The Brenton Arboretum

Plenty of things to see and hear. A nesting ground for Northern Bobwhite and many other birds. They also include a checklist pamphlet of Iowa birds at the kiosk at the main gate which has been put to great use.
Birds spotted during July include: northern bobwhite, eastern meadowlark, red-winged blackbird, gray catbird, and American goldfinch

High quality location with great trails. Has a nice loop and you see plenty of people with dogs or young families that are enjoying the whole space. I'm not a tree expert but if you had any interest in them, this clearly would be a top place to go, or even for students just learning about the various types.

We are so lucky to be able to come here so often. The trails are so well maintained and we love all of the bridges. We always see sl many beautiful birds.

Brenton is one of our favorite places. It is a hidden gem. It is so peaceful and beautiful. We have a membership so we can bring our dog for hikes. We also love the nature club program for our 7 & 8 year olds.

We had a great time at the Brenton Arboretum even though we visited in the winter (Mid-February). There are quite a few walking paths as well as a natural playground and picnic shelter.

It is free to visit and is very well maintained.

We are looking forward to visiting during each season to see the changes.

GORGEOUS place that just so happens to double as an absolutely beautiful wedding venue! A wedding photographers dream come true- bridges, willows, and beautiful meadows with wildflowers! If you're looking for an adventurous-type venue without leaving Iowa- The Brenton Arboretum is the place to go. I cannot wait to book another wedding here!

Beautiful trees, nice walking trails that are mowed. A great place to go to in all 4 seasons. You can bring your doggo here, the property is on leash so keep that in mind. During cool weather it is not an issue however we have seen snakes (gardner🐍) and ticks here in summer. Also as an FYI they have an amazing venue you can rent out for weddings and parties. Definitely worth checking out on the website. 💍 🥳

The main attraction for my family is the natural play area. The trails are nice and peaceful. Not much shade yet, so be prepared for that. And bring bug spray during buggy times! New in 2019 - the trail around the pond is now paved. The labyrinth is fun to do. Follow the road past the natural play area and pavilion, past the big willow tree and pull off to the right at the next parking area you come to. Then head back towards to the left (crossing the road) to the labyrinth. You can't see it from the road. It's not a hedge maze type structure. It's made of stones set into the ground.

Lovely outdoor experience for nature walk take your time and really enjoy your time

My family and I went to Brenton Arboretum to drive around and be in nature. I didn’t realize they had so many grass trail options to choose from, even one mowed with the intention to bring people there to meditate outside while walking. I am so excited to come back with better shoes and no children.

We love the trails for wandering and the playplace is great for All Ages! Pretty accessable for all walking abilities, but the gravel and sand aren't good for wheels

This small, hidden preserve is one of the finest we've been to! They have a wide variety of forests, riparian areas and grasslands. The wildlife is equally diverse, with numerous species of mammals, birds and insects. We'll be back!

We are traveling just passing through we have a 9 year old dog. Absolutely adorable park, well kept, friendly people.

Beautiful place for a leisurely stroll. Lots of short trails to pick from and plenty of trees to look at. Bring your dog for a walk for more fun!

Natural, quiet, dirt roads ok for driving not likely a good place for wheelchairs or strollers.

You can find some rare plants in this garden. A great visit!
