Ludal's Italian Restaurant

Ludals is doing everything right. They have a great hostess and waitstaff. They are all friendly and attentive. They serve delicious bread and give a nice salad before your meal. They have a plethora of specials every night. Not only is their food delicious and unique but they give very large portions as well. Great drinks and atmosphere...awesome place.

First time visitors after a recommendation we went to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. Our server, Sal, was very friendly, informative and knowledgeable. He recommended meals for us and knew exactly what we were looking for. My wife was between two dishes and Sal suggested that he surprise her... She loved his choice. We started with appetizers, clams casino and stuffed shrimp...both wonderful. For dinner my wife had the Chicken Siciliano and I had the Yellow Fin Tuna special, we couldn't have enjoyed our meal more.

The atmosphere was perfect. Behind the bar was a really large display that was showing underwater scenes which created a nice visual experience... Later in the evening the display changed to the NBA playoff game.

This is a great place for dinner and we anticipate coming back in the future. We also are planning to have our son's graduation dinner here in a few years.

Great place . First time I’ve been to this establishment . Great ambiance as you walk in . Beautiful dining room and the bar area is amazing . Jose our server and his co workers were very courteous and professional . Food was amazing had the Pasta Fagiole and the goat cheese croquettes . That combo filled me up comfortable .. highly recommend .

My 1st time here with some of my friends/coworkers, about 12 of us. Everything was great. Our waiter Sal, very attentive, made sure we had everything, and cute too if anyone is looking😉. I started with a crab cake, then had the short rib with risotto. Everything was delicious. The sauce on the crab cake and the risotto are rich and soooo good. At around 9pm the music changesd and was turned up which was great. Loved it.

This place is my favorite… my go to for everything. When my family has a big celebration they have multiple areas to seat us so we have and never feel rushed. Date nights we are given appropriate attention. I’ve even catered with them and everyone left my home full and happy, didn’t have many left overs. They’re very accommodating with making changes to any dish as long as they have the ingredients! All around great place for any occasion

We went back here last night and everything was on point! Maybe because they weren’t crazy busy like usual and we got there for 5:45pm. We were able to be seated right away. Our waiter and service was awesome! My water glass never sat empty. The scallops wrapped in bacon were the best I ever had!!! It came with a little risotto. The combination was delicious!! I could have eaten 3 orders! I had the shrimp and scallop with lobster infused pasta.
My fiancé ordered the short ribs. Both dishes were spectacular! For dessert we had the Oreo cheese cake. A must try! We really had a wonderful meal!

This place was great a few years back, as per my previous review but in this past year, it’s changed. We keep giving another try and every time we agree this is it for awhile but we go back and it’s still disappointing. The service is slow and the food isn’t as amazing as it use to be. Except for the garlic oil they serve with bread. That’s still AMAZING

AMAZING food. First time here celebrating a birthday and we cannot say enough good things.

For appetizers we had the octopus, calamari and bacon wrapped scallops.

Dinners was grilled scallop and shimp with a vodka sauce and zuppe pesce.

We had great service along with a great atmosphere. We cannot wait to go back

Lovely and well kept place with good food and drinks. One of the best places in town for sure.

First time diner here, we went for a double birthday dinner on a Thursday night.

Atmosphere was fantastic, great seating arrangements with clean/modern appointments throughout the rooms. Everything looked/felt very clean.

Service was on point from our waiter Sal. He was very personable and definitely helped made the night memorable.

Food wise is where Ludals really shined. I had some of the calmari and octopus appetizers. Portion size was spot on for the type of venue and they tasted incredible, especially the octopus (I'd go back just for that!). For an entree I had their yellowfin tuna special with a side of black rice and veggies and covered in a spicy aioli. The fish was seared perfectly and the aroma/flavors were tremendous. We finished off with an assortment of cakes, all which were good. Drink wise I had a Manhattan and old fashioned, both were made with a heavy hand for the bourbon pour so no complaints!

Overall we had a fantastic time and I'll definitely make a return when I can.

We had a surprise 95th birthday for my grandmother and everything was fantastic! We had a private room with a limited menu for about 40 people. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The drinks were refreshed and the servers did a fantastic job. Very accommodating for celiac! Highly recommend!

I went with family Jan 20 and the service and food was awesome. We were not rushed. Enjoyed the time went back with a large group of 17 and had a great time again served great food and service. Not rushed ..
DEFINITELY GOING BACK!!! Our new spot!!!

If I could give them six stars I would.. The bartenders are extremely generous and talented.. one of the best old fashions I've ever had. The atmosphere is elegant, it is warm and inviting. They provide sports entertainment in a classy way. The food is indescribable. I have tried everything on the appetizer menu and I must say I don't think I will ever get tired of it. As far as entrees, salad and soup options; I cannot recommend just one dish. Impossible. What I do recommend is you setting aside a budget to go to this place at least once a month to get through as much of the menu as you can. Whether it is for lunch or dinner, absolutely phenomenal!!! Did I mention their catering is exceptionally wonderful as well? One of Connecticut's hidden gems.

I had oysters, scallops, seafood chowder and lobster raviolis…. I didn’t want to leave! The waitstaff are absolutely top notch, the restaurant is spotless, the food was INCREDIBLE and I will make this my first stop if I make it back to New Haven.

One of the best restaurants in the area. The food is amazing. Love the ambiance. Great martini menu. Fabulous pasta, steak, and seafood. My family from out of state always look forward to dining here when they visit.

Rich was an excellent server. We had a large gathering at Ludal's without any negative incidents. The food was great, timing was spot on, and every guest expertly catered to.

The atmosphere & food here are fantastic! The bar has a beautiful tv screen with changing landscapes on it. Place was clean & had a great ambiance. The food was delicious! Goat cheese croquet on a bed of arugula was fantastic. The filet mignon special was fantastic! Perfectly cooked & well balanced!

Went there for Thanksgiving because our kitchen is being remodeled. It was the most delicious meal. Felt very comfortable there because our son is Special Needs and it was so calm and chill in there. We had a wonderful thanksgiving meal.

My wife and I went there for Thanksgiving. The service was excellent and so was the food. They had offered a traditional Thanksgiving dinner that my wife had and she loved it. I decided to go to the other end of the spectrum and had the rack of lamb instead and it was excellent also.

Ludal's is just amazing. I highly recommend the Calamari Steak special appetizer if they have it. I also had the Lamb Ossobuco special entre, and that was delicious as well. The booths are very comfortable, and the atmosphere is appropriate for a date, business meeting, or any occasion really.

Had a tasty dinner tonight at Ludal’s as always it did not disappoint. I had the seafood risotto (recommended by Angie) and my hubby the angus steak dinner. Special thank you to our waitress Angie, she was friendly, knowledgeable of her menu, prompt and professional. The restaurant itself was clean, plenty of space and an inviting atmosphere.
