The Stone Church Community of Christ

We did a service for the homeless. Every Wednesday there is dinner served here for the community. It was a great way to light the world. No money needed just a little compassion and time. I'm grateful for a great friend @LupeMoe for inviting me and my family. We joined forces with her family to serve the community. 💚💚

What a beautiful, location. The stained glass is incredible.

Say what you want about the religion (NOT the Mormons) but they sure do know how to take care of historic landmarks.

This historic church is a nice landmark and a functioning church. The architecture was aggressive and grand for it's day. The pipe organ is surprisingly massive and beautiful. The stained glass windows are first rate. There is a balcony all around, integrated with the main floor. There are many avenues for foot traffic.

Showing the age of it's design, the flooring is uneven in areas and some overheads under the balcony are tight. But this is just architecture.

What makes Stone Church special is the people in it, and the people who have gone before. They are very friendly and social. They are kind and giving. They are Christians with a commitment to God, their families, their friends, and their neighbors.

My parents were married here in '52. As a boy, we periodically went to services at Stone Church, especially around conference. Even though it never was my home congregation, going to worship here always has a feeling of homecoming. I don't get to Stone Church often, but it is always special when I do.

I lived two houses down from the Stone Church as a child. They owned the building (a 2 story house converted into two apartments) and our rent stayed the same for the entire time we lived there. We attended services every Sunday, and it seemed like a treat every week. It is such a beautiful building inside and out, and the organ music and choir would just carry me away.

My mother and her mother were members of Stone Church. As were others in the family. Most of all whom have passed away and are good memories now. I went to Stone Church when I was a child. At the time I didn't know how historical the Church was until I was an adult. I have been to many church's around the country to call my church. Nothing to date has measured up to Stone Church! I want to be Baptist and a Catholic and among other's. Then I think of my grandmother and mother and see how kind and happy that they were and so giving and loving they both were! I think I have found my Church! God Bless all!

Went to the annual basement sale. The members that worked it were super nice.

Stone Church Preschool is amazing! Great teachers. Wonderful loving, caring, educational environment for kids to learn.

Home cooked meals during church conference week were awesome. Taco salad bowl was a favorite.

I've been going to this place for 10 years and I enjoyed their dinner at 6:30 on Wednesdays my name is taffy lady

Many community programs and provides a very nice space for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts pack 223.

Very nice people that serve a free meal to the homeless every Wednesday evening!

Love Stone Church. So many memories there

One of the coolest buildings in independence. Definitely worth stopping by and asking for a tour.

Was there for a funeral & found church staff friendly & gracious

Had my sister service there was plenty of space and very clean thank you
