Glacier Flakes

Words can not explain how great this place is. The food is beyond delicious, the staff is always so friendly and welcoming, the owners make you feel like family as they will engage in conversations about how your day is going. I've been coming to this place since they first opened back in the square of Manchester and have been following them as they moved to new locations.

My friend and I saw the bright blue sign from the road, and we had to stop. I’m so glad we did because oh my gosh, the food is AMAZING!

The inside is cute and clean. The owners are extremely friendly; the lady brought me a blue straw for my root beer float when she heard it was my favorite color. The fries were crispy and so fresh! All their food is made fresh, and it’s definitely noticeable. The ice cream is soft and delicious, and the portion sizes are worth the price.

My friend would like to add “That was a REAL burger. It was heavy, with fresh, local meat.”

We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in the area.

The cheese steak was excellent. The two of us shared a large cheese steak and a small fry and did not have room for dessert.

One of the best cheeses steaks we have had. Definitely worth your time to try this tucked away little place. It has been remodeled inside and it very comfortable and good ambience.

Wished I would have saved some room for ice cream, maybe next time.

Great place to visit and enjoyed the food as always. Every time we visit our family in PA from VA. My wife and I make it a priority to have a great meal from here. The owners are super friendly and passionate about their business. Wish they were in Virginia. Thank you and see y’all next time.

Glacier flakes is my go to spot when working in the office, the best food within a 10 miles radius and the service is second to none! Quickly became a local here, and wouldn’t have it any other way 😂

It is easy to overlook glacier flakes due to it's somewhat misnomer of a name, and modest outside appearance. I had lived right down the street from the place for more than a decade thinking it was some podunk italian ice spot that was probably not even open for business, and that was a shame, because Glacier Flakes is probably one of the best little restaurants in york, pa for cheesesteaks and cheeseburgers. I am a cheesesteak connoisseur, living in Philadelphia for 5 years, I am always on the hunt for the best cheesesteaks outside philly to scratch my itch, and GF hits to spot probably better than any other restaurant in york. I can say, pretty confidently, that it really is the best cheesesteak around. You would need to travel to philly to do better. and GF is still better than many cheesesteaks you will find in philly. Jackson House in Harrisburg probably has a slightly better cheesesteak outside of philly, but in York, Glacier Flakes is by far the best cheesesteak. Its strength is in the meat they used, amazingly delicious, high quality meat. I was shocked of it's high quality, I believe it may be locally sourced meat and it is way better than it seems to have any right to be. The weakness, which puts it 2nd to Jackson House, outside of philly, is the bread. There is nothing wrong with the bread, it is good, it does the job, but I think the meat they use would be better served by a more hearty roll. Having said that, you will not be disappointed by the cheesesteak, if you are looking for a good cheesesteak in the york, pa area, Glacier Flakes is where you need to go. Nowhere else in york even comes close. However, the cheesesteak on the menu comes with marinara sauce, this is a style I have never been into, so I always order my GF cheesesteak without the sauce, american cheese and grilled onions only for me, and it is incredible. I simply cant speak to how the cheesesteak is with the sauce, if that is your thing, but a true, original, philly cheesesteak is only american and onions anyway, so that is how I always order it and reccomend it from GF. Beyond the cheesesteak I have had the cheeseburgers and some tacos, and both are very good. Again, the meat is its strength, the burgers are such high quality, local meat, I can honestly say it is one of the best cheeseburgers around as well. The burgers are prepared in a very impressive manner, like you are eating at a high end burger joint serving a gourmet, classic, all american cheeseburger. so delicious, so juicy, so perfectly seared. the cheeseburger is my 2nd recommendation after the cheesesteak. the tacos are great too, not as good as el rodeo because I like the cheese el rodeo uses more, but for real I would go so far to say the tacos are the best in the area too, right behind el rodeo. If you think about it, this is pretty incredible, it's not even a Mexican restaurant, but it's serving up some of the best tacos you can find around here. Glacier Flakes is simply incredible, delicious, a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough, some of the best food you can find in york, and it's all at a little restaurant named for its frozen treats. You can not go wrong with Glacier Flakes, you are missing out on some high quality eats if you overlook the place. I am sure the frozen treats the spot is named for are great as well, considering the amazing quality of the food from the grill, but I have yet to personally try any of that. I'm simply too obsessed with the cheesesteaks and cheeseburgers. So delicious, i cant wait til lunch time today so I can go back and get more of the best food in york. Cya soon, Glacier Flakes, thank you for serving such shockingly high quality meats, I finally found my go to spot in york for burgers and cheesesteaks. I want the world to know how amazing this little place is. I'll be in again later today for another wonderful meal.

Not only are the employees kind and attentive, this place easily has the best turkey burgers around and killer chili chicken quesadillas too!!! Don't even get me started on the nuggets. Get on down there now and experience it for yourself, you won't be disappointed!

The staff was extremely friendly the lady who took our order had a particularly great attitude. The food was fantastic and really hit the spot after a long day of road tripping. The milkshakes were thick perfection. It's worth going out of your way to grab a bite here.

The burgers are delicious. Shakes are good too. Cheesesteak was a surprise banger. Onion rings also very good. And the burritos are a stealthy good option

This place has a little bit of everything and it's all delicious! Burritos, tacos, chili, cheesesteaks, milkshakes, fries, mozz stix, onion rings, breakfast sandwiches... they even have kimchi on the menu sometimes. They're great people too

This place is awesome! The food is crazy good. You can tell they have fresh ingredients. Great portions. My fiance and I discovered this place and subsequently brought each of our family members to try it out (before the shutdown). We had the burgers,a fries and burritos. They have great shakes too!

I love the food! Stopped in first time yesterday, bought cheese burger deluxe, tacos and fries to go. Even reheated, those burgers were so good! Tacos too! Can’t wait to come back.
