It's one of our favorite parks! The possibilities are endless. There are trails all over the place, a fun playground, and some water fun in the summertime. There's also a little creek for the kids to play in. And picnic shelters. Their bathrooms are very clean and well maintained, which is very important when you have little kids!

This place is AWESOME! Such a hidden gem. About a mile off the interstate and insanely beautiful. I love how everything is built to look “natural”. Our kids will play here for hours, and even I have a great time.

Went for a nice nature walk around the Quarry Loop walking and biking trail. You can tell it used to be farmland fairly recently. The 2 large silos is only part of it. We saw what appeared to be an old steel tank of some sort. Some old pig panel fencing laying on the ground. A household hot water tank laying dangerously close to the trail.
We also saw multiple types of birds, a small lizard, and some grazing deer. Oh, and a squirrel. We also came across 3 different people biking the trail. The largest part of the trail is under the canopy of trees. Parts of the trail are fairly rugged. The trail goes behind a rock quarry... Lots of natural bed rock on parts of the trail. Most of the trail is just dirt. So you get the full wilderness experience. Some of the trail runs along side Martin Creek. But the parts that currently have water in them are inaccessible due to trees and vegetation. It took about 3 hrs at a very relaxed pace. I will do it again. I still want to get to the I-35 underpass part. Ran out of time on this trip.

I have been here quite a few times since discovering it! Our family has hiked a number of the single track trails. My 70 year old parents could easily handle one of the nice wooded ones. We keep on returning. So worth it. They are protective to maintain the trails so if it’s rained a lot the wooded hiking/biking trails are closed. But there is still quite a bit paved, just not under the tree canopy.

Everyone loved this park. So much to do for the kids. There are rope web stations for the kids to climb across, two different water play areas that the kids loved, a very small slide for tiny tots and two larger ones, a huge web swing that can accommodate two children, xylophones, a long walking / bicycling path and lots of other activity / play areas. It's a spacious, beautiful park!

My kids love this park. There are great walking trails, all the playground equipment is shaded, the splash pad is great for summer days, the sand pit is shaded, and the creek walk is cool. The only down side is the drop off where the creek is can be scary if toddlers are running around.

A beautiful park with a GREAT nature play area. I love that there are tons of wildflowers and native grasses all throughout. There's also a nice pollinator garden, but there are so many other gorgeous native plants outside the designated "garden" too.
The covered patios can be rented and have grills as well as plenty of counter space for holding food, gifts, displays, etc.
Overall a nice park if you love nearby!

This is an awesome park! So many nice trails, shelters, restrooms, and playgrounds for kids. The trail system extends clear south of I-35 and includes a camping area. Also, there is former pasture land that is open for hiking. There is an accessible paved trail near the entrance and hiking/mountain biking trails beyond that.

Big Bull Creek Park is a great place for a family outing. There's play areas, nature trails, shelter seating and interactive educational displays. Big Bull Creek Park is great for exercise, birthday parties, and really anything else you can think of.

Although not very close for many in the KC metro area, I do really like the MTB trails at Big Bull and find myself continually taking the extra drive time to ride Big Bull Creek trails.

This park is stunning. We did a quick Google Maps search for "parks" and saw that this one wasn't too far away. I'm very glad we decided to visit though. The park is stunning. There are walking paths, play areas (some that include water!) and event shelters that can be rented. This is probably one of the nicest parks I've visited which is saying a lot for Johnson County. In fact I'm a little surprised this one wasn't built closer to Overland Park...but I'm glad it wasn't. It's definitely worth a visit.
