If you are looking for inexpensive groceries this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a wonderful staff, unique items, great organic coffee, yummy chicken salad, this is your place. The only complaint I have is that the parking lot is hard to navigate and you have to be careful.

While I find the grocery store a bit expensive, I think this store has interesting curated items that I can’t find anywhere. For instance, pink lemons and exotic fruit, anchovies in hot sauce (can’t find anywhere), fresh pasta of all varieties, large section of pre-made food and an on sight sushi making stand. Not to mention the largest shelf to make decorated cakes with sprinkles. The parking lot is a bit difficult to manage but overall a nice small store one can get to know quite easily.

Always fresh, always clean. It is definitely an experience to walk through the doors and meet a friendly and professional staff, that smell of fresh cookies and baked bread and all the organic products from foreign countries, also adding the history of service to the people of New Canaan is amazing.

Walter Stewarts has an excellent selection of foods, and courteous staff. Clean and pleasant. A delightful, local market to shop at which provides a better experience then other large chain supermarkets.

This is by far my new favorite grocery store! Been coming here a while now can’t go back to stop and shop!! Super fresh produce, meats and always something good in the hot section. Great family friendly place.

Nice local market with all high end products and meats. I love the diversity of choices and unique offerings. Produce department stocks all hard to find items fresh and in season.

This market is less than 1/4 the size of a regular supermarket yet has everything you could need. Quite a few gourmet selections so the prices are a but higher but you can get in and out in a flash if so desired. The staff is folksy and friendly so it's really a comfy feeling when in the store.

Delicious & healthy food. They have plenty of organic, gluten free, plant based, vegan, non-GMO, dairy free, USDA certified products.

Produce is the best around and lasts days longer than anywhere else! The staff are really nice and helpful. Good selection of products - basic and gourmet. Bread is the same price as grocery store chain nearby.

This family-owned market has been a staple in New Canaan for many decades and it is also the best market around. The produce section is a feast for the eyes and everything is perfectly fresh. They also do a great job with the meat, deli and baked goods departments. Be aware, however, that almost nothing is a bargain here; even so, the parking lot is nearly always full.

Love this place, great liquor store, too. Wonderful deli and a great selection of prepared meals as well as groceries. For a store so small, I'm consistently amazed at the selections they carry; great attention to detail on the part of the guys who run it, almost like they are curating the store. Plus, the service is friendly and fun and the store has wonderful community involvement. Whenever I am in the area I come by. Highly recommend it.

This place is the BEST! Not only do they have the best food at fair prices - the managers are INCREDIBLE!!
I left my credit card at the store next door and they called CJ the manager to see if he knew me- I happened to be in the store shopping and he personally returned my card!
ALSO I love BIG wheat thins and CJ ordered them for me and told me when they are delivered.

The mgr and produce dept. is by-far the most professional/knowledgeable in the area. When asked for help, they knew what I was looking for, but also carried the needed items. They had quince and purple asparagus, but also ordered kumquats for my 12 course French Thanksgiving feast. Yes, a bit pricey, but a real time saver if you are looking for quality specialty items.
I shall continue as a customer and drive from Wilton to shop here.Thank you!

Best store in town! Super accommodating staff members, high quality merchandise, the freshest produce, and the best deli! They are so supportive and generous to the town and are a real gem in New Canaan.

I live far away but was trying to send a fruit basket to a friend in New Canaan. Called a local store, Goldenberry Gourmet & Gift who did not offer fresh fruit but recommended me to Walter Stewart’s Market. Called The customer service person at WSM, namely CJ. He took the order, wrote a note, and personally delivered the basket to my friend at the time requested. What a service! Strongly recommend.

Very professional and accomodating staff. Selection of merchandise is excellent and their new deli presentation is second to none. Their seafood selection is weak but offset by their first class meats. Having fillet mignon from Stewart's is like dining in a 5-star restaurant. Produce is an adventure in freshness. Remember that old adage *you get what you pay for*? Welcome to Stewart's.

Walter Stewart's Market in New Canaan has the best selection of gourmet food and a wide variety of products. The prices are good and the service is excellent. They even have a wine shop and all the employees go out of their way to help you. I would recommend shopping there.

If you are looking for an exclusive item, this is where you will find it. Walter Stewart's has great premade meal and sandwich items, delicious sushi and a great array of fresh fruit and vegetables.
