I love the authentic food and how grateful the staff is to have you visit. They are so welcoming and warm. The free salsa is a touch warm too, which I like !

Tripe tacos were on point! I don't think I'd order the chicken tortilla soup again. Friendly service and solid prices as well.

I had the lunch Chimi, very small, but tasted great. Had to ask for drink refills a couple of times, water and Ice Tea.

This is a great little restaurant in a unique setting. It's in an old gas station that has been made into a nice little Mexican restaurant. The food is tasty, and the people are friendly and provide great service. We enjoyed our first time here and will definitely be back. The chicken quesadilla with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream, and rice and beans on the side was especially good.

Some of the most authentic Mexican food in the STL area ... this coming from someone that has been outside of STL and knows what real mexican food is...and if you think El Maguey is mexican food you're strongly mistaken. It's such a charming homey place. They have a bar, plenty of seating, a little grochery, outdoor seating, fresh panquesita, aqua frescas and real heavy icy cold chalices...not mugs...solid frosty chalice. Oh also Coronaritas with fullsize Coronas instead of the baby one they serve at other places...cough cough El Maguey. This place used to be a gas station and behind the bar they still have the original coolers where you can even take some drinks to go. They treat me and my girlfriend like one of their own. I couldn't rate this place any higher. LPs is the place to be.

Best Mexican around! Wish they had more seating.

This place is in an old convenience store remodeled. I had veggie fajitas, no dairy. Great! Hubby had burrito with beef and shrimp. Great! Price reasonable. Good to go here! Clean bathroom.

I've been to Mexico four times previously, this the best Mexican food I've had,cheaper and bettthan fast food, and less expensive.

I love this humble little authentic Hispanic restaurant/family. The food is always right, which means awesome, but I keep coming back because it feels like they are inviting me to eat in their home. They don't try too hard like a car salesman, they just always invite you to enjoy yourself. 👍 ❤

Have lived in Wentzville for 6 years and had never been to Los Portales until we went out with a friend about a month ago...her idea to meet there. We really enjoyed it! Staff was friendly, food was GREAT at a decent price. We went back again this weekend to try other items from their vast menu. Very satisfied again. Only problem I can point out is the parking lot on the southeast corner made me a little nervous maneuvering.

California native here, and if you're looking for something a bit more west coast flavor, this place is as close as it gets in this neck of the woods. I've only had their street tacos, rice, and beans, but it helped my cravings. They also have 32oz beers for 6.50.

this place has some flavorful food! everything is incredible. i ordered the chicken chimichanga and the chicken was juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! the workers are unbelievably nice and on top of their game. i will be back here often!

Do you like warm chips? This place has them! They give ya a big ol basket of warm chips… it’s like the chips are giving you a French kiss… and it is good!

How’s the service you might ask? Our waiter was witty and willing to help us with all our orders!

Then the food arrived. The main course…. We had burritos and margaritas and it was a real party… both in our stomachs and in this amazing restaurant!

We went to the restaurant for the first time with our friends. The chips and salsa were very good. We all had combination plates, and they were delicious. The portions were generous; we left there full. Our server, Jose, was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back there again.
