Shorty's Lunch

A neighborhood legend, just the same 30 years later as it was in my childhood. So satisfying and simple. We went here on a trip back to Washington PA, and having the shorty dog with chili was a wonderful nostalgic highlight. Don’t miss it.

What a Great Old Fashioned Hot Dog Shop! My wife and I finally made it to this place and I wish we would have years ago! Shorty's has been in business since 1935, so you know they're doing something right! We both got a dog the everything way which is, mustard, chilli & onions (So Delicious I had to order another) and we also got a Large Fry with Gravy (Also Delicious and Best Seller). We just Loved the Whole Atmosphere of the Place! If you're in Washington, Pa Please Stop at Shorty's and get a Dog & Gravy Fries you'll thank me!!

A delicious grill fried hot dog! Why a 5 star…?Where else but here in Washington can you get an authentic grill fried dog. Plenty of home made sauce, diced onions and more. Don’t pass up the fries and gravy. Fast friendly service and booth seating or at the bar. Unusually clean and you can even order beer with the dog. A casual must stop place for a snack!

Atmosphere is like taking a time machine back 50 years which was unique. Excellent service. Greeted immediately on entry. The service was very friendly. Ordered 2 hotdogs and gravy fries. Food was ready in about 3 minutes. If you are an onion lover you might not love these because they are dry and very mild tasting. Chili was on the dryer side but worked good for the dogs. Hotdogs and buns were delicious. Gravy fries were good. Great place for quick bite with good service.

This is one place you must try when visiting Washington. Their hot dogs are fantastic. They sell shirts as well, but the shirts don’t taste very good.

Really good and cheap American food. Their hot dogs and fries with gravy are absolutely phenomenal. Staff is nice and quick. It is a must see place while on your trip to Washington PA, it has been in the city for ever. I highly recommend this place.

Great place to stop in. The hot dog sauce was excellent. So much so we brought some home with us! It's a small place so be prepared to have to do take out. The staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home.

Listen this is everything you think of when you think of what an old time hot dog and fries joint should be. It's dated inside and that's great. I bet this place has been there since the beginning of time. It's a straight forward basic menu of nothing but really good food fixed by people who have mastered their craft. So please if you are in the area make a trip by and get yourself a hot dog with sauce or whatever you like on it or anything else they have. It's all delicious and won't hurt your wallet. I also suggest getting some of their sauce to take home so the next time you cook up some hot dogs on the grill you can put some on and enjoy it at the house with family and friends. If I could give six stars out I would for this place. Love it. God bless.

We had a great experience at Shorty's. They seem like a staple of the Washington, PA downtown community. I love restaurants with a basic menu that they focus on doing really well. The staff was super fun and engaging, just like you would want a small diner to be. Highly recommend, even if you are just passing through like we were.

This Shorty's has been around for years and years!!! If you want an old fashioned hot dog diner feel, this is the place!!!!

You can't beat this location for food and atmosphere. (Dogs, burgers and fries with gravy) Lots of history and the price is more than reasonable.

Okay, let’s be honest. You don’t come here for the food. Yeah, the fries are crispy and the chili dogs are decent but you instead come here because of the people. Shortys is a institution and loved by all who eat here, work here or step through the doors here for whatever reason.

It’s a cheap and fast lunch and working class people in the Washington area have been coming here for generations. It’s places like this that make their hometowns unique.

As long as there’s a heart here, Shorty’s will always deserve no less than 5 stars.

Just as I remembered, delicious. Cash only. No refills on drinks. A little more expensive than when I lived here but still a great meal in Wash Paw

I've been eating her for 35yrs! Started at the Washington Mall. We come here twice a year every time we are in town. We absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and the staff is so friendly. It is a time capsule and truly just makes me feel so great. Go to Shorty's!
