenced classic American brunch menu available all day. Great specials too.

This place always has well crafted dishes packed with flavors and plated well. Portion sizes are appropriate and service is always prompt and friendly. They have an often rotating selection of specials dependent on the seasons.

Biggest downside, the space can feel a bit cramped at times when they are busy, but it's still a cute little cafe for any meal.

Wednesdays are their price fixe day which offer an appetizer, entree, and dessert sampling for $28. It's a great deal to try some of their more seasonal specials.

They also sell some of their awesome baked goods at the register as an additional temptation. Be careful to not gorge yourself on all the delicious options!

First timer - stopped by not knowing what to expect - ordered the eggs special (2 eggs with home-fries, pork links) ordered the eggs lightly scrambled with feta and to my surprise the kitchen over-delivered - the eggs were perfection and the feta was melted perfectly (not simply tossed on top as an afterthought as I’ve received many times) outstanding breakfast…great, strong coffee paired with excellent service and a lively, engaged and adult crowd. Wi-Fi was added bonus as I had my laptop with me.

WOW! Amazing carrot ginger soup, husband couldn’t stop eating the lamb special (said it matched memory of charcol brazier lamb in 1970s Greece). Clean, high quality food-Highly recommend.

Awesome vibe, humble and down to earth owner. The food was amazing. I had the avocado eggs Benedict and it was a fun twist on a classic. The eggs themselves were art and the flavors of the dish let you know each individual part was there, but blened well and didn't clash. Best eggs Benedict I've had yet!

Charming exterior. Food was very good. Friendly staff.
Place is a little tight with pretty small tables.
I loved the barbacoa benedict. Also Zake’s tea was perfect, not too sweet or watery.

Cute lunch spot with tasty baked goods made on site. I REALLY enjoyed the homemade French bread French toast with caramel sauce.

The only thing I would love to see is more coffee options, but I still plan to add this cafe to my rotation of great brunch spots in the area.

***Update*** Still a great brunch spot. Highly recommend if you're in the area

Zakes Cafe made the most delicious and beautiful carrot cake for our wedding. My husband and I love carrot cake and this was the best we’ve ever had. We’re looking forward to our one year anniversary so that we can eat the rest!
