Sherwood Forest Preschool

Sherwood Forest Preschool is a great school for young minds to learn, grow, and experience new things in such fun unique ways. The Owner, Michelle, truly puts her heart and sole into her program and has a true passion for children. We have had a blast attending some of the community events she has put on and my niece had a wonderful preschool experience here. Another thing I love is how Michelle takes her education and training seriously and attends lots of trainings and is always open to learning as much as she can.

When I began looking for a preschool for my son, I was hoping to find a nurturing environment along with a play based program and I hit the jackpot with Sherwood Forest and the fabulous Miss Shell! Michelle Jensen is truly amazing with preschooler,s knowing exactly how to help them through all their emotions with just the right words and caring approach. Each day is full of wonderful adventures, outdoor exploration, science projects, gardening, art, working with clay, visits from the High School Robotics club and too many more to name. Everything about this place is fun, both inside and out. My son has thrived under Miss Shell's care and LOVES going to school! Each weekend day he asks, "Do I have preschool today?" and is always disappointed on his "no school days. I am so thankful that our family found this gem of a preschool!

I am very proud of My sister who is the owner and operator of Sherwood Forest Preschool. I have been a director of a large and in demand preschool in PA. I stayed with my sister for a couple of months and helped with her Preschool program. I was most impressed with the preschool indoor and outdoor environment. Michelle always uses kind words and always on the preschoolers level. I love that the preschoolers play outside rain or shine- they all have appropriate outdoor gear- rain boots and rain jacket. When outside- there was a lot of mud pies made, games, ball throw and catch, bike riding, swinging, fort making, gardening- nature observing - list is endless- indoor play was all about imagination, exploring, crafts, music and dance. I posted a photo of myself and her preschoolers - reading a story to them❤

My family had the extreme pleasure of being a part of the Sherwood Forest community as my son attended pre-school there for three years. This program was instrumental as he navigated his way through peer socialization, relationships and conflict resolution. The play based program inspires creativity and ignites curiosity. Ms. Shell is an amazing mentor to the children and they truly prosper with her guidance.

I feel so fortunate to have found this wonderful place when my son was preschool age. His days were full of exploration, fun, friends, and so much loving care. The environment is very thoughtfully set up to encourage learning through exploration of natural materials and Ms. Shell welcomes all her little adventurers with a huge smile and kind words each day. So much time spent outside was also a big plus for our active child. I always felt at ease leaving my son there (and often wished I could stay and play too!). What a great place and amazing community!

We moved to the neighborhood and afterwards found out that we are nearby Sherwood Forest Preschool; this didn't make our choice "automatic" to send our preschooler there. However after touring and asking our "100 questions" we were incredibly blown away by the level of thought put into every activity, which promotes creativity more than the average preschool. This isn't just a "recite your ABCs and learn your colors" basic education - this is an incredible introduction to all things nature-based and art/story/music-focused....while discreetly working to develop little ones' character and social awareness. They get some NEAT sensory and art experiences that make my older son jealous: clay dishware, fused glass, jewelry, twig spiderwebs, watercolor, etc. Simply put, we discovered that this truly WAS the best option for our daughter. We know the time will come for her to leave for kindergarten in the fall, but what a foundation(!) she got this year. Once people get wind of this gem of a school, Sherwood Forest Preschool will undoubtedly have a wait list!

Both of our little ones attended and graduated from Sherwood Forest Preschool and we are so grateful for the love and care of Ms. Shell and the wonderful learning environment she creates. She inspires discovery, builds kind-hearted socialization, and supports the unique gifts of each child.
