Oh my deliciousness!!! This 3-hour drive and 35-minute wait was absolutely worth it!! I'll be doing it again except on a week day. The drinks were strong and oh so good. The BEST mexican cuisine EVERRRRRR!!!! Every bit of food you place in your mouth is full of flavor. I haven't had delicious guacamole since I made my own. This tastes like my guacamole. I want more!! So, I'll be driving from NJ for quality food and amazing/attentive service.

Fantastic restaurant that you should definitely check out. The food and drinks are delicious, the atmosphere is cool, and the employees are great. If you're in the mood for a margarita, tacos, churros, etc. then this should be your destination. I've been told that there can be a line to get in, so plan to go early. You also won't be able to sit until your whole party arrives, so plan to hang out at the bar if you have stragglers.

Gem in South Glastonbury. This locally owned Mexican restaurant is always busy and for good reason! A wonderful play on traditional Mexican dishes, with many traditional dishes and others with some new, fun or modern twists. They don’t take reservations so get there early or prepare to wait! The wait is worth it. Although the location is not very big, it gives a nice intimate vibe. Service has always been great. Drinks from the bar are delicious, many bartenders are knowledgeable about what they serve. I happen to be a big fan of tequila and mezcals so this is usually what I gravitate towards. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for recommendations. This is one of our favorite spots that we frequent.

We stumbled upon this place because our friends were already there and it was delightful.

They said they waited a long time for their food and there was a line, which usually means it’s pretty good.

This place didn’t disappoint. We had margs and tacos! The chili shrimp taco and the Al pastor tacos were fantastic and packed with meat. My wife had the tuna and salmon tacos, she said the salmon one was amazing.

They even supplied blankets and heaters for outside.

10/10 would recommend and come back!

10/10! Definitely my favorite restaurant in CT and one of my favorites ever. This place is so freaking good. Loved the tacos, birria quesadilla, guac, queso, etc. It's all so good!!!! Do not miss the churros! They are super light and definitely the best churros I have ever had.

I came here last month with my boyfriend and hos family. We went on a Sunday afternoon. They weren’t even open yet and the line was out the door! Since there were 6 of us, we had to wait a little bit to be sat. It didn’t take too long since we got there when they opened.

They were pretty busy so it took awhile for our food to come out. We got chips, salsa and guac to start (fyi, they’re not free). I’m normally not a fan of guacamole but their’s was really good. The salsa wasn’t great though, it needed more spice.

My boyfriend and I ordered the birria quesadilla, his family ordered fish tacos, chicken fajita, shrimp taco and burritos. They also had some margaritas and they liked them. The food was really good. My birria quesadilla had a good cheese and meat ratio, I got the best of both worlds. Definitely worth the wait.

My boyfriend’s mom was telling me that one time she came here on a weeknight and the wait was over an hour. So if you want to go here I would definitely try and go here right when it opens to avoid the long wait. They don’t take reservations.

A review from a Texan and a Tejana: it's probably the best Mexican food you can get in Connecticut. We ordered the chicken and steak fajitas which came with a huge portion of vegetables and three flour tortillas. The chips and salsa combo with guac and queso was great.

Come prepared to wait for seating, and don't come with large parties unless you want to wait forever or split up into groups of 4/5.

I recommend showing up before the place opens to get in first. We arrived at 12:40 on Sunday and were seated immediately at 1 when they opened.

Every time I’ve gone, the wait time has been an hour or more. Very much worth the wait though. The tacos and quesadillas were some of the best I’ve had. I usually have the enmoladas. Service is great.

This place is a local favorite. Always very busy, often with a line out the door. They are very accommodating to that as they will call you when your table is ready. The food is authentic style and out of this world amazing. Atmosphere is really nice with a few rooms, a bar and nice outside sitting area.

Went at 5pm on a saturday hoping that there wouldn't be much of a wait, and was a little turned off that we were quoted a wait time of about an hour. We were seated after about 45 minutes and let me tell you, the wait was worth it. The food and drinks were delicious, the service was very attentive but not overly burdensome, and the atmosphere was lively. I would say that if you are hoping for a more quiet/intimate dinner experience, this is probably not the best place to go because the bar area is popular for people waiting to be seated and it can get a little loud. Otherwise, I highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Pretty sure I had the best burrito of my life here yesterday...! It was one of the specials recommended by the waitstaff(shrimp & queso). They should definitely make that a mainstay on the menu.
I sampled several other items, and each one as tasty and fresh as the next. Servers were polite & quick with the drinks.
You cannot make reservations and I hear it gets packed, so come early!

The best restaurant in CT. Yes, you have to wait but the food and service is worth it. Sit at the bar, it's the best seat in the house! The tacos are amazing and the jalapeno margs are fresh and taste unbelievable. Everything is fresh, how can you beat that?! Do yourself a favor and get the queso and if you love ribs, they are fantastic! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

this is one of my favorite restaurants in CT. It’s always so consistent and I have never had anything bad here. They have my favorite margaritas and their chips and queso is a MUST.
They don’t take reservations so expect to wait a long time for a table. (It doesn’t matter what day) but I promise you the wait is WORTH IT.

We've only been here three times since they opened because they're always packed and I can see why. The food was incredible - unexpectedly, twice, my favorite taco was the vegetarian one. Their drinks, apps, and desserts are also phenomenal. Our wait person was fantastic to boot - 10/10 will try to squeeze in to the packed house again!

Let’s be honest there’s no restaurant that touches Sayulita. I run a restaurant in the north end of Boston and every time I go home to see the parents in south Glastonbury I have to stop in to see Josh. Tonight we came in and waited at the bar before we were seated at our table. My mom had the blood orange margarita which was so delicious I almost drank half of it. When seated in the dining room we were greeted by Vicky our server who has been working there for more than 7 years and boy could you tell. She knew everything about the menu and even recommended some fan favorites like Bavette Steak with the Yukon potato’s and which we obviously had to order and was amazing. If you’re looking for a restaurant in the greater Hartford area with amazing drinks, food and staff you need to come here.

I arrived at noon because they open at 1:00. Small restaurant and by the time they opened, some would have to wait to get in. I had to ask for napkins which makes no sense since I ordered a finger food. I find this phenomenon common. Great atmosphere, great music,, great service and awesome manager/hostess. I got the special of the day, fried oyster taco with all the right ingredients and way over stuffed. Over stuffed is good, however, the soft shell is hard not to over stuff, still, lots of filling. I also got the fried shrimp and fried Brussel Sprouts taco, so fresh and tasty. I then ordered a chorizo tamale but got the shredded chicken 🐔 tamale, I ate half of it and they brought me the chorizo. The tamale was good but I don't recommend the chorizo tamale, too much cornbread, not
enough chorizo, although, thats the nature of a tamale. I'm definitely going back, everything i ordered today was top shelf and there's too much I want to try on their relatively small menu. They should have a chorizo taco, they have the chorizo tamale so they've got the ingredients. Just saying.

We dined here at perhaps the busiest night all year. I have to shout out the Hostesses and Waitress for making the best of the situation.
The staff here go above and beyond their jobs. The food is outta this world.
Look, popular places are tough to get into because they're the best of the best. Sayulita was no different. It was packed during the holidays; Rightfully so. Food, Service, and Ambience is 5 star 🌟.
I would happily go back and wait a long time for what we got in the end.
5 star establishment across the board.... it started with the hostess; they deserve raises for going above and beyond

Went here recently for a friend’s birthday and all around a truly phenomenal dining experience. Abbey, at the bar, was fast, fun and friendly and our server, Nate, was one of the best we have ever had. The food was great, the service was even better; can’t say enough good things about this place.

Recently had the pleasure of going here. Their food was by far the best Mexican I have ever eaten. It's no wonder why there is always a wait. Their tacos are phenomenal. Must try!
