Great spot for incredible, fresh, homemade dumplings and authentic Chinese food. Food doesn't all come out at the same time because it is literally being made fresh in the kitchen by grandma. Loved the dumplings and the cold sesame noodles, amazing flavor. The atmosphere still looks like a "take-out" area in the dining room, which is not so bad, but I feel like the quality of the food would pair well with a little fancier, nicely lit dining area. Overall, the food is worth dining in for and the service was above and beyond.

The best Chinese (Szechuan) restaurant I’ve found in Connecticut and is up there with places I’ve been all over the US and Europe. They have a very authentic menu as well as Americanized favorites. The staff is always very friendly. You can tell they use fresh ingredients as everything I’ve had there has been amazing. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t let that fool you. Come in, order, and eat and enjoy. You won’t be let down.

Update from 17 May 2023

I can’t stress enough how amazing this place is. We’ve become regulars and have tried a wide array of their dishes and they’re all equally exceptional. The owner is one of the nicest people you could meet as well and you can tell she takes pride in what she does and truly enjoys it. I would rate this restaurant 6 out of 5 stars if I could. It really is at the top of my list for restaurants in CT. It’s as unassuming and unpretentious as it can be and delivers 100% time and time again. This place is a gem.

We visited Dumpling House with high expectations and were not disappointed. The restaurant serves authentic Chinese food that is plated very appetizingly. The extensive menu offers a wide range of Chinese dishes, each prepared with distinct care, avoiding a cookie-cutter approach. The self-made buns were clearly crafted with a tasteful touch, as were the self-made dumplings, delicate and flavorful. The Tangerine Beef was a standout, vibrant and delicious, as was their Sichuan Ma-Po Tofu. The latter had an authentic Sichuan spiciness that is hard to come by. Their Walnut Shrimp was both visually appealing and incredibly tasty. Despite the restaurant's unassuming exterior and fairly plain interior, it’s the outstanding food that truly makes this place shine. It’s a reminder that appearances can be deceiving—inside those modest walls is a world of extraordinary flavors. Overall, just very good food; we were thoroughly satisfied with our experience.

We will definitely visit again when we are in the area. We only tried a few dishes and they were all tasty: basic steamed dumplings, steamed dumplings in chili sauce, two large chive and egg dumplings, and cucumbers in chili sauce. I forgot to ask for my dumplings fried, but they were still delicious. The dough is a little thicker than I usually prefer, but surprisingly it didn't bother me at all. The dumplings in chili sauce were a favorite, the sauce was so delicious we used it on the plain dumplings insteadof the dipping sauce. Placed our order around 5pm on a Thursday evening and it was ready is less than 15 minutes. Note that goggle directions sent us to the back of the building for some reason, if the same happens to you just loop around the block. Prices are basically on par with general Chinese take-out places.

It is a cute restaurant with a really nice menu full of different traditional Chinese dishes. It's definitely a spot to have to visit a few times, so you can try a couple of different items. Even more ideal to come with family or friends for a nice dinner. I ordered the sweet and sour fish, and I absolutely loved it. The meat was very tender, and the sauce was paired well.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Connecticut and the only reason I know about it is because a friend introduced me to it. It's an authentic, hole-in-the-wall Szechuan restaurant and I've literally never had a bad meal here. My favorites are the the dumplings (duh), the spicy crispy chicken and the dan dan noodles, but honestly I need to venture out and explore more of the menu because every single dish I've had here has been exceptionally delicious. The owners are also so kind and helpful, and it's BYOB if you want to bring a bottle of wine!

Fresh, authentic food. Their scallion pancakes and soup dumplings make me feel like I’m being wrapped in a hug. To top it off, their pricing is VERY reasonable.

My twin and I just graduated from New Haven, but I wish we found this place sooner. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is comfy. Highly recommend the soup pork dumplings. By far the best Chinese food we have ever had.

It’s not just dumplings! Authentic Chinese food from different regions. Nancy is server and husband cooks. My wife is Cantonese and very picky. She loves it. Some American Chinese stuff too if you want it.

Most of clientele appears to come down from Yale, maybe a side trip from nearby Costco.

G mart , an Asian grocery store, is very close as well. Appears on some apps as Shop Rite, its previous incarnation.

The service was excellent and they were very welcoming. The food was so fresh and flavorful. Even my young picky eater tried some things because he saw how much we were enjoying them and now he discovered he likes dumplings too. The kids were asking when we could come back before we were even done eating.

Wow, what an unexpected find driving through CT from NY to MA! Delicious, authentic SW Chinese food. In fact, the only Guiyang Province restaurant I’ve encountered in the US outside of Flushing, Queens. Family run, very friendly, and excellent English. The cumin lamb was spicy and delicious, as were the sautéed string beans. Can’t wait to hit it on the way back!

Veggie dumplings served w/ a light, slightly sweet soy sauce; absolutely perfect. Singapore Mai-fun. Thin rice noodles, served "dry" wirh a curry flavor. Singapore = chicken, pork, shrimp, egg and veggie. Nice little spice, but not even hot, just good. Shrimp just ok quality, but preparation was very, very good. Super clean bathroom. Nice guy at the counter.

The food is amazing! The soup dumplings and tangerine chicken are my favorites so far, but we've only been here twice. Keep in mind the food is probably the most authentic Chinese cuisine you'll find in CT, so don't expect overly sweet sauces. The sauces are well balanced, not corn syrup based like most Chinese restaurants serve. The restaurant itself is very small and humble with just 7 or 8 tables. It's nothing fancy, but the food more than makes up for it.

Come here!! Really impressed with takeout here! Online ordering was easy and placing a separate order upon arrival for another item was a breezeIt can be tough to find really good dumplings in CT in my experience but it won't be hard to find from now on! Look no further! Piping hot soup dumplings were heavenly, everything very enjoyable! I love cold sesame noodles when taking out and the recipe here is very unique! No peanut butter texture paste just BAM garlic and sesame. Thank you for making us dinner!! Red bean rolls are great!

Great Chinese pork soup and sweet red bean dumplings. Also tried (and very good) the Dan Dan noodles, chef special beef and garlic, and the mushroom tree salad.

Easily the best Chinese food I’ve had. The dumplings have so much flavor. There are so many different ones to try. Their chicken and broccoli is terrific as well as the tangerine chicken. Can’t wait to go back again.
