Very friendly staff. We go to enjoy the Gingerbread House Festival. It's nice to see how imaginative people can be! There are also raffle items and some gingerbread houses are included. The money collected goes to the library.

I wish I knew about the Wood Memorial Library when my children were younger! It's a beautiful old building that offers programs year round. The new installment of their Nowashe Village is an outdoor museum of what indigenous life would have been like. It is a great experience for children to learn hands on in a fun environment.

There is the largest gingerbread festival in New England that usually runs from the weekend after Thanksgiving until the weekend before Christmas. I was there this afternoon and there were a lot of fascinating gingerbread houses on display. Sweet!

Merry Christmas! 🎄

That library actually hosts Gingerbread House Festival from a day after Thanksgiving to the last weekend before Christmas every year.

I believe this is the only library in all of New England to hold a festival of gingerbread houses. It's one of the largest Gingerbread House Festivals in New England.

In addition, they have an impressive permanent bird / natural animal collection as well!

I love this historic library for reasons I think make it a special place to visit. You don't have to be from South Windsor to step foot inside to browse valuable treasures.

That's one unique library for the community.

The Library itself is very pretty but not very well maintained. The most beautiful aspect of the library is the collection of taxidermy mounts of birds. The birds are preserved so beautifully and the collection is quite big. They also host activities throughout the year for adults and kids. You cannot issue any books from the library as most of the books present are reference and research books. In all I would definitely visit again just to admire the structure and the taxidermy birds.
