Golden Empress Garden

Just moved back to Philly from DC and was craving some Chinese. Wanted something semi-close as was being delivered so chose Golden Empress Garden. Was impressed by quite a few things:

(1) offered combos outside of just lunch hours. The combos let you choose either spring or egg roll (spring roll was very good) AND BROWN RICE DIDN'T COST EXTRA! I got the chicken w/garlic sauce with large chicken pieces & not a lot of "filler" vegetables (just broccoli, which was fresh).

Also got the Happy Family which was very good and a generous portion.

(2) choice of free items if you spend over $10 (! - refreshing)

(3) they use Beyond for delivery ($3), meaning the restaurant's own drivers vs. who knows w/other services with multiple orders

Me and my girlfriend had the best time eating here today. The General Ts'o chicken platter, and the won ton soup was the best I've eaten anywhere. Very beautiful staff and owners, humble. If you get to eat here, check out the art work up on the walls, all done by the owner. Thank you for the amazing food.

Great deal and big portions for lunch special. So far very consistent and reliable.

Called for delivery..placed my order .the girl told me it would be 45mins..called back cause I wanted to get a menu..I was ordering from the menu online..so I called back and as soon as i hung up..there was a knock on the door..it was them..that's right 5 mins..from the time i called .my food was delivered..don't ask me how,,cause i dont know..the food was great and the price was resonable ..this is the place to order from...💯

This place makes some great food! A hidden gem on South St. They have many options for vegetarians and have low salt or low fat options as well. The food tasted Amazing I ordered the chicken and broccoli with brown Rice and it was superb loaded protein and flavor!

3/24/22 still ordering from this place weekly, they are amazing and always execute the order with quality and quantity!

This is one of the few take out places in the area that has gotten BETTER post COVID... We've ordered tons of times over the past 6 months and each time it has been amazing. LOVE the vegetarian/vegan menu. It's so hard to find places that omit the egg.They have alternatives for nearly everything and they taste amazing. Our favorites are the veggie "chicken" Gen Tso and Chef Special BBQ. Delivery is always fast, but not just rushed and thrown together like most. It's quality.

My kids and I order from Golden Empress Garden at least once a week. The food is always fresh and well-prepared, and their delivery times are really quick. They have a terrific array of dishes, including lots of vegetarian options. Some of my kids live in other cities and they ask for food from Golden Empress as the first thing they want when they return to Philly.

Best Chinese in the neighborhood for sure. Customer service makes you wanna call again just to talk. Atmosphere is a takeout Chinese place so it delivers in that aspect

The lady who took my food order was so nice and polite. Three items ordered for take our. My order was nicely packaged. Food was delicious, I will go back.

Great Vegetarian options!

I simply love, love, love the Chinese food from this restaurant. I think Golden Empress Garden makes the best pork fried rice I've had, and the only pork fried rice that I can order in Philadelphia that Reaches the ideal I strive for in that dish.

When I order from other Chinese delivery restaurants, the egg rolls taste like they were frozen, a golden empress they taste nice and fresh.

The meat, whether it's duck or chicken or pork or beef, is always high quality. And delivery is fast. I really could not ask for more from a Chinese restaurant, it's my favorite.

By far one of the best non-fancy Chinese spots in the city. We have been ordering from here for years. Fresh food and fresh vegetables. The place is clean and they have a huge variety of dishes and appetizers. An insider secret...get the House Special Wonton Soup...it is not you run-of-the-mill wonton soup, it’s packed with fresh veggies and meats! Great place and kind employees!

Great place for vegetarians. Good serving sizes for the price (and I spend less on a meal there than I would most places). Use the app, you can get a little freebie. Even with all the options available I get General Tso bean curd with added spicy, it's perfect. And so cool to have vegetarian wonton soup!

I have eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants and I have now found my absolute favorite! The food here is excellent! It is too bad I'm from Boise because it is a long ways to come for great Chinese! The amount of food was great and the prices were very reasonable. And hot and spicy was just that...hot and spicy!

Five years ago I gave a one star review . Tonight we ordered delivery, it came within 15 minutes, food was hot, fresh, delicious. The family owned and run restaurant is spot on. Good American Chinese food.

The food at Golden Empress is exceptional and always served fresh. The staff is always helpful and friendly. My wife and I have been coming here for nearly a decade now and it's one of our favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. Probably our #1 place. Love the new location too.
