Spent more than 8hrs in the chairs...got a neck workout from holding 50lbs of foil on my head....but the results are absolutely AMAZING!! I got so many compliments and most importantly, i love my new do! Shout out to JJ for taking on the challenge and absolutely nailing it! THANK YOU!! <3 <3

I went to see JJ, and I think for the first time ever, had someone who actually spent time in the beginning to figure out how to match what I wanted with my actual head shape and hair line to make for a hair style that fit me. It turned out exactly as I wanted and am really happy with it. Will be coming back to see her for sure!

Great salon especially for those with asian hair. I went for the first time in February 2023 to Eun Kyung to get my roots and highlights updated. She was thorough and did a really really great job. I went back a month later to get a formal updo though the stylists is no longer there. I was really happy with the outcome both times and I’ve been back to see Eun to chop off my long hair for summer

I booked an appointment with Denis and received excellent service. He worked with me to understand which hairstyles would work well with my current hair and how he could style the cut. The salon is very clean and professional. I would highly recommend!

Lovely salon! I came in to get my hair dyed purple. Juan Ma did a wonderful job bleaching my hair, but at first the purple faded within a week (although fun fact: people treated me better as a blonde!). While the blonde was well done, I wanted to go purple. They re-dyed my hair free of charge, but with a more permanent color. A month later, and my hair is still purple. I’m delighted! Highly recommend this place!

Awesome salon! Juan usually does my hair. She is very kind and professional. She keeps running her salon in a very safe way during this special time. Very reliable! I was trying to make a hair dying appointment with Juan the other day. She was not available and she recommended Denis to me. I was nervous at the beginning but when it came out I was definitely amazed! It took us longer than we expected. But Denis had so much patience to achieve the best result! Juan was also staying with us until very late that night. I felt like a VVIP. Now I just can’t stop looking my hair in the mirror. Thank you, Juan and Denis! Definitely recommend!!

Josie did my hair. It’s beautiful, just what I wanted! Long layers and a lovely big blowout with curls. Will definitely come back again :-)

Jane is an artist. Every time I want a new look but have no idea how it should be, Jane always knows and makes my hair look wonderful after cutting and proper treatment. Most importantly, the hair cut is easy to style by myself at home and looks still great after growing a bit longer.

If you are after the hair styles trending in east asian countries like Japan and South Korea, I would recommend coming here!! They can speak Japanese, Korean (I think), Chinese and English fluently. I had Juan Ma cut and style my hair today, and I just let her do whatever she thought would suit my face, and I got a hair cut like one I have never had before. She really thought about what would suit me and thought about what was currently trending in hair. Not to mention they use Japanese hair products which are awesome. If you feel like you have a really boring, cookie-cutter hairstyle right now, I would recommend coming here and having Juan Ma do your hair!

I really like this new hair color! It was done by Juan two weeks ago and then I decided to come back here today to get a hair cut. I am amazed by how natural the color is and whatever product she used doesn't smell and damage your hair like a lot of other hair bleaching products! So happy :)

I never had hair treatments done and after researching online about hair treatments, I came across HDZ and contacted them via email to see if offered scalp and hair treatments together on the same day. The replies were quick and efficient. I'm glad they were available. I was able to be seen 3 days after the initial contact. Other salons I've been to, I had to wait about a month.

I had an appointment with Josie yesterday for a scalp and repair pro treatment. I had permed and color-treated hair 5-6 years ago but it took me 2-3 years to grow out my natural hair color. My hair is straight, thick, and medium-long (chest length). I have psoriasis, dandruff, redness, itchiness, and dryness. When I showed up to my appointment about 10 minutes early, the salon looked busy but I didn't have to wait long, plus there was a lot of space.

Josie did an amazing job. The massages during the scalp and hair treatment felt amazing. I thought I could just fall asleep. I couldn't tell but I believe the treatment had foams, sprays and oils which made the experience relaxing. Also, I'm not very talkative so I was too shy to ask but I'm glad that I had someone who doesn't mind the silence. I was amazed how she was able to balance another client too. Overall, my scalp looks less red and not flaky, my hair feels so soft and smooth. My hair looks and feels amazing. I'm very happy with my hair!

Great experience! Scheduling was quick and easy. Stopped for a consultation and scheduling the actual appointment. Denis spent 4 hours applying the Japanese Hair straightening treatment to my hair, frequently asking if I needed anything (drink or snack etc) , and if the water and hair blower temperature were okay. He verified the price and treatment before starting, kept me informed of what he was doing and how long it would take, and engaged me in conversation during the process. Other employees were very kind and considerate ensuring I had sufficient entertainment, and no one pushed any products on me afterward.

I came here twice, one for a haircut with Reika and another with a head spa from Josie. Both experiences were fantastic, with friendly staff. Regarding the head spa, I’m so grateful for this service as they seem to be the only salon in the area offering it. My only critique is that the salon could be cleaner. Not that they don’t clean hair up, but could do a more thorough job to make sure the environment is as clean as possible!

Review for Josie for cutting my niece's hair today. My niece has waist length hair. Never permed or color treated. But typical Asian hair, it's straight and thin.

We had an appointment with Josie and it happened to be when the salon opened on Sunday. So there was no wait. The salon does require masks. Very well lit on a rainy day. Lots of space in the salon.

Josie did a great job cutting my niece's hair. At first it was going to be a trim but noticed there were split ends that needed to go. Josie cut about 5 inches off. Hair is still long though. Hair washed after the cut and touched up after blow drying. My niece is happy which makes me happy.

We'll go back cause my niece wants to get her hair colored before going off to college

Got a haircut from Mrs. Eun Kyung:
1. She's a very creative person and was able to see the vision I had for my hair when we talked about it before the haircut.
2. Her scissor work was truly immaculate and well worth the price for me.
3. She's open to chatting and has quite the memorable personality lol.

I was referred to this Salon. My stylist was Reika (pronounced Lake-uh) and frankly she was incredible. She was gentle, communicative, focused, super detail oriented, talkative when I wanted to be and it was the best experience I think I’ve ever had. Her head massage and hair wash were the absolute best. I can’t give her enough praise. I will 100% be coming back to her as well as getting my husbands hair done by her as well. Not to mention my hair feels AMAZING. I’m such a happy customer.

I had my hair done (bleached and toned) by Denis and turned out great! Appreciate the immense amount of time spent on my hair, as we started with Asian black hair 😬. Will be back again!

I got my haircut at Hair Design Zone last week and I love it! I have gotten so many compliments about my hair! Jane Ma, Top Hair Stylist and I believe owner was so attentive to my hair, she really took her time and was very patient with my hair especially since it is very fine. I brought a few pictures of hairstyles that I wanted and she did not cut what I wanted, she actually made it better! I will definitely go back to her again because she takes the image you give her and she makes it compatible with your face. I would absolutely recommend her!

No regrets! Drove an hour from Virginia for a digital perm. I wanted to visit a salon with experienced stylists who understand asian hair types. I have very coarse wavy unruly hair. Juan and her team of stylists spent four hours taming the frizz up top and curling the ends. What i appreciated most about my experience was that they didn't overbook their day. The stylists weren't simultaneously working on multiple clients at once - I had Juan's full attention. Her assistant even fed my meter when I couldn't get out of chair. I now know that they offer 2 hour parking validation at the garage. I now have gorgeous waves which look even better dry. Thank you Juan and team!

Update: 2 years later and I now drive over an hour to go here since moving. The only salon I will ever trust with a perm!

This place is fabulous and their stylist really cares. I got my hair permed here a year ago and have got it redone once since then with a few haircuts in between. All of my experiences there has been amazing! I went here based off a Yelp search and have not gone anywhere since! Everyone I've met within the last year is completely surprised when I tell them my hair isnt naturally curly and a couple of my friends even thought that my hair has always been curly and I had just in straightening it because the curls look so natural on me! She did an amazing job with the perm, the cut and styling it! I like that they clearly go out of their way to find the best products for different hair instead of just picking one brand that they die hard standby regardless of the actual product.
