I would not hesitate to bring any of my family members to SMDH to receive care. True, patient centered quality health care. Family taking care of family.

So I had to go-to the ER cause I broke a tooth....I'm not from here or even the state and was in Licking on a business trip....the lady at the registration office was awesome!! But I guess what I liked was that an EMT was helping the RN(Stacy) with vitals and asking questions....where I'm from you don't see that cause the EMT's pretty much stay with the EMT's...I find this interesting and satisfying cause I believe they can learn more on how to better take care of emergencies when they get called out...everyone can react different in any situation and I think this is a BRILLIANT way for them to see how ppl respond! I received EXCELLENT and PROMPT service but the bed-side manner is where I find to be of importance and this hospital provided EXCELLENT service in that department as well!! Thanks so much😁

Dr Ford did a great job sewing up my son's knee. Got us in and out quickly. Hardly noticed the interruption to our family vacation.

I've had good service every time I went there was seen too properly, the cost was acceptable not outrageous
they were up front with the cost and I find that refreshing in a hospital and they got the job done.

Emergency room packed, screaming people, police ambulance and others, was Bedlam, very loud, but some "guests" can be very objectionable and this was one of those nights, staff had their hands full and we still got cared for in a reasonable amount of time, and dispatched to a larger hospital.

It's a tiny little Hospital that really can't do lunch besides x-rays or MRI if something serious is going on and you need any type of specialist you love to be shipped out

Absolutely TERRIBLE place and people skills. My child was in pain we waited almost 4 HOURS for them to READ x rays. Then the Dr. comes in and questions what the radiologist says. Which I'm sure yhe radiologist knows better than a Dr about x rays. So still no real conclusion on what's wrong or broken. Have to go to someone else now. We were in a teeeeeny tiny room and no nurse ever came in to see if my child needed anything. No pain meds offered, no how are you doing, can I get you anything. NOTHING. I will never ever bring my kids, myself, or family here again.

My daughter in law went to the er extremely sick had a fever record of almost 105. He wouldn't even look at that. She was so dehydrated that they couldn't get an IV needle into her vein.
Dr. Featherly apparently didn't want to deal with doctoring so he sent her home with some nausea meds. She should be in a hospital right now but my vehicle is down and I am helpless to do anything but do my best for here at home.
Six months ago I called am ambulance and the dispatch hung up on us 4 times and it took an hour for an ambulance to get to us and my son died just as they arrived. Let's face it we live in a black hole of no qualified medical.
The nurses at Salem were stellar though. My star is for them, because you can't give zero to the er. Thank you nurses for caring.

I had one of my worst ER visits ever. I got right in, not a problem there, They treated my cut finger by soaking it in disinfectant for an hour and fifteen minutes in a very uncomfortable position with my arm raised above my shoulder then down into a pan of disinfectant. After the first half hour the doctor came in and said he wanted me to soak it for 20 minutes, I told him that's done, he said no 20 minutes more. I then waited over 40 minutes more in that position. The muscle fatigue keeping my arm and hand in that position was brutal. it's been two days and my shoulder, arm, and back muscles are still sore. That soak should have been 5-10 minutes. I spent 2 hours in an empty ER for a fairly minor cut that needed stitches and I received very poor care and borderline abusive care. The one stare is for the fine folks that processed my information and the nurse that started my treatment. The doctor was 0.

I had to come in 4 times in order to finally be prescribed any antibiotics for a major infection I've been dealing with for multiple months. Things have done nothing but got worse meanwhile im calling in and not knowing what to do as things continue to get worse, no one has done anything to help or point me in any direction to get further/better care.

Will NEVER go back here again even if I am on my death bed. The doctor was extremely rude and once he realized one thing they had thought was wrong with me wasn't he completely avoided all my other symptoms and anything else wrong with me. He sent me home. And during my 2 hour wait to be discharged he began to talk badly about me with the nurses. Do not go here.

As a Healthcare professional, I feel the need to post this review in hopes for change and that no other family endures what our family did. My father who has Covid, was taken by ambulance to ER. No x-rays, labs, or other testing done. Was given a script of motrin and sent home 30 minutes later. Fast forward 3 days, he is transfered back to ER via ambulance and diagnosed with bilateral pnuemonia and renal failure. As my father was in the ER, I spoke with 2 different nurses on his condition. In my entire career I can say I have NEVER experienced or witnessed such unprofessional attitudes and lack of compassion coming from someone who is suppose to not only be a nurse but also a "charge nurse". We requested that my father be transfered to another facility and it was then, the rudness and absolute uncalled for attitudes started. I was shocked by what was being said and that a facility would allow a staff member to act in such a manner. Not only that but the charge nurse was right there supporting it. It was my father's wishes as well as family to be sent to another facility. After being told there was no beds in MO avaliable, that they would have to look at other states, I offered to help. I found my dad a room at a level 1 hospital and was given a number by that house supervisor to have the ER call to request a bed. I called back to let them know what I found and I was hung up on twice and told that I was wasting their time. This was after was told if I could find a place let them now. Now, I don't know when helping take the work load off a nurse is wasting their time but it didn't stop there. The charge nurse Gayle was probaly the most unprofessional and rudest charge nurse I've delt with. The lies that were told to not only our family but my dad proved that level of unprofessionalness we were dealing with. The rude responses and lack of compassion and being hung up on twice after saying "I'm hanging up on you now because I'm not going to listen to your request anymore" was mind blowing. What facility staffes this type of so called"professional" there was many more issues and violations she broke that will be delt with in the near future. I am saddened that their are people who are allowed to act like this. Especially ones who are suppose to be there to help others and have compassion. There is not one thing I can say good about this facility and honestly I am glad that I have never had to work around this type of enviroment or individuals. Very sad and I hope no other family goes through this. Gayle , and the male nurse that night made our experience the worst it could have been. Never will a family member end up at this place again. Do yourself and your family a favor. Go to another facility where health care is truly provided and compassion exist. You will get nothing more than foul mouthed unprofessionals here. I wish the stars had negatives in front of them.

My Wife was checking in for her mental illness. bipolar 1, PTSD, Major Anxiety.. needed to be checked in for stay to get meds stabilized. Said she had suicidal thought. Was scratching her arms to death.. and these people pushed her out because the Er is full of COVID patients. Are you serious. The most ridiculous.. most ineffective hospital in the Untied States. Never.. never take anyone there. Their nursing staff is absolutely the worst. No bed side manor.. no thought for anyone at all. Doctors are ineffective and should be sued for negligence every chance you get. You would for sure win a huge case against them. If I could put no stars I would. Not the.only time they have shown negligence here. Bad bad practices and bad place period. Thier own Psychologist said to put my wife inside for treatment. Yet the Dr. Re-evaluated her because they ran out of beds.. not the Psychologist.. and said oh your fine we need your bed and let her go. Are ya f&$+ing kidding me. Place is a joke and administration should be ALL be let go for failure to take care of residents of our City

Do not work here. I was hired to work as a clerk in the store room. I was just getting good at my job, and they fired me with no written warnings. I was working as hard as I could, and they dropped me with no warning. Poor communication. If I made mistakes they would complain behind my back and I felt like there was no way to please them. Some of my coworkers were nice though.
This is not a review of the care here, as I have not been a patient here except for my pre-employment screening lower back x-rays and drug test.
